This primitive Vulture is made out of White Cherry wood. My dear sweet hubby cut out and then sanded the wood for this project. He then painted the eyes, body and wings black, the head flesh and the beak honey.  I added a length of white feather boa around his neck. I attached two bones to his body with rusty wire and hung a loop of jute to his hunched back for easy hanging. The Vulture is 161/2 x 10. With the bones it measures 25" tall, each of the bones are 2.5"wide x 6 long. I sealed the entire Vulture and bones with Thompsons clear water sealer, though watch out for rain when hanging outside...I wouldn't let the feathers get wet.
We used a pattern by Chubs and Co.
What a great primitive Halloween decoration this would make hanging in an entry way, on the porch or in nearby trees to scare the little children on All Hallows Eve! Hahahahaha!

I started with muslin that I stuffed and painted. The wings are hand stitched on from the outside in four places for extra security. I attached a jute hanger for easy hanging in the trees, on the porch or wherever you would like your scarey vulture to hang. I painted his head flesh color, his beak honey and his eyes black with acrylics then I finished him off by wrapping a white or black feather boa around his neck. He is about 15 inches tall and 12 inches wide. I made these primitive vultures from a Chubs and Co. pattern and aren't they just magnificent?! Wait until the kids get a look at these birds keeping guard over the Halloween Candy! Hang them from the trees or from the porch, they can even sway back and forth in the breeze for a realistic look.

"This Creepy Witch is from a Kentucky Primitives pattern. From deep in the woods, back in the shadows, lives the old witch & her crow.
She is extremely primitive, old & tattered and faded looking.
She has an old spiral witch hat. She holds her old long skinny crow. She is just a wonderful doll." A quote from Victoria Lynn at Kentucky Primitives
She is a big girl at 36 inches from her feet to her curled hat and her crow is 16 inches long.

This spooky ghost is a Tennessee ridge primitives pattern by Becky Erickson that I made using muslin that I tightly stuffed with morning glory poly fill. He has a nice sturdy feel to him. Then I painted Mr. Ghostie antique white, coffee stained and then sprinkled with cinnamon. I painted some black eyes and a mouth on for his face that you can see through his sheet. His "sheet" is coffee stained cheese cloth that I baked and then sprinkled with cinnamon. He smells yummy! I made him a rusty pin and rusty bells necklace. There is a wooden dowel in his neck and head and his hands are rusty wired to hold his primitive pumpkin which is painted and stained muslin stuffed hard with morning glory poly fill, tied with jute and I inserted a real wood stem. Topping this pumpkin off is some primitive Spanish moss and a painted muslin leaf.
His dimensions are 27 inches tall from top of head to bottom of sheet.

That is what is on the work bench for now, I will list new items as I finish them
I take payment by paypal and propay or you can mail me a check.
Thanks for looking and for buying handmade primitives!

Deep in the Woods Witch and Crow

I just listed this wicked fun grungy witch and crow from the "Deep in the Woods" Series by Victoria Lynn at Kentucky Primitives. She is delightfully primitive and to borrow
Victorias description (because she says it so perfectly...)
From deep in the woods, back in the shadows, lives the old witch & her crow.

She is extremely primitive, old & tattered and faded looking.

She has an old spiral witch hat. She holds her old long skinny crow. She is just a wonderful doll.

I made two of these dolls so that I could list one on etsy at www.etsy.com/shop/angelbugprims
and one on ebay at

                               Item number: 120891166375

I just love how she turned out! Thanks for the great pattern Victoria Lynn!

Happy April Everyone!!

Happy April Everyone!!
The crocus and daffodils have sadly gone, giving room for the pretty tulips and hyacinths in my yard. I can't believe the bunnies haven't eaten them all like they did last year. They had a great meal on me...mowing my flowers down to the ground, leaving nothing but little nubby stems!! But not this year! So far anyways!!
I don't know about you but our weather here in Sharon, Pa has been going to extremes. One week it is hot in the 70s-80s then the next it's in the 30s-40s...Brr! We have even had a couple of frost advisories. I am ready for some consistency! Remind me of this when it is full blown summer and I am sweating in the 90 degree weather, panting and searching for some shade...
One of my favorite things to do outside is to paint my prim dolls. All winter long I sew my muslin creations and wait for the snow to melt so that I can go outside and paint them, then hang them in the trees or on the clothes line to dry. Like these new prim Vultures that I just made from a Chubs and Co. Pattern

It's so much nicer than trying to do that in the house without making a mess. Hubby dusted off my work table and brought it outside a few weeks earlier this year for me. He's oh so sweet!! So a painting I did!!
And so to make room for my newest additions, I am having a "Spring Sale" at my etsy shop...www.etsy.com/shop/angelbugprims.
Prices are getting slashed! I have reduced prices on 17+ items so far and I am not done yet! Everything from little bunnies to big mammy dolls. So come take a peek and see if there is anything that would make your prim home that much sweeter!

Yesterday was our very first show "The Covered Bridge" Craft Show. It was at the Reynolds High School and benefited their Key Club. I was super nervous and oh so excited! I didn't sell as much as I would have liked to and learned that you really have to come down on your prices for these shows. So hopefully the next show will be even better! Today I am a slight shade less green and have some experience under my belt!
I wanted to give a great big "Thank You" to everyone who came out to support us, it meant so much!!!

I love meeting new people! Especially crafters. It is amazing to me to see what can be made with just our hands and some imagination, oh the variety of hand crafted items at a craft show. There were things made that I wouldn't have ever thought to make! Such as fabric bowls, made on a basic sewing machine with cording and pretty fabrics and a zig zag stitch!
This new crafty friend that I made is Carolyn Parker and her business is Carolyn's Crafted Collection. She makes the most beautiful hand crafted fabric pottery. You can find her on Facebook, so stop on by and say hi and tell her Angelbugprims sent you!

Until next time, Happy Easter Everyone!!!

Who holds the Key to my Heart?

Karen from The Barely There Primitive Bear, that's who! Congratulations Karen! Please send me your info and I will get this prim nodder out to you asap!
I had so much fun playing this silly Valentine Giveaway and I loved all of the answers given!! I love every song listed and yes some did get stuck in my head for awhile! But when that happens, I just sing out loud...my poor boys! lol!
I especially loved all of the marriage proposals and romantic gestures! You gals got some keepers!! Happy anniversary to all of you!
Angie in Tahoe celebrated her 40th wedding anniversary. Wowie!! Congratulations!! and
Happy Birthday to you Valerie (Birthday Sister!!)
Thank You to all who played along! I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day!

I had surgery on Feb. 13th and spent the following few days in a daze on the couch! For my birthday, my sweet hubby wrapped me in a quilt, plugged in a heating pad and then rented me my top 5 movie picks, the newest Twilight being my favorite and then he handed me a cardboard heart filled with reese's peanut butter cups...yum!...he cooked my favorite meal...chicken salad with fries and ranch! and then we celebrated with a Ultimate Chocolate dairy queen ice cream cake...double yum!
(Hubby says, "it's ok to eat these things on special occasions - the calories don't count! I swear!!")
My four boys, Rusty and I snuggled on the couch and watched movies together all night! What a great night! Oh how I love my family!!!
My favorite animal is the dog. Any dog will do, I am not partial to any particular breed. I love them all! They amaze me with their thought processes and territorial tendencies! My favorite thing to see a dog do is to laugh! Yes, I said to laugh!
Charlie is my dog or better yet, I am his human! I belong to him! He never leaves my side! ever! While I was recovering this past week, he was right there with me. When Buddy and Rusty were going for their walks, Charlie didn't budge! Justin got his leash and called out to entice him, "Come on Charlie, lets go for a walk!" But it didn't work! Justin then proceeded to pick him up and he carried him to the back door but when he set him down to put his leash on his collar, Charlie took off like a bullet and came running back to my side. A frustrated Justin tossed Charlie's leash back in his basket and said "oh, forget it!" He couldn't understand why Charlie didn't want to go for a walk, it was his favorite thing to do next to swimming down in the creek or eating slices of ham! But it made my heart swell just a little to think I meant more to him and that I superseded the Almighty walk!
Dog backwards is God, don't ya know!
