Quilt no 17

The Fireball of Milton Street
based on a watercolour painting

Detail from back

Quilt no 16

Untitled
This is a paper pieced block using a Marcis Hohn pattern for birdhouses.  The openings are yoyos.  Each rooftop is quilted with "feathers" and the house portion have variouse quilt designs on them.  Stippling is the quilting style for the remainder.  The back has cats all over it and contains a label naming this swap, the year and my name.

Quilt no 15

Untitled
The background fabric is batik. It's covered with organza. Between the two layers are some pieces of fabric (vase and stems) and some artificial flowers (silk flowers). I've quilted around the flowers and around the heart prints on the batik. I've put buttons in the centre of the flowers. The batting is cotton and so is the back of the quilt.

Quilt no 14

Time to rest
I am on a rampage to utilize all the bits and pieces that I have not been able to throw away for the past (many) years. This is a silk painted face that didn't make it into the original project but I just couldn't throw away.  So here she is reinvented in a piece titled "Time to Rest"...

Quilt no 13

Garden Fern
Cotton patchwork  background, with fusible web appliqué batik leaves.  Free motion quilted  This 12 inch square quilt is a Miniature version of one block  of a garden quilt I have made.

Quilt no 12

Chocolate and Citrus Fruit
Machine pieced and hand quilted with Pearls 8 cotton. I've also made a pocket in the back to insert a pillow if desired.

Quilt no 11

Struck
Titled "Struck" because the design reminds me of lightening bolts coming from a gray sky.  It is 12" squares and done in aqua and orange on a gray background.  It is machine pieced and hand quilted. The back of the mini quilt has two pockets for hanging if someone desires to do so.

Quilt no 10

Cinnamon Star
I made a dresden plate from some christmas fabric, as this little quilt will probably go to its new home about Christmas time.  I machine appliqued it to a cinnamon coloured background (hence the name). Did some random straightline quilting, stitched cream stars on to the tone on tone holly fabric, and attached a red bead to each point. It has an envelope back to enable it to be displayed, and is embroidered with details of when and who made it.

Quilt no 5

Untitled
It's based on a picture of salt terraces, each having a slightly different color and edges of crystals.  Its made of layers of organza, embroidered with floss, each strip consisting of at least three colors of French knots and tied with silk thread.

Quilt no 4

Untitled
It is made of a handdyed fabric on a commercial one (the blue one). It is patched and quilted by machine. When the quilt was already quilted, I added some stamping and some threads.

Quilt no 3

Joyful Dancer
First I created a quilt with a lot of texture from different fabrics and treatments of those fabrics. Then I painted over the whole surface.

Quilt no 2

Funky Gingko Leaves
Background is an ice dyed parfait, the leaves are made from commercial batiks.

Quilt no 1

Untitled
This quilt is a hand appliqued traditional block with "meaning".  Bluebirds are for happiness; flower for beauty and trophy for good fortune.  So whoever receives this will receive a blessing for the year of happiness, beauty and good fortune.
