presentation for MMI is finally over.
boy i feel relieved. a sense of closure.
yet this feeling of emptiness floats by every now and then.
as if something important's taken away from me.
almost half of us stayed awake the night before chionging (or tried to) and turned up in class with bloodshot eyes.
like poor sufyan who was trying hard to keep awake cracking jokes before his turn; who fell fast asleep immediately after presenting.
like paris who was frantically applying makeup cos she thought she looked damn chui.
like rf who said she'll sleep if she continued staying in that same position.
for me i think i'm used to it so i looked pretty normal, except spacing out once in a while & tripping over my feet during lunch HAHA.
yea anyway.
a few of my classmates' works i found interesting.
(sorry no photos, i was too lazy to whip out my cam)
rf made this huge folder of canvas materials, with 2 pockets in them.
one of them consisted of smaller canvases, on which she did her digital transfers and painted different surrealistic landscapes/faces/objects that represented her.
somehow those pieces, when put together, formed a vague but cleverly-rendered self-portrait.
really beautiful; doing something fine-arts-based is so her.
renz did this mini-installation; two professionally-made boxes of some of his amazing photographs he took during his several trips overseas.
they kinda represented him cos he really loves travelling. and photography.
(think flying to paris for 1 week in the middle of the school term)
those photos were iron-ons on cotton using digital transfer as well and were overlapped with other photos on transparency (i think).
they had to be viewed over lightboxes, so once you switched on the light you could see those images so clearly.
once again uncle showed his obsession with lights lol.
mei's one was this snake-and-ladder game made up entirely of boxes of images done on cloth using disperse dye transfer. (and/or crayon transfer)
the numbers were kinda related to age, with certain connections between the images that were linked by the snake or the ladder.
tremendous amount of effort spent.
ky did this normal booklet.
but don't be deceived.
there was this page of beautiful calligraphic painting done by him!
with a poem he painted from my beloved san guo serial drama.
what's more, it was done using thinner transfer la, the effect was sooo good.
a modern calligrapher indeed.
kevin's one was SO SWEET!
as an ex interior design student, he was more inclined towards something 3D.
so he made this very-cleverly designed box made up of geometrically-orientated strips of wood, like a skeleton of wood with photos on certain strips within the box.
this work was inspired by his girlfriend and the fleming's left-hand rule.
from an angle, we could see a couple of photos of her.
behind them, there were photos of him.
turn the box a little more, we could see photos of places and things that represent them.
so those photos could be viewed from 6 different angles!
he said the reason why photos of him were bnw while photos of her were coloured is because she's the colour of his life.
AWWWW.
everyone was like stunned and awwww-ed, especially the girls lol.
we predicted that he'll be the first in our class to get married HAHA.
despite those late nights MMI has given us,
i'm sure we all secretly enjoyed doing this project.
it's been a fulfilling journey for many of us.
myself included.

every drawer contains something personal.
(other than the last one, my mmi processbook)
something like this:

thinner transfer is love.
my side of the room has never been this messy.

okay i wish i took photos during the presentation.
oh well, there's always next time.
shan't be lazy then.
wanna end off by saying: I LOVE 2D! (:

november november.
perhaps i'll wake up one day and realise that this has been a dream afterall.
10 months of 2008 seemed to pass by in a blur.
it feels surreal, somehow.
when i look back, for some reason the memories of 2007 are more vivid than those of 2008.
weird huh.
but well, anything is better than waking up on my bed one morning and finding myself transformed into a horrible vermin right?
anyway, nowadays it's just MMI all the way. (:
the panicking for lit and WAH will come very soon i expect.
HAHA oh no.
come 20th nov, there'll be other stuff going on as well.
preparation for sojourn & WMC.
all that pnp stuff; running about designing stuff (that's what happens when you don't have photoshop in your half-dead laptop);
band pracs.
then there's choir with all the caroling stuff.
looking forward to sing Christmas carols and exalt His name!
oh oh, and class lunches. (:
i'm praying that PQ rehires me this holiday.
gonna work for practical reasons, such as lessening the burden for my mbp buy.
don't think i can survive without it next year.
but still, so ex lor. ):
and and,
my dearest scandal is coming back end dec!
yayyyeeeee. (:
must meet up sia, it's been so long. GRIN.
thinking whether i should go for alumni. sigh.
feeling incoherent.
maybe i'm better off a vermin LOL just kidding.
wearing our 3D bodycover makes me feel like one anyway hahaha.
quaquaquaqua.
YAWNS.
(think my roomie's the only one here who understands my use of "quaquaquaqua" and vermin)
sorry for all the acronyms.
er must clarify.
MMI = me, myself and i (lame title for a project, no?)WAH = western art history (WAHleo!nardo da vinci)WMC = world music contestPQ = pei qimbp = macbookproLOL = laugh out loud -.-3D = three-dimensional(sorry just being stupid here heehee)

this crisis is too big for me to handle.
shows that nothing on earth is eternal, really.
tough days ahead.
but we shall overcome,
all praise goes to the Maker of this earth.

though for a short while,
talking to you has so totally made my day!

less than 2 hours till lesson starts;
and i'm finally done with my weird-looking drawing.
all the while listening to joe hisaishi's piano stories and orchestra pieces.
you know, his amazing works never fail to strike a chord in my heart.
showering my body with rains of nostalgia,
and piercing my heart with arrows of melancholy.
every single cell in me tingles as the sound of his music fills my ears.
so many familiar tunes.
if a high-pitched violin melody can be played soulfully and in tune,
woah i'm sure goosebumps would creep all over me.
my memory leads me back to animations medley,
one of the most memorable band pieces to me.
because it represented my struggles in those days.
oh how i can so identify with those feelings right now.
a timely memory-stirrer indeed.
i love the sound of the cello.
that deep, mellow, string-y sound.
it makes me wonder why it is invented to make humans feel the way i feel now.
why does music exist?
to trap me in this bubble i'm in at this moment?
oh dear, i'm turning nocturnal.
