Scott saw the Entering Orleans sign that I had for sale at the Red Inn in Provincetown and asked if I had any of Provincetown. The one I had at the inn had already sold so I told him that I would paint it again for him. I just can't seem to keep these in stock-they are so popular!

Bernie and his wife take a vacation in Provincetown every summer. They like to stay at a beautiful place called Masthead Resort on Commercial Street. You can always tell where it is from the beach by the bright blue umbrellas that line the deck along the shore.
He asked me to paint this as a surprise gift for his wife.

Jim asked me to paint this for his girlfriend, my cousin Amy. She is the only girl amongst several brothers. Jim knew that this image was special to Amy because it is the only baby picture she has and it also is the only one with her and her brother Teddy (far left) that died of pneumonia at the young age of 5.
I just loved their matching outfits and that they look to be holding golf clubs. My grandfather instilled in them a love of golf at a young age!

Bill asked me if I would paint a large commission to hang at his swimming pool in Provincetown. I proposed several ideas and we landed on this one of six rainbow clad bathing suit boys on the beach looking out on Long Point Light.

Andy asked me to create a painting of this house on Nantucket for his dad, Allen. Allen is the live in resident and caretaker of "The Heath House" from May to October every year. He recently completed his third decade as the Middle Moors ranger for the Nantucket Conservation Foundation and this was a gift for his 80th birthday.
The black cat was a last minute addition to the painting. Andy told me that his dad is a "cat guy" and often had cats roaming around his property. This skinny black cat, Augie, is one of his favorites.

We'll be making our way up to this beautiful place on Cape Cod this Saturday to deliver this 62nd painting I have done of The Red Inn on Commercial Street in Provincetown, MA.
In this version, I focused a little more on the archway that displays the 3 red signs welcoming you to enjoy the Raw Bar, Cocktails, or Brunch. Or all 3.

Susan asked if I would paint a picture for her mother who is originally from the south. She suggested a southern magnolia flower as a subject and I found some wonderful references that I merged into making this painting. I hadn't painted flowers in awhile so this commission was very freeing and fun to paint.

My aunt Betsy asked me to paint this beautiful scene of her sister, my other aunt, Lyn, with all of her kids on vacation in Mexico. As we all get older, it can be a rare moment when you are all together. And doesn't this look like fun?

Sarah wanted to commission a painting for her nephew as a surprise 40th birthday gift. She found out that he and his wife love this waterfront restaurant in Hyannis on Cape Cod so she asked if I would paint it for them. If you look closely, you will see Eric and his wife dining at one of the outdoor tables.

Next up in my Girl Power series is this carefree girl enjoying a quiet moment by herself on a swing. There's nothing like a swing to make you feel like a child again. I remember me and my friends seeing how high we could go, them jumping off the swing into the grass. Those were the days.

Mark wanted to surprise his wife Noreen for their 35th wedding anniversary so he asked if I would paint one of their favorite places as a gift for her. He had seen a similar painting I had done that was already sold and asked if I could replicate it for her. I mentioned to him that this was the 61st painting of the inn that I have done over the last several years and it never gets old!
They were staying for a few days at the inn and he had the waitstaff bring it to the table a surprise during their anniversary dinner. So sweet.

Chelsea has found her way home to her cottage on Cape Cod. Chuck said "We’ve missed Chelsea every day since she left us, but today is a little better. Special thanks to @anngorbett for sharing her talent and capturing Chelsea’s sweet soul so well. Also, hug your dog today, they leave us way too soon."

Happy Memorial Day-the unofficial start of the summer.
You be hard pressed not to see a scene like this if you are visiting Cape Cod, Nantucket, or Martha's Vineyard this weekend. And it's hard for an artist to resist painting these colorful subjects.

We've been seeing a lot of birds in our yard lately...at the birdbath...at the birdhouse...in the trees...and on the roof. They are excited about the nicer weather for sure. You can tell by all the tweeting going on.

I love this view of Provincetown because it shows the Pilgrim Tower, the library, as well as two other church towers in the background. I also love this time of day when the tide is partially out and you are able to walk out on the sandbars. I decided to make the sky more interesting using color and clouds.

Polo and I have been working on an exciting new project for the Zullo Gallery in Medfield MA. The gallery director received a grant to put on an augmented reality art show this summer and we were invited to participate along with 9 other artists. It has been a huge learning curve and a lot of work as we explored how to create using this brand new medium.
In a follow up post, I will share how our pieces turned out, but if you are in the area, please take a day to explore the art for yourself.

Believe it or not, this is the 60th painting I have done of The Red Inn in Provincetown on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. The inn's opening day for the 2024 season was April 25 and this painting made it's way up there for sale.

April 25-28 is the annual Daffodil Festival on Nantucket. In celebration of this fun event, I painted this view of the Sanity Lighthouse on Nantucket with a field of yellow daffodils in the foreground.
