The Fireball of Milton Street
based on a watercolour painting
Detail from back
Machine pieced and hand quilted with Pearls 8 cotton. I've also made a pocket in the back to insert a pillow if desired. |
It has a hand dyed cotton background. Leaf printed tea bags are embellished with muslin, feathers, free motion stitched leaves on tulle, beads and 'inchies'. |
The flower centers and the side triangles are hand appliqued. It is machine quilted. I added a sleeve and label after the photos were taken. |
It's
based on a picture of salt terraces, each having a slightly different color
and edges of crystals. Its made of
layers of organza, embroidered with floss, each strip consisting of at least
three colors of French knots and tied with silk thread. |
It is made of a handdyed fabric on a commercial one (the blue one). It is patched and quilted by machine. When the quilt was already quilted, I added some stamping and some threads. |
First I created a quilt with a lot of texture from different fabrics and treatments of those fabrics. Then I painted over the whole surface. |
