Bobby Jindal Goes Squishy, Tells GOP To Work With Obama on Health Care

“I think now is the perfect time to pivot and to say, not only here’s what we’re against, and not only here’s how we’re going to contrast ourselves, but here’s what we’re for,” Jindal said in an interview Tuesday with POLITICO.

Jindal acknowledged that the Republican Party for years had been too slow to stake out positions on the health care debate “to our peril and the nation’s peril.”

“I think that in some circles, it was viewed as a Democratic issue,” said Jindal, who served in top posts at the Department of Health and Human Services during the Bush administration and ran his state’s health department in the ’90s.

Jindal urged congressional Republicans to go to the White House and find common ground with Obama.

“Let’s start anew,” he said they should tell the president. “We’re willing to work with you in a bipartisan way.”

I don’t think Bobby Jindal has been paying attention. The GOP has offered several solutions including HR 3400. The Democrats have basically frozen them out of the process and rejected all their ideas. Obama has made a bogus token gesture to Republicans by looking into tort reform as a pilot program.

Whenever Republicans choose bipartisanship over principle, they lose because Democrats get to set the agenda. What we end up with is small-scale socialism rather than large scale, the effect is still the same, we drift leftwards.

I must admit, the more I see of Jindal, the less impress I become. I still cringe when I think about that Republican rebuttal he made. If Jindal has any presidential aspirations, he is going to have to do a whole lot better.

There is a remote, although gaining, possibility America’s military will intervene as a last resort to resolve the “Obama problem.” Don’t dismiss it as unrealistic.

America isn’t the Third World. If a military coup does occur here it will be civilized. That it has never happened doesn’t mean it wont. Describing what may be afoot is not to advocate it. So, view the following through military eyes:

· Officers swear to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” Unlike enlisted personnel, they do not swear to “obey the orders of the president of the United States.”

· Top military officers can see the Constitution they are sworn to defend being trampled as American institutions and enterprises are nationalized.

· They can see that Americans are increasingly alarmed that this nation, under President Barack Obama, may not even be recognizable as America by the 2012 election, in which he will surely seek continuation in office.

· They can see that the economy — ravaged by deficits, taxes, unemployment, and impending inflation — is financially reliant on foreign lender governments.

· They can see this president waging undeclared war on the intelligence community, without whose rigorous and independent functions the armed services are rendered blind in an ever-more hostile world overseas and at home.

· They can see the dismantling of defenses against missiles targeted at this nation by avowed enemies, even as America’s troop strength is allowed to sag.

· They can see the horror of major warfare erupting simultaneously in two, and possibly three, far-flung theaters before America can react in time.

· They can see the nation’s safety and their own military establishments and honor placed in jeopardy as never before.

So, if you are one of those observant military professionals, what do you do?

Wait until this president bungles into losing the war in Afghanistan, and Pakistan’s arsenal of nuclear bombs falls into the hands of militant Islam?

Wait until Israel is forced to launch air strikes on Iran’s nuclear-bomb plants, and the Middle East explodes, destabilizing or subjugating the Free World?

What happens if the generals Obama sent to win the Afghan war are told by this president (who now says, “I’m not interested in victory”) that they will be denied troops they must have to win? Do they follow orders they cannot carry out, consistent with their oath of duty? Do they resign en masse?

Or do they soldier on, hoping the 2010 congressional elections will reverse the situation? Do they dare gamble the national survival on such political whims?

Anyone who imagines that those thoughts are not weighing heavily on the intellect and conscience of America’s military leadership is lost in a fool’s fog.

Will the day come when patriotic general and flag officers sit down with the president, or with those who control him, and work out the national equivalent of a “family intervention,” with some form of limited, shared responsibility?

Imagine a bloodless coup to restore and defend the Constitution through an interim administration that would do the serious business of governing and defending the nation. Skilled, military-trained, nation-builders would replace accountability-challenged, radical-left commissars. Having bonded with his twin teleprompters, the president would be detailed for ceremonial speech-making.

Military intervention is what Obama’s exponentially accelerating agenda for “fundamental change” toward a Marxist state is inviting upon America. A coup is not an ideal option, but Obama’s radical ideal is not acceptable or reversible.

Unthinkable? Then think up an alternative, non-violent solution to the Obama problem. Just don’t shrug and say, “We can always worry about that later.”

In the 2008 election, that was the wistful, self-indulgent, indifferent reliance on abnegation of personal responsibility that has sunk the nation into this morass.

Caught you breath yet? Yes this is some pretty radical stuff; first, I think Mr. Perry has some major issues with Obama and is getting cart way out in front of the horse. While Obama’s policies are dreadfully socialist and Washington has grown rather deaf to the voice of the people, public pressure is still working.

Just look at yesterday how a Democratically controlled senate was unable to pass an amendment for the Public Option. Why do you think that is? Easy, public pressure still works. Those Democrats saw our anger at those Town Hall meetings. They know their jobs are on the line and they responded to our wishes. So, we are not at the end of the rope and We The People are not without power.

Now, on to this whole Military Coup business, first let’s take Obama’s name out of the equation so that it is less inflammatory and then lets look at this again.

Despite popular belief, America is not a democracy. America is a Constitutional Republic. As such, we are a nation of laws with the Constitution reigning supreme. This is also why our military swears allegiance to the Constitution and not to an elected official. Even the elected officials swear to uphold and defend the Constitution. So yes, the military can act against any president or congress that flat out thwarts the Constitution.

Read our founding documents and the words of our Founding Fathers and the message is clear, power does not rest with government but with the people. Our Founding Fathers gave us both tools and encouragement to over throw ANY government that grows tyrannical. This is why our words and our weapons take the number one and number two spots in the Amendments.

Now here is the shocking part, this kind of stuff has been true since the dawn of our government and so long as we keep our true rights and liberties, it will remain true until the end of time. So while talk of a military coup is shocking and scary, the military’s allegiance to the Constitution is just another check and balance in our form of government designed to keep a free people free.

Now lets get back to opposing those dreadful policies the way Americans normally do, protest, protest, protest!

John Fund offers a glimpse into Sarah Palin’s memoir

Yesterday we learned that Sarah Palin’s memoir is set for an early November 17^th release. Instantly people’s curiosity has peaked! In just a tad over 24 hours, Palin’s yet to be released book is as of this posting, #1 on Barns and Noble’s best seller list and #6 and climbing on Amazon. Everybody wants to know the inside scoop on Palin going Rogue.

Well John Fund gives us a little insight in yesterday’s Wall Street Journal by a short and revealing chat with Palin’s collaborator Lynn Vincent:

Ms. Vincent didn't reveal any details about the book, but did acknowledge it will describe Ms. Palin's frustration over her treatment by the staffers she inherited from the McCain campaign after her surprise pick as the GOP vice presidential nominee last year. Ms. Palin was booked on grueling interviews with hostile reporters while talk-show hosts such as Glenn Beck couldn't even get through to her aides. Mr. Beck tells me he was stunned when he picked up the phone one day just before the election to discover Sarah Palin was on the other end of the line. "She explained that she had been blocked from reaching her audience, so she was now 'going rogue' and booking her own interviews," Mr. Beck told me. "I was thrilled she had burst out of the cage they'd built for her and we were finally talking."

That incident was the only time Ms. Palin declared her independence from her keepers, and it's fitting that the title of her upcoming book will be "Going Rogue: An American Life."

Sounds like Palin won’t have nice things to say about the McCain staffers. I hope she tears them each a new one and unlike the cowardly staffers who anonymously bashed her after the campaign, you just know Sarah is going to call them out by name.

FEMA gives money to ACORN?

Earlier this month and despite the public scrutiny over the voter fraud and felony criminal activity associated with ACORN, the Department of Homeland Security went ahead and granted $997,402 to ACORN under the FY 2008 Fire Prevention and Safety Program.

To most people, the timing and the amount of the grant would seem off base, but when you take into account the fact that DHS awarded ACORN–an organization with no clear expertise in fire safety and prevention–a fire prevention and safety grant, it’s just plain offensive.

With fire departments all over Louisiana – and the rest of the country – struggling to make ends meet and get the equipment and training they need to protect their local communities, the idea of a million dollar grant going to ACORN is unsettling, to say the least.

I’ve had grave reservations about ACORN for some time, and over the past year we’ve seen numerous examples of serious allegations of wrongdoing on the part of this organization and its employees across the country. I simply can’t see the logic behind diverting much needed funding from worthy fire departments to this organization.

So last week, I wrote a letter to Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano requesting that she rescind this grant from ACORN. As of today, the Secretary has not responded to my request. This site will post a copy of the letter for you to read and see for yourself.

Rest assured, I’ll keep working to help prevent further ACORN schemes to procure federal money

Is there no government agency that doesn’t give money to ACORN? No wonder they stand to gain access to $8.5 billion in stimulus funds, they are probably getting a couple million from a hundred different agencies. I knew about their voter fraud and their partnership with the Census, but their relationship with the IRS and FEMA seems like too much.

Here is something else I want to know, so many liberals still support ACORN, citing ACORN’s work for the poor. Ok fine, if that is what they believe then why not let them put their money where their mouth is and fund this shady organization themselves. Enough with giving ACORN our tax dollars!

The Washington Post is having a contest for America’s Next Great Pundit. While I doubt that WaPo will ultimately pick a conservative pundit, but I do think it is worth a try for anyone who isn’t a blogger or is thinking of starting a blog.

For those more established bloggers, I don’t really see a benefit. Many have already made a name for themselves in the bogosphere and have quite a following. Case in point, William Jacobson over at Le·gal In·sur·rec·tion just got his 1,000,000^th hit on his blog today.

My thoughts on Darrion Albert's death

By now you have all seen this video on Fox News or YouTube (h/t to Arlene Army who told me about it late last night) so I am not going to replay the gruesome scene again.

When I first saw the video, all of the obvious things ran through my head. The senseless gang violence, the destruction of our youth, our over violent culture and so forth. However the thing that angered me was that once again here were black youths savaging one another. Have we no respect for ourselves?

I cannot tell you how sick and tired I am of seeing, hearing or reading about black on black violence. Look up the statistics of black on black crime and your eyes will pop out of your head. Despite these alarming numbers, black leaders of today seem to have the most tepid response to the issue.

If this gang fight did not happen to throw a disparaging shadow on Chicago’s bid for the Olympics, would Darrion’s senseless death ever have made national news? From what I have heard, this is the third such gang fight to happen in that area since school started.

Now if Darrion were killed at the hands of white teens, the entire world would have come to a sudden stop. The so called leaders of the black community would have flown out of the woodwork to protest, demand justice and scream to the high holy heavens. But let a bunch of black kids tear themselves apart and destroy their lives and you hardly hear a peep out of anyone. Paging Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, where are you?

Glorification of the “gangsta life” is everywhere in black culture. It is in the music, the videos and almost everything else our youth consume. Where are the black parents, teachers and leaders to say; “enough of this shit”! Where is the Congressional Black Caucus or the NAACP to speak out on the destruction of our people from within? Again, all they offer are tepid responses.

As you are all well aware, I have no love for Obama’s whacked out Socialist polices. However, I do have great respect for Obama as a role model for the black community. He is educated, he clearly loves and respects his wife and he is a good and providing father to his children. He has spoken to blacks about the importance of education, the need to strive and fatherhood. As President of the United States, Obama is in a unique and possibly once in a lifetime position to finally bring attention to black on black violence.

Others have tried to raise the awareness of this subject, but none have had the soapbox Obama has. With such overwhelming support of blacks, I hope Obama takes advantage of this opportunity to speak out on this dire issue.

I am not sure what the heck to make of this. Are they saying “Obama” or “Oh God”? I cannot tell for sure. However holding a mock funeral and praying for health care reform is just plain nuts!

Leftist are always going on and on and on about empowering minorities, the poor and other members with victim status. But in reality all they do is promote weakness. Really, praying for health care reform? It would be bad enough if they were asking God to give them the grace so that they could pursue health care reform on their own, but straight out asking for reform, oh boy.

Why on earth are people defending Roman Polanski?

As readers will notice I rarely comment on celebrities unless they stick their head into the political world. This is because I find many of today’s celebrities to be nothing more than bed hopping, drug addicted, script reading half-wits who get far more attention than they deserve. That being said, I was not going to comment on Roman Polanski’s arrest because he is a degenerate child molester who finally got what he deserved.

However, I have been taken aback by some people’s ridiculous defense of this monster! The most notable of the Polanski apologist is that crazy piece that appeared in the Washington Post by Anne Applebaum (who by the way has a conflict of interest regarding Polanski). Basically what Applebaum’s argument boils down to is; why is anyone still concerned about Polanski’s case? WTF? THE MAN RAPED A LITTLE GIRL!!!!!

Polanski pleaded guilty at his trial and fled before sentencing. For some 30 years he did not live like Saddam Hussein in some dirty spider hole. No, this MoFo lived the life of Reilly, with fancy homes, a jet set European lifestyle and even won awards. For that, I think Polanski deserves double his original sentence should he be extradited to the US.

No doubt should Polanski be brought to the US, the fuzzy logic half-wits in Tinsel Town will be stomping their Birkenstocks for his release! Pathetic!

Sarah Palin’s memoir “Going Rogue: An American Life” set for Nov. 17 release

Sarah Palin the ever-diligent former governor of Alaska has finished her 400-page memoir early. So instead of being released next spring her publisher has moved the date up to November 17, just in time for Christmas.

NEW YORK — Sarah Palin (PAY'-lin) has finished her memoir just four months after the book deal was announced. Her publisher says the release date has been moved up from the spring to Nov. 17.

Harper publisher Jonathan Burnham says the former Alaska governor invested herself deeply and passionately in the project. He says the book contains fascinating detail.

The 400-page book is the first for Palin, who has been an object of fascination since Republican Sen. John McCain chose her as his running mate during his 2008 presidential bid. The book will be called "Going Rogue: An American Life."

A huge first printing of 1.5 million copies has been commissioned by Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins.

Make no mistake this book is going to sell, sell, sell. Palin fan will rush to buy the book, those who are on the fence about Palin will buy it out of curiosity and Palin-haters will buy it for opposition research.

Her publisher Harper Collins thinks it will be a big sell too. From The Hill:

According to the AP, the publishing company has ordered 1.5 million copies of the book's first edition -- the same amount the late-Sen. Edward Kennedy's (D-Mass.) publisher requested of the "Liberal Lion's" now-popular memoir, released shortly after his death.

An interesting tidbit, Lynn Vincent is the collaborator on Going Rogue. Lynn Vincent also co-authored Donkey Cons: Sex, Crime, and Corruption in the Democratic Party with Robert Stacy McCain from The Other McCain. So if you want a sneak peek at how Going Rogue might read, get yourself a copy of Donkey Cons.

I for one hope that Palin uses a few pages to deliver a smack down or two to the inept McCain staffers, if not John McCain himself. That dreadful campaign did more damage to Palin than most of the left’s mudslinging.

Allahpundit over at Hot Air thinks Palin may use her book to position herself as a libertarian alternative to Romney and Huckabee.

"Right", Said Fred! Fred Thompson Backs a Conservative Over GOP Nominee

Former GOP presidential candidate Fred Thompson just announced he's backing the Conservative Party candidate in the special election in New York's 23rd district.

In the latest sign that GOP state Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava could have trouble on her right flank, the former senator from Tennessee is backing Doug Hoffman over his own party's nominee.

"Doug is a conservative, who understands that our freedom is our greatest strength, that life is a precious gift, and that getting back to our founding principles will ensure our nation's security and prosperity for us and for our children and grandchildren," Thompson said in an e-mail from his political action committee, FredPAC. The e-mail includes a link to a page for donations to Hoffman's campaign.

The conservative Club for Growth has also toyed with backing Hoffman over Scozzafava, releasing a poll last week that showed an even race.

One wonders if some other conservative Republican icons might get involved on Hoffman's behalf. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee sure hasn't been afraid to ruffle feathers.

It is good to see someone stand up for real conservatives. The GOP seems hell bent of digging up mushy middle of the road RINOs, despite the fact that it is conservatives who are effectively slowing Obama’s hard left agenda.

Opposing the GOP’s crummy RINO candidates during the primary is the way to go. The GOP stands to gain from the backlash against Democrats, so we might as well stack the deck with real conservatives. Otherwise we risk replacing Congress with a new one that still embraces the same wrong-headed ideals.

As to wondering what other Republican icon would get involved on Hoffman’s behalf, how come the Hill chooses Huckabee when Sarah Palin clearly has far more pull?

The Guessing Game: The Death of Census Worker Bill Sparkman

Since the death of Census worker Bill Sparkman was reported last week, there seems to be no end to guessing what was the cause of his murder. Upon hearing the gruesome details about how his body was found with his ID taped to him and the words “Fed” scrawled across his chest, many on the left have instantly jumped to the conclusion that Sparkman’s death was the result of anti-government sentiment whipped up by the right.

The left blame two of their favorite targets, Glenn Beck and Michelle Bachmann. Beck gets blamed for his anti-Washington tone and Bachmann because she spoke out against the Census (the leave out that ACORN’s involvement had a lot to do with her reservations).

The right is obviously willing to entertain different ideas, taking into account the location of the murder. The area of Kentucky where the body was found is known for meth labs and marijuana fields. Dan Riehl from Riehl World View offers another perspective, suggesting that Sparkman may have been a child predator.

There really is no way of know for sure what the motive was behind Sparkman’s murder at this time. However, one blogger has decided not to sit at home and speculate. RS McCain from The Other McCain is actually on a road trip to Kentucky to get a first hand account. When it comes to getting the true details, nothing beats good old fashion shoe leather.

India’s newspaper The Pioneer offers a blistering critique of Obama’s foreign policy chops. While America’s newspapers seem to bend over backwards to make Obama look competent, the foreign press is under no such obligation. The critiques are blistering because they see Obama as the empty suit he actually is.

Obama is ruining India’s security climate

He may not relish the comparison but it is now becoming increasingly obvious that Mr Barack Obama is the most hostile American President for India since Richard Nixon. In the eight months he has been in office, Mr Obama has snubbed India more than once. He has sent repeated signals that New Delhi is not integral to his Asian security architecture. Partly as a result of his country’s economic crisis, he has bent over backwards to accommodate China. His open advocacy of protectionism has been most visibly targeted at outsourcing of technology jobs to India. He headlined anti-trade legislation by saying it would punish those who created jobs in Bangalore rather than Buffalo, a special mention that was extraordinarily impolitic and did not go unnoticed in India. In contrast, the tariff war against Chinese tyres has not been posited in such stark bilateral terms. This past week, the Obama team reversed a decade of American nuclear pragmatism and went back to an outdated non-proliferation agenda that should have died, really, in the 1990s. Once more, India has been asked to give up its nuclear weapons and sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty as a second-tier power. Most alarmingly, Mr Obama has swung wildly on Afghanistan-Pakistan (AfPak). At various points his diplomats and Generals have said different things. Yet, in all this the overarching political message has been missing.

There has been a remarkable absence of clarity on Mr Obama’s strategic goals. In the early months, it was easy to pretend he was making up his mind. Now, it would seem he has no mind. His confusion on AfPak and constant shifting of tactical milestones would suggest he has little understanding of the nature of the challenge there and, behind those engaging phrases, is thoroughly confused. If the Obama Administration’s most recent thoughts on AfPak are taken as final, the American President is looking to cut and run. He would want to begin bringing troops home by early 2012, in time for his re-election. This would mean delegating Afghanistan to the Pakistani Army, and asking it to control the Taliban. It would also activate a lethal Saudi-Pakistani-Taliban alliance. This formidable combination of wealth, geography, religious appeal, unending foot-soldiers and nuclear weapons would create a monster power straddling south and west Asia. To some degree, it could be offset by a strong India and a stable Iran, which would flank AfPak. However, Mr Obama is determined that Teheran must not pursue its Bomb and India should be pressured to sign the NPT. Strangely, he has not considered asking Pakistan to give up its nukes in return for billions of dollars of “sustained and expanded commitment”.

Given the intensely and admirably egalitarian nature of the United States presidential election process, it has always been a theoretical possibility that the country will send to the White House a person inexperienced in global affairs and unequal to the international situation before him. Often this has not been the case, and incumbents have risen to the job. Sixty years ago, Harry S Truman had limited first-hand knowledge of great power bargaining but turned out to be farsighted enough to anticipate the Cold War. Mr Obama is the antithesis of this phenomenon. He is completely out of his depth and will probably leave behind a dangerous and unsure legacy. India could have done without this neophyte.

A local TV station that reported on Chicagoans NOT wanting the Olympics has been told NOT to run the report again, insiders tell the DRUDGE REPORT!

The Chicago Olympic Committee told FOX Chicago that its broadcast "would harm Chicago's chances" to be awarded the games.

The station's news director ordered staff to hold fire after the report aired once last Thursday morning, claims a source.

Chicago, Madrid, Tokyo and Rio are mounting strong bids for the honor to host in 2016.

The International Olympic Committee makes its decision on Friday. First Lady Michelle Obama will lead the in-person push.

The New York Times calls its bias "insuffient tuned-in-ness"

The New York Times published the nuttiest thing I ever read today. The Public Opinion Editor, Clark Hoyt, tried to explain why the New York Times was so slow in reporting the Van Jones and ACORN stories.

In a nutshell he chalks it up to “insufficient tuned-in-ness” (how’s that for an ugly use of the English language) to conservative opinion sources. Meanwhile as he describes the turn of events that led to the Times insufficient tuned-in-ness, he ends up giving example after example of the paper’s bias towards conservatives.

Hoyt tells us that the Times has solved the problem of “insufficient tuned-in-ness” by appointing an unnamed editor to “monitor opinion media” (i.e. Fox News, talk radio and the conservative blogosphere)

This is such a joke. Does the Times actually think that will bring them up to speed? Basically they are going to pay some editor to sit and watch Glenn Beck, listen to Rush and read Michelle Malkin and think that they will be up to speed with conservative “opinion media”. Excuse me while I laugh myself silly!

The conservative blogosphere alone moves at the speed of light. I am already embarrassingly late posting on this topic; surely The New York Times with its vast resources can shoot for better.

The New York Times problem has always been its bias. It can make excuses all over the place, but we all know it is the bias. Hoyt himself make that clear when he said this [emphasis added]:

But for days, as more videos were posted and government authorities rushed to distance themselves from Acorn, The Times stood still. Its slow reflexes — closely following its slow response to a controversy that forced the resignation of Van Jones, a White House adviser — suggested that it has trouble dealing with stories arising from the polemical world of talk radio, cable television and partisan blogs. Some stories, lacking facts, never catch fire. But others do, and a newspaper like The Times needs to be alert to them or wind up looking clueless or, worse, partisan itself.

How polemical can these sources be when the were correct about both stories? That is where the problem lies New York Times. Luckily Michelle Malkin offers a helping hand to the new Tuned-in-ness Editor.

Personally I have no problem with the New York Times' bias. What bothers me the most is their utter dishonesty about it. I have far more respect for the Daily Kos, Huffington Post and leftwing bloggers because they are upfront about their slant. They do not pretend to be anything else but left of center. The New York Times would go a long way in improving their credibility if they would simply come out of their make believe closet once and for all.
