I'm very disappointed in you, Vera Chokalingam.

Monday, April 14, 2008

I thought about writing all this as I lay awake last night.
Midnight + Fever = Random Thoughts.

So anyway, the last couple of days have been not-so-great.
Sat: 39.5, 39.7, 40.1, 40.2, 40.4
Sun: 38.5, 39.1, 39.3, 39.6, 39.7

I haven't checked today's yet. But it BETTER have improved. It's so irritating being sick. Especially when there's a huge presentation coming up in just TWO DAYS.

And it doesn't help that:

1. My very neighbourly neighbour is still intent on killing all of us by puffing away every 2 minutes.

2. There has been an increase in the number of moths attacking us. I had to watch the whole Shankar/Hariharan concert fully covered, except my eyes, coz there were about 5 moths in the house, hiding, waiting to attack when my defences were down.

3. Teenu's being mean to me by rubbing in the fact that I look gross and how I can't taste any food and how he's so strong and immune and in the pink of health etc etc.

i) I, however, retaliate by threatening to spread my fever to him (which is not good coz he's got some big match today) thereby making him flee out of my room and be mean to me from the hall/his room instead.

ii) We are So mature.

4. I slept so much on Saturday that my sleep quotas for sunday and today have also been taken care of. But my eyes are super tired so I can't even sit and work on the comp. So all I can do is lie down on my bed and think of lame things to write on my blog.

5. Appa's leaving for Australia tonight, for 2 whole weeks :( :( And I think Amma's taken care of me so much over the last few days that she's got a bit of the virus/whatever but she's still insisting on me not helping her out. And teenu's contribution in the house is non-existent. Which means she has to do EVERYTHING on her own :( Oh mannnn.

6. I sometimes sound like a tween-to-teen guy (like my voice is cracking).

Ok but I am going to be positive and remember that my presentations end on friday! And my immune system would've improved after I get better! (right? My medical knowledge is sadly pathetic). Andd I'm sure I've lost a liiiittle bit of weight :D

P. S. Happy birthday Ruchi! And Happy Birthday ராமர் (Lord Rama)! :D

Happy New Year!

Happy வருஷ பிறப்பு!

இனிய புத்தாண்டு வாழ்த்துக்கள்!

नया साल मुबारक! (if saal is male.)

Yes, they all mean the same thing but I feel like being redundant and show off-y :D

Asterix comics are such awesome therapy.

edited to add: I'm in love with Asterix. He's fearless and confident and brave, even if he's short and has a big nose. sooo cuuuuuuteeee! I think I love too many people. ARR too. Saw his interview this morning on Koffee with Anu and he's AMAZING. Next I'm watching Shankar M and Hariharan in concert. They rock too. Yup. Too many people!

hiii. Thesis submission was alright. It's not even complete, but this is just the first draft so I'm banking on my examiner and supervisor remembering that, and giving me time till week 13 to submit a better one. Till then, it's major crunch time! It's just about 10 more days I guess. Can be done without stressing out and snapping at everyone. (But in case I do, I'm sorry!) There's another non-FYP project due on 18th so there's that too. And 18th marks my last day of undergrad school! Just cannot imagine. No more lessons after that. Reading week and then two exams on 26th April and 2nd May.

Gosh. It's hitting me quite hard. Especially after going to SMU's last day (they had a concert and all that - very cool) and krups was taking photos with EVERYONE she met coz she knew them all! It's not like I'm gonna join the working world now, it's still studies, but y'know.. it'll be different. Even though NUS doesn't have such great memories like VJ and Cedar did, I guess there's a small bit that I'll miss. The forum, bazaars, randomly bumping into people, USP classes, projects and the chatterbox, going to biz/sci canteen and meeting half the indians in NUS there, same with engin canteen, going over to med fac to bug everyone there (and hoping to meet certain people :P hehe), omg milo truck!!, french classes which ended at 8pm, mugging in Central Lib, FYP-ing in lab, IIE Violin classes, the comp. centre, the comp. centre bus stop.. Ok ya, there are memories. So other than the kind of education system they have here with the bell curve rot, I guess NUS isn't that bad.. Definitely made some good friends here, learnt lots of important things about myself, and life.. And the whole Canadian experience was possible due to SEP so I'm thankful for that too! I've got tonnes to write, now that I think about it.. So sometime when I'm free, a nice looong post complete with nostalgia and reminiscence will be coming up..

Just remembered my USA trip last year. I'd started a
travel-blog which never properly materialized since each entry took about an hour to write, and looking thru photos made me nostalgic and I wasted an extra hour on them. I think I've forgotten lots of little details which I should've definitely written down. I've got to properly make one for the Europe trip. I've got the whole of July for that! Really looking forward to travelling with neels n krups! In fact I don't think I've even mentioned it here. We're going to Austria and Switzerland in June for about 3 weeks. And will spend our last day in Munich. Oh and also Prague in Czech Republic and Budapest, Hungary. Really really excited. And lots of things have been finalized! There's still the visa rubbish to take care of and sometimes I really wonder why I didn't apply for citizenship earlier. Oh well. (I still dunno what I feel about giving up my Indian passport but there's time yet). So anyway, leaving on June 1st and returning on 21st. It's gonna be just great. I've already half fallen in love with Europe just by looking at the travel guides so I can forsee a great deal of highness over those 3 weeks (beware, you guys :P)

Life's good, in general. Oh - I'm gonna be vain, sorry - was told that my face is more radiant and is clearing up and all. Thanks to personresponsible for making me put in more effort in taking care of my skin :P and to same person and other palz for bringing out the good emotions all day, every day! ok I sound like I'm on ecstacy or something. But I'm not, really. Love you all! Also, I've just discovered, steaming helps clear up pores :D Things are good at home too.. Ok, teenu's being weird and silent, but otherwise, at least no fights and all. Appa's leaving for Japan tonight though, so I dunno if the situation will remain like this, but I really hope so. It's so much better when the mood's light everywhere, especially at a mug-mode time like this! Rambled enough. I'd better get back to work now! And again, if I get overly stressed and lash out at anyone, I'm really really sorry!

To all other FYP-ers, ALL THE BEST!!

Happy April Fool's Day to everyone!

To those I was successful with, I'm sorry about that momentary happiness or shock or "why-is-archana-suddenly-telling-me-weird-things"-ness. My brains have been clogged up by FYP mainly so thought process is kinda dead. And my guilty conscience is over-sensitive. Thesis report and technical paper due friday! AAAH!

Bye.

After all that paethal/rubbish-y posts I made earlier, I should just summarize and say that I am a very happy person :) In all aspects but my studies life, which I'm still working on. So minus studies, I'm a very very very very very happy person.

Talk of the town (South India and parts of Singapore):

There's this video which people have been raving about, at least in India. And amma came home after paatu class and told me that our teacher had also seen it and was totally believing in it. Ok basically it's about a miracle which is said to have occurred about a week back.

There's a place called Thiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu. Holy place and all that. So there was some electrician from TNEB (Tamil Nadu Electrical Board) working there and the suddenly saw a Siddhar (Saint) hovering near him. He was basically walking but his feet weren't touching the ground. So this electrician whipped out his mobilephone and took a video of this "amazing sight". On seeing this, the fact that he was being recorded, the Siddhar shot into the air in "rocket speed" (quoting from the footage).

The video is here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qOivuASaD4

Whole thing's in tamil, from Jaya TV. But if you look close, you can see the signs of the Siddhar - excessive hair (like seriously a LOT) and all that.

So the reason I'm writing all this is not because I believe in its integrity. On the contrary, I think it's total crap. I don't think I'll believe in all this unless I actually see it happen. Not that I don't believe in miracles and God's doing and all, coz I do, definitely. I just will not look at some extremely bad-quality video and drop everything and run to Thiruvannamalai to see the holy place where OMG-such-an-awesome-miracle happened. Apparently that's what's happening in TN. In fact amma was saying (only half-jokingly!) that people are probably worshipping that electrician from TNEB now as well heheheh. Unfortunately appa's all into these kinda Yogic occurrances so is a little annoyed that mum and I don't believe it. With technology, all this can be faked so easily! Sigh wish he'd understand that. Anyway, you guys see it and tell me what you think! I honestly think the Siddhar looks little freaky. Ghostly :P

Edited to Add:

Today's February 29th! I told amma I'm gonna take as many photos as possible today, starting with the calendar. The next Feb 29th could be a very very different one! I've never really thought about it much till now. Saw the trailer for that movie with Li Lin - The Leap Years. And she said she was 6years old (instead of 24), so thought that was quite interesting. I wonder if it's one of those inauspicious dates. I should do something interesting today and celebrate it every Feb 29th hmm. Right now my imagination's dead.

March's Vishnu Sahasranamam session's at our place tomorrow. So we're making the house slightly more decent-looking. My table's SUCH A MESS. Papers all over the place. aargh and it's already FRIDAYYYYYY!!! Mid-sem break's over!! WOMG. Really gotta start planning my life. There's a career fair going on at Suntec now. Hopefully that'll help me decide what I wanna do with my future.

Btw, tomorrow's the Kadri Gopalnath kutcheri at Sivan kovil! CAN'T WAIT. This is the first event I marked out. I LOOOVE the saxophone! And amma says Kanyakumari's on the violin. Seriously can't wait. Tomorrow's gonna be a nice day :)
