Anne's email 1-25-15

Oh man, time seems likes its going by so fast. I only feel so much
peace as I go about every day now. As I talk with people on the
streets and teach lessons to investigators I feel full to the brim
just to be apart of this work. I don't feel like it's ending at all,
not one bit. I just know how to do missionary work now and I will
continue to do it. You bet the provo sister missionaries are my new
best friends. I love missionary work. I love you all. I love my
Savior.

This week was wonderful as usual! This email is going to be shorter
because I don't have a lot of time today. But we have met with lots of
investigators and I guess I will tell you about a couple lessons we
had, on Wednesday we had a lesson with Hiyori in the morning and she
tries so hard to strengthen her faith. We talked about the plan of
salvation and how we can live as families together forever. She told
us, "I only want to be where my husband is, if I'm not with him, it
won't be heaven for me." We promised her that both her husband and her
could be together forever if she made those certain steps in life to
follow Jesus Christ, we want to see if next time we can meet with both
her and her husband, he is a pretty strong buddhist.

On Thursday we had lunch with a lady who was really curious about us
as missionaries. She is a piano student of sister Iwanaga in our ward
and sister Iwanaga brought us over and she was so amazing. Iwanaga
Shimai is a bomb missionary. She basically taught her about the
restoration and we just smiled and bore our testimonies and gave her
the tools to do it. I love the members so much!

Later that day we went to Sato san's apartment and taught her about
finding faith in Christ and she says she wants to follow his example
and be baptized but she won't be able to come to church that much for
a while because she is getting treatments done to see if she has
cancer. Please pray for her that she can make this step. We love her.

We met this random lady on Friday who was a former investigator and
she came to a baptismal service the church had on Saturday night and
she left within the first ten minutes of it and we had to go see if
she was okay and she was having a hard time we found out a whole bunch
of her life out there and she has had it pretty rough, she was able to
watch the baptism and it lifted her spirits a lot but we aren't sure
how to help her, hopefully it will work out for her.

On Sunday Hiroko, our brazilian friend, came to church and I tried my
best to speak some portuguese to her but I usually can only speak
japanese with her. But she is wonderful anyway, the ward loves her and
we are excited for her. She is going home to Okinawa next weekend to
figure out when and where she should be baptized with her family, I am
so excited for her. Her brother is going to baptize her. So wonderful!
I loved having Jordan baptize me. It was special to me and I know it
will be special to her.

I know that this is God's work and it is done in his own time and in
his own way. I love Japan and the people I have met here. They have
such beautiful hearts. I am so incredibly blessed.

Love, Sister Staples

Rosie baby sweetie! Just hold on! Auntie Anne will be there in a couple weeks just hold on sweetness! I love you baby girl! Dahhhhh! She is sooooooo cute! I love her so much and can't wait to hold her! Jordan is a daddy!!!!! I am soooooooooo happy that he is finally a daddyyyy!!!

It been another great week n Chiba and I just love this place. I am so glad that I get to end here and be with so many amazing people. I love how much cleaner our apartment is now, we threw away stuff that was from 10 years ago it looks like. But we found a whole bunch of eikaiwa records and so we dendoed the poeple in them, we called them all and reinvitied them back to eikaiwa. We called this lady who is trying to read the bible in English and loves the bible, we set up an appointment with her for Friday and sister Sakamoto and sister Rodriguez went and saw her on exchanges. She is so awesome! They gave her a Book of Mormon.

Aiko is doing great, a member named sister Williams came with us over to her house we taught her about how to keep the sabbath day holy, Aiko completely accepted it all and she loved it so much. Sister Williams was such an awesome member missionary! Sister Williams told us afterwards that she prayed the whole time that she would know what to say to help her. Aiko also came to the relief society opening social on Saturday and all of church today. She brought her son and daughter with her today And they had fun participating in yw and primary, (I only had to stay with hajime for the first ten minutes of primary and then he was okay! So proud of him!) her husband is hantai but we are praying that his heart can be softened. One thing that I noticed during the sacrament was how special Aiko made it for her son. It was her first time and I explained to her before they passed the bread and water meant and it just seemed so natural to her she completely took it all in and appreciated it more than I have ever seen someone do. After she took of e sacrament she held her little boy close and she whispered in his ear, "think of Jesus please, because of him we can all go to heaven again and be forgiven. Remember what he did for us." And I heard her quietly praying to herself, I felt kind of bad that I could hear her but it was so tender. She poured her heart out in prayer to Heavenly Father and gave her gratitude to the savior for his sacrifice. It moved me so much, I have been baptized for 14 years now and I never have appreciated it like that, she strengthened my testimony more of the atonement and the sacrament more than anyone else has. It brought tears to my eyes and it really deepened my understanding and appreciation of the atonement. I am so grateful for her example of love for the Savior and appreciation for his sacrifice.

On Thursday We had an first appointment with Hiyori who was an investigator up until I first got here, but then she had to get a serious surgery done twice and she just recovered and came back to english class. We asked her about her background and what she has learned from the missionaries and she asked is to read the Book of Mormon with her. She said that she has read it twice, she has been meeting with the missionaries to 15 years. She made us pizza for lunch and then she pulled out her Book of Mormon full of markings and letters to begin our study. She asked us what we should read and sister Sakamoto said, "let's read Enos!" We shared Enos with her and she started to tear up at verse 27. I asked her how she felt about it and she looked up at us and she said, "it makes me feel so safe." I love how that is what the savior always promises us; safety in his arms. She then began to explain how she was diagnosed with cancer last year and this verse makes her feel so much happier and at peace. I admire her so much and am so grateful for her.

We went to go visit our french friend named Silvy on Saturday night and she came out with the Book of Mormon in her hand and she said, "I can't believe in God, I just can't I don't think I ever will." She was almost aggressive at first but then we just let her calm down and we really had to rely on the spirit and we testified to her of the love of God and the strength we gain from having faith and she told us she wanted to to let us in but she had to make dinner. We set up an appointment with her for next week and we are going to take it slow because she is going through a lot but we know that she has it in her, she has faith in God she just needs to let the spirit touch her heart.

I feel so much more peace more in my mission now than I have ever felt. I feel so good and I feel like I have done my best to give myself to the lord. I have found that he has blessed me in more ways than I have recognized and I am so grateful for what this experience has given me. I know that with God anything is possible. This experience has been the hardest of my life but it has been the best experience for my life. I love you all so much.
