I'm not normally like this

Today I passed rows and rows of lush green trees, bows heavy laden with fruit, fruit I hadn't seen before, black, and thin, very thin. I was told later they were silicos trees, the fruits are harvested when they turn a silvery-gray and are processed. The end result: microprocessors. I'm in Silicon Valley.

None of you guessed why a drive around Infinite Loop was so absolutely thrilling to me. (Ab-so-lute-ly thrilling, I tell you, thrilling.) I'm so disappointed in you. All of you. I'll give you a clue: my phone was excited to be home.

OK, maybe I went too far with the absolutely part.

I didn't think you were in China. I'm pretty sure that's where your phone was born.

I said home, not born. :)

Hi Anne. OK, so I'm late to the party, but any geek knows that Infinite Loop is home to Apple's HQ. Damn, you made a pilgrimage. How cool!

I haven't had the privilege of visiting Apple, but I remember feeling similarly anointed a couple of years back when I got to spend time on Microsoft's campus. It's bigger than life in more ways than one.

I'll go touch my son's iMac to complete the spiritual loop.

Didja get pics? Did you wear a black turtleneck and jeans in honor of the day?

Oh.

This was just another effort to rub in the whole "I have an iPhone and you don't, Lorraine" thing.

I must say I am completely underwhelmed. I guess I just don't get it.

Then again, when I was recently in the Verizon store and told I qualified for a new phone, I told the rep, "no thanks." He looked at me like I was insane.

I guess I just don't appreciate this stuff.

A pilgrimage, yes, that's it. I just drove around The Loop, didn't even get out of the car.

I'm not trying to run my iPhone in your face, Lorraine, really, I just love my (our) Apple laptop and iPods. I hate Microsoft, really, so it was also a victory lap.

Anne.. an Apple pilgrimage.. I am so jealous! I watched the developers presentation on version 2.0 of the iPhone software and if I wasn't envious before.. now I have to get one!

Just me, don't let my wife know, but I don't see much difference between a Mac laptop and a PC laptop.
Ipods are cool tho.

Man, do I feel out of the loop here. No pun inteded. Just not a geek. I have to call on my son if there's a computer problem. And as far as Apple or Microsoft, I could care less as long as it works right. I fooled with Julie's Mac while I was visiting her in Texas and I just couldn't get used to the thing.

But I do dream of an Ipod one day.
