Mother's Day and Kindergarten

This is my mother's day card that Andy left me on the counter with some flowers. He breaks my heart. On the back of it he drew a family picture and now Jellybean is finally making it into family pictures.

Getting mother's day hugs and kisses from the boys. They love their little sister.

About two weeks ago Andy asked me to write out the alphabet for him. I didn't know why he needed me to but every day since then he has copied out the alphabet about 5 times a day. I also find him reading the BOB books to himself and his brother. Any time I catch him doing this I sit down with him and try to move him onto the next level of books. So the words he can read really well right are Mat, Sat, Sam, Cat, and, on, a, the, end, and sad.  He loves to read to anyone who will listen. He is preparing himself for kindergarten! I can't believe how old he is getting.

Out of the mouths of babes...

I wanted to post some funny stories and things that my crazy, cute,
little boys have said or done. They are funny little guys.

Andy: "Mama has a baby growing in her belly!"
Sammy: "Yeah and I growed in Dada's belly."
He's always been a Daddy's boy. He'll even tell me
"I am not your Sambug, I am Dada's Sambug."

I gave my boys lasagna for lunch and told them to eat their noodles. Sammy looked at it and said "This is not noodles..." I told them "They are just big, long noodles. Like pasta. Garfield the cat eats it all the time, he loves lasagna." Andy thought about it for a minute and then asked "Why are we eating cat food?"

When we got home from preschool Andy dumped out about 3 cups of sand from his cowboy boots. I asked him why his boots were full of sand and he told me "I borrowed it from preschool because Papa is going to build me a new sandbox and I need to fill it with sand! I'll just borrow some sand everyday, they have lots of it at preschool" I need to get this kid over to home depot to buy a few bags of sand.

Andy: "Mama, I'm following my erections!"
Me: "You're what???..."
Andy: "See!" (Holds up his Lego directions that he is using to build a castle.)
Sometimes Andy tells me things that require further investigation.
Actual conversation.
Samuel and I are laying in bed, Sammy has a toy snake.

Sammy: (pointing at a gap under some pillows) Dada look at that cave right there.
Me: Wow, that's a neat cave.
Sammy: (referring to the snake) Yeah, that's him home. (not a typo, he really says him instead of his)
Me: It is?
Sammy: Yeah, he has him babies in there, right in there.
Me: Really? Baby Snakes?
Sammy: Yeah, hi...m little babies are in that cave. See he goes in the cave like this.
Me: Is that a Dada snake or a Mama snake? (you have to ask, our boys can't figure out pronouns)
Sammy: It's a Dada snake.
Me: Oh wow. A Dada like me?
Sammy: Yeah.
Me: Do I have babies like the snake?
Sammy: Yeah, I'm your baby.
Me: Yes you are.
Sammy: (back on the snake, much more entertaining than talking about me and my babies) And he goes in the cave and comes back out of the cave, and him babies are in there.
Me: You're so silly Sammy.
Sammy: Yeah...
Sammy: I pooped on the wall today.
Me: Say what!?
Sammy: Yeah, Mama cleaned it up.
Me: uh-oh...

Amber suddenly walks in the room, unaware of the conversation.
Amber: You will not believe what the boys did today! It was disgusting!
Me: Pooped on the wall?

While bent over puking in a bucket (sorry for the imagery, I'm pregnant, ya know it happens...) Andy came up and started patting my back. He said "maybe you need some spikey soda, that always helps my stomach." This affection of course lead me to bawl (pregnancy again, really emotional) and Andy said "It okay mama, I will always take care of you." How does so much compassion and love reside in a 5 year old boy? Andy you are one of a kind.

Today I got to watch the most adorable little girl for a few hours. She was dropped off just as Sammy had left for preschool. Andy's eyes got wide with excitement "We traded Sammy for her!?" I couldn't help myself so I said yes. "Oh, I just love her! I'm so glad we traded, Sammy is always fighting me." Then after a few hours of watching her blow spit bubbles and coo and sit (I love me some baby cuddles!) Andy said in an bored exasperated sigh "Can we trade her back for Sammy now?" Oh my sweet boys, they were meant to be together.

An Enitre Year in Review

It has been an entire year since I have blogged anything! I've just been so busy and have had so much going on that it slipped through the cracks. I'm going to try to catch up on the entire year I have missed and it may take a few posts so hang on! I mostly want to my sure my grandparents, Muffy and Pops who live in California are able to see this again. They love pictures and they love stories, so here's to you Muffy and Pops!

Andy started T-ball. Honestly, at first he hated it. I stuck with it to give him time to understand the game and see if he would start to like it. By the third season in he was really starting to get the hang of it and wanted to go to games. Now, a year later he is starting t-ball again and can not wait! He practices on his t-ball set in the backyard every day. I told him if he practiced real hard his great grandpa Pops would come in all the way from California to see him. Every day now he practices and asks me when Pops is going to come see him.

Papa came to Andy's preschool to perform a magic show.  At this point Andy was still a little shy and not sure about getting up if front on large crowds. When he was brought up on the stage to be his Papa's assistant he was asked "Would you like to be changed into a bunny rabbit?" His response was unexpected, he cried in fear and ran off the stage screaming "Don't turn me into a bunny rabbit!!!" I guess he likes just being a boy.

Sammy started swimming lessons! He is such a little fish. Andy had been taking swimming lessons for months while Sammy and I sat on the side of the pool and watched him. Finally, they started group lessons for mothers and children so I signed Sammy up. He sure loved it! He took to the water like a fish and is still a real good swimmer when we go to the pool.

Sammy turned 2 years old! Because he loves animals and fish so much we got him a fish tank for his birthday. Oh how he loved it! We got him 3 fish and a frog. A month later all he had left was one fish. I think he was overfeeding his fish because he was so excited about it. He has no idea to this day that 75% of his fish friends are gone but he just loves that one fish he has left, still feeding it everyday.

4th of July fireworks at the golf course.

Reading books with Daddy in bed.

                                                                      cuddling with Molly.

In August we took a family vacation to Bryan Head, Bryce and Zions. My boys love "red rocks" and love to be out walking and hiking. There's a lot of animals out there too which is Sammy's favorite thing. We saw over 50 deer. While we were in Bryan Head we took a ski lift to the top of the summit. We decided to hike down. It began raining in the middle of the hike and we were only half way down the mountain so we shoved the boys inside our shirts and cuddled them (it felt like being pregnant again.) The whole hike took over 4 hours but the boys were troopers and didn't complain once!

Completely zonked out on the hike.

This is one of my favorite pictures of the batch because Andy stole the camera from and took a picture of some random strangers who playfully posed for his shot. It came out with only their bottom half.

Andy dutifully did all the requirements asked of him to become a Jr. Ranger. Here is taking the pledge.
