Synopsis:

A fun, romantic read, perfect for fans of Sarah Dessen and Susane Colasanti!

Before Matt, Ella had a plan. Get over a no-good ex-boyfriend. Graduate from high school without any more distractions. Move away from Orlando, Florida, where she’s lived her entire life.

But Matt—the cute, shy, bespectacled bass player who just moved to town—was never part of that plan.

And neither was attending a party that was crashed by the cops just minutes after they arrived. Or spending an entire night saying “yes” to every crazy, fun thing they could think of.

Then Matt abruptly left town, and he broke not only Ella’s heart but those of their best friends, too. So when he shows up a year later with a plan of his own—to relive the night that brought them together—Ella isn’t sure whether Matt’s worth a second chance. Or if re-creating the past can help them create a different future.

In alternating then and now chapters, debut author Lauren Gibaldi crafts a charming, romantic story of first loves, lifelong friendships, uncovered secrets, and, ultimately, finding out how to be brave.

My Review:

First off I would like to thank Lauren for allowing us to host her in the FFBC. I had been excited for this book since the first time I read it's synopsis and when Lauren agreed to allow us to host her I was thrilled.

'The Night We Said Yes' is one of those books that grabs your attention from the start and keeps it to the very end.  We start off in the present day summer with Ella a recent high school graduate who is getting ready to move out of town for summer. Ella is quiet, unhappy and almost socially awkward. The story begins when she runs into Matt, her ex boyfriend from the summer before and we thrown back in time and watch as their story plays out.

The infamous night where Matt and Ella met was super fun to read about. There is just something about letting go of inhibitions and just saying "yes" to everything that sounds so thrilling. I also really enjoyed reading about the friendship between Ella and Meg. I am always a big fan of reading about friendships. Girl-Girl, Boy -Boy, Girl-Boy, this story had it all.

My only real complaint of this book, was I wanted more. More development, more story arc etc. I feel like once we learned the truth it was kind of anticlimactic and the ending left me wanting more. However that being said,  I still enjoyed reading it and would recommend it for anyone looking for a book that can be devoured in one sitting.

Review: Beast by Tiffini Hunt

Synopsis:

A little boy who lives in a castle spends his days reading, riding horses, and wandering around his family's estate. On his fifth birthday, the boy bids his parents good-bye as they head for a party; he has no idea that he will never see them again. With his parents deceased in a strange accident, the boy attempts to carry on with the help of his servants. But on the one-year anniversary of his parents' deaths, the little boy suddenly transforms into a beast, changing the course of the future forever.

Two hundred years later, the Beast is still not used to his new existence; what's more, he is haunted by bizarre dreams of a beautiful lady. As the Beast attempts to determine whether the woman is real, an elderly man stumbles upon the castle during a storm. When he innocently takes a rose from a vase to give to his daughter, the Beast becomes enraged and shows himself, setting off a chain of events that puts the man amid the Beast's desperate quest for happiness.

"Beast" presents a timeless fairy tale from a new perspective, telling of the beast's relentless search for the enchanting woman he dreams of as he begins to suffer the consequences of uncovering a deadly curse.

My Review:

Thank you Tiffini Hunt for sending me an autographed copy of her book for review!

The last couple of years there has been an awakening with fairy-tale re-tellings. I have read a few of them and really enjoyed them and when Tiffini contacting me asking if I wanted to read and review her new book Beast, a Beauty and the Beast re-telling I was sold. I have never read the original story and my only exposure to Beauty and The Beast is the Disney cartoon. So I was eager to read this story told from the Beast's perspective.

First off let me start by saying that even though this book is classified as Young Adult, to me it read more like a middle grade. Reading this book made me replay the cartoon in my head and I had a fun time reminiscing about my child hood and watching my favorite Disney movies. However as a book the first 130ish pages were a little too slow paced without much occurring except for repetition of daily activities.  The second half of the book improved once Maribelle was introduced to the story line. Not only did the plot pick up and become enjoyable, to be honest I also saw improvement in the overall writing as well . I ended up finishing this book in one sitting and even though I can't say that it was an action packed book with an original plot, I can say that I did end the book with a smile on my face and that is enough for me to give it a 3 star rating!

My Review:

This story starts off with a heart wrenching first few chapters. Emma has moved from Cornwall to London to start a job at an advertising agency. When she started her job she didn't realize her job roles were going to consist of doing university work for the owner's daughter and wearing risque clothing to try to win over  perspective clients.

But things start picking up for her her when she starts a fling this one of those said clients. He is sexy and controlling and does a great job an wining and dining her. But at the same time he is elusive and secretive and he always slams on the breaks when things start to get hot and heavy. Emma is sure he is just not into her, but one day wakes up to find that he has stolen her access pass to her agency and all of her money. But he left her with a promise. A promise that he would be back for her.

Emma does the only thing that a girl can do and picks up the pieces of her life and moves to start over. She gets a job as a bartender at a poplar club Topaz, and starts falling for the Jeremy White, the bar owners son. But she has a foreboding feeling that someone is watching her and following her. As she tries to move on from her past, it seems like the past as followed her.

I have to admit that I was completely drawn in to the beginning of the story. At first when you meet Nic Fellows the hot sexy business consultant, I was ready to be disappointed. My first instinct was, oh no here is another story about a a naive innocent young woman being seduced by a domineering rich man. But then I was pleasantly surprised  with they mystery of it all and it kept me intrigued to find out what was going to happen next.

To me this story had two main plots - The mystery behind Nic Fellows and Emma's budding relationship with Jeremy. Both of the plots were interesting and keeps the reader invested to find out whats happening next. It was a definite fun read with a great ensemble cast of character. I like how the book is told in two POVs and actually would like to have read more told in Jeremy's perspective.

This story was the perfect amount of love story and intrigue to make it a fun quick read! The story does continue and I will be anxious to find out how it concludes.
