More Inspiration from Ebony

Hi again everyone!
I have another bright layout this time to share!
This time it's a photo I took at one of my son's soccer tournaments of all the different coloured boots of his team mates!!!

The colours in this kit worked perfectly!!

The Basic Grey Sticker sheet was the main feature of this layout , as most of this page is made up of elements on it including the frame, labels and triangles which were also meant to be photo corners.

I have added some masking with some modeling paste and some mists to add more colour to the layout before adding the kit contents.
I have also used from the kit some of the papers which I have cut into circles, the alphas , the washi tape and the sequins. The other items you see are from my own stash!

Happy creating, Eb xx

Designer Inspiration - Lisa Pate. Girly Grunge

Hello Everyone!!!

I'm back to share another project I put together with the August Main Kit.   The kit was full of super pretty colours and embellishments... BUT my 14 year old has morphed from the girliest little girl ... into a music loving, black wearing, combat boot lover kind of teen.  Which I LOVE.

But the colours in the kit needed a little grunging up to suit her.

So I set to work.

Here is a few ideas on how to turn pretty papers into grungy goodness.

  • Gesso.  I slathered it on my base cardstock as well as liberally brushed it over my papers after attaching them to my papers.  It's patchy, and lumpy and bumpy.  Perfect.
  • Staples.  They are awesome to attach anything quickly, but they add a little more metal to a pretty page.
  • Crumple, fold, tear.  Crumpling, folding, and tearing all add more texture.
  • Splatter and spray.  You all have sprays or water colours to splash and spray around,  I used them both on my base cardstock and over the whole layout.
  • Scribble it. Grab a pen or pencil and scribble.  A border, a design element (circles were used on my layout) or your journalling.
  • Scratch it up.  Those gold alphas were just a little too shiny.  So I took my scissors to them and gave them a scratching up.
Here is my layout, and lots of other images to show you how it came together.

Thanks for stopping by everyone.  I hope it inspires to you take papers and kits and make them suit your theme or personality.

Designer Inspiration - Lisa Pate. Pretties

My kit is SOOOO full of pretty little bits.  I'm onto my third project using the August Kit and they are still covering my desk.

I started just looking at each individual embellishment and laying them on my cardstock, and I just loved the simplicity.  I quickly grabbed a photobooth picture I have had displayed on my bedside table for a year and added it into the layout.

So much fun trying on styles that I wouldn't usually do.

oh and I STILL have a huge pile of product to play with.  It's the kit that just keeps on and on.

Designer Inspiration - Lisa Pate. A Card for Dad.

Nothing like the last minute rush right??  I have such a bad habit of making a card as I am ready to leave the house to celebrate a birthday or in this case Fathers Day.

Sunday morning was no different.  I really should learn.

Thankfully I had my beautiful August Kit all spread over my desk.  With a coffee in hand I gathered lots of elements togther to create a quick card.

As you can see, when time is of the essence I staple EVERYTHING down!

Are you a last minute kinda girl like me???

Designer Inspiration - Lisa Pate. August Kit is here!

And it's so delicious.  Not that I eat paper or anything.

I cracked open my August Kit today, and sprinkled all the lovely inclusions all over my desk. SO much to work with, so many cute little "bits"

I really love the trend of layering up one edge of the page and creating a layout in this space. Time to give it a go.  It was so easy just to stick random bits along the edge then stitch and staple it all down.  No double sided tape needed.

Have you opened your kit yet????

Designer Ins[piration - Lisa Pate

Happy Monday !!

I'm finally started to feel settled in my new home and have almost a totally functioning and pretty creative space.  Shame the internet is STILL not working!

It's lovely to have lots of creative work to keep me busy (and I am probably keeping up better without the distraction of internet surfing!)

If you read my previous post you would know I had a rather large disaster with all of my old scrapbooks.  Rather than be sad and upset, I am pulling the photo's off and creating new layouts with older photo's.  Totally LOVING scrapping my babies again.

Using the gorgeous June Kit, I created a messy, fun layout of my youngest babe when she was oh so very little.

I will admit I have a *thing* for cutting up and pulling apart just about everything in the kit(as you can see by the quote sticker) .  I loved using some inks over the top of the stencil to give a background that wasn't perfect.

Hope you all have a wonderful, creative week.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Designer Inspiration - Lisa Pate

Hello Everyone !!

Can I just say how glad I am to be back in this space?? anyone who has ever had to move house will understand how time consuming and tiring it is.  And lets not forget the nightmare of trying to make sure you have a working internet connection.  We are still working on that!!

So I have had the lovely June Kit for a few weeks now, I had created some backgrounds and was waiting for some time and the right photo's.... fast forward to this weekend while we were re-stacking boxes in the new garage only to discover that three boxes which had housed my oldest scrapbooks for 6 months were WET ... and MOLDY and not at all salvageable.  It was a pretty sad moment I tell you.

I pulled all those pages out, and popped them into a crate and one by one I am cutting the photo's that can be saved off the wet and ruined layout and starting again.  Yes it's a huge job, but it's kind of fun making new layouts from old ones.

So onto the layout!!! I've done my usual messy collage style, but for the background used the gorgeous Lindy's Stamp Gang Spray that was provided in the kit (plus another I already had in my stash).  These sprays are all kind of lovely to work with ... and the are PERMANENT !!  yep, that's right they do not run together and turn brown.  Plus they layer so well over dark coloured cardstock.

 So much fun.

I hope you never ever have to find your scrapbooks ruined like I did.  So please if you do have your scrapbooks stored out of sight, check them :)

Another to share..

Hi everyone,
I have another layout to share with you today using the latest CUPCAKE KIT.

This one is another bright one using lots of scraps of papers, the mask and stickers....

I have used some white cardstock and created a background with some watercolour paints and some machine stitching.
I then used strips of the various papers and a tag from the kit.To highlight the papers and give an arty feel I have gone over them with Faber castell gelatos.

A favourite in this kit were the stickers! I love using word stickers on my layouts just like here.

I have added interest with lots of stamping and some doodling with a mask.
You can also see above that I have used the Dina Wakely mask again with the Lindy's Stamp Gang mist.

Thanks for looking, happy creating , Eb x

She loves to read and tell a story too:)

Hi again everyone,
I am back to share another layout using the June Cupcake kit.

This layout is a photo of my daughter who LOVES
to read!! She is also a great, animated story teller and I really
wanted to document this aspect of her life.
Often when we go shopping and if she has some pocket money , more
often than not she goes straight for the book sections
in the stores.

I have like the last layout,
used a tag from the kit to highlight and frame my
Instagram photo.
I have used lots of different strips of the papers,
as well as the sticker sheet in the kit.
I have added some of my own washi tapes and a past kit flair.

I LOVE this mask so I used a yellow Faber Castell
gelato to add these words to my page.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you are enjoying your kit , Eb x

Designer Inspiration - Lisa Pate

Hello Everyone,

Hope Monday has been kind to you, with happy kids, great days at work and some sunshine.

Today I am sharing the final layout from my May Kit.

I tend to like creating something out of the mish mash of papers and embellishments that I have used on other projects. Parts of patterned papers that have already been cut into, picking pretty sequins up off my craft mat and scattering them about.  I just love using everything provided.

That's exactly how this layout came about.   Just layers of what was left.

It turned out to be a fun, not at all serious design and it matches the photo's perfectly.

So now that kit is all but done it's time to crack open the NEW JUNE kit.  Have you seen it???

Designer Inspiration - Lisa Pate - the little bits

Hello Everyone!!

Back again with another layout share using supplies from May's Full Kit.  Which was FULL to the brim with lots and lots of lovely little embellishments and details.

I have been lucky enough to be away all weekend at a creative retreat, and took my kit with me.  I started with a fun background that I sprayed with mist and then doodled shapes and lines over the spray.

Then I just couldn't find the perfect photo!!  Wanting to finish the layout anyway, I ended up creating the layout WITHOUT the photo.  I simply grouped lots of little embellishments to each side and left plenty of space to add the photo later.

Once home, I added both the wood veneer and my photo.

I love how it turned out.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Girly Fun....

Hi again everyone,
I have another layout to share using this month's cupcake kit.

This time I have used different sized strips of the various papers to create my background. I then used Faber Castell gelatos over them to highlight and give an arty feel.

I have also sewed over parts of my page and used a text stamp over the top of my papers.

I have used more of the papers as circles and other shapes. All the stickers are from the Echo Park sticker sheet including the title.

Thanks for popping by, Eb xx
