Don't know why but I'm suddenly into movies these few days..heh..maybe coz too bored at home..=_= Anyway, I've watched 3 movies recently. Wow, that's like the most number of movies I watched in a week!! lolx.. Okok, I shall give short reviews on them.
First up, this movie called Goal!!I nvr watch movies on soccer before, or any other sport, but wow, this was a great movie! There's lots of realism injected here with soccer stars like Raul, Zidane and Beckham appearing on screen, albeit for just a few seconds! The directors are really creative in a way that they were able to make the actors played their game in a packed stadium that looked so real. Their injection into real 2004/2005 season games made the scenes almost perfect!
Anyway, this story is about a guy, Santiago Munez, who rised from a struggling-to-make-ends-meet person to a first team player at Newcastle United! He was talent spotted by a scout one day, and from that day onwards, his life began to change. Things, however, do not go so smooth-sailing for Munez. He has to go many trials and tribulations and experience the lifestyle of an everyday footballer.
This is a good movie even for those who know nuts about soccer as the highlight of this movie is not about the technicalities of soccer but the strong human drama that is weaved into the story. I'll give it 3.5 out of 5 stars!! Go watch it!
P.S.: Hmm, I wonder when will the ManU scout come to Sg to grab me.. hahaa..
Next up, is the horror movie, The Skeleton Key!
When I first saw the title of the movie, I thought it was about a key that looks like a skeleton or a key that would lead you to one. But boy, I was wrong. The so called skeleton key was actually a master key that can open all(almost) the doors in the particular house.
This movie is about Caroline, a nurse, who one day decides that being in a hospital isn't her cup of tea. She then decided for hospice care instead and chance upon this elderly couple, Ben(who suffered from a stroke) and Violet Devereaux who lived in a rather creepy house. This is where most parts of the movie takes place. In a 30-room house, housing a creepy couple, wind howling, doors slamming and always raining. Typical characteristics of a horror movie.
It didn't take long before Caroline chanced upon the hoodoo-magic that's living in the house. And after that, the plot seems to be of horror norm. But at the end, there's a slight twist though. Never thought that it would end that way. Oh well, though this movie gave you some periodic startles and shocks, I would say it isn't really a true horror film. More of a thriller actually. Anyway, this is a decent film, though not really strong. You can catch it if you're extremely bored at home. I'll give it 3 out of 5 stars.
And lastly, The 40-Year Old Virgin. Pls take note that this review contain some spoilers. I advise you not to read if you planned to watch it(which I strongly recommend!!). It's M-18 btw. =PpP

Out of the three movies, this is the one which I truly enjoyed! Nope, not for the sex scenes or skimpy clad extras in the show. But for the hilarious nature of this movie! (Thanks MeiFeng for recommending this! hehe)
Well, Andy works in an electrical store. He's forty but he seemed not being able to grow up with his collection of toys, comic books and video games. And of course, most importantly, he's a virgin. To help him overcome his 'problem', his colleagues help to arrange him with girls in many occassions. There's this time when Andy met this gal in a pub and they were then off to the gal's house to do you-know-what. But before they got into anything, the girl threw up on Andy's face in the car! And it smelled of shellfish sandwich!! That scene was freaking funny man!! hahaaa.. Another funnny scene was when Andy went for his waxing session. Yeah, he went for it at the advice of his friends to remove his chest hairs. His reaction at the peeling part was totally hilarious!! LOL.. Oh yeah, another laughable part was when two of his friends played this 'how-I-know-you're-a-gay' thing.. hahaa.. so funny.. Anyway, if I were to list out all the funny parts, I doubt I can finish blogging coz there's just so many humourous parts in the movie!! It made me laugh every minute or so!! lolx..
Oh yeah, if you're interested in the ending, Andy married off this 'hot' grandma and of course, you'll know what they'll do after marriage =X. And yah, the ending song was greatly funny too!! hahaa... Although there seems to be an over-usage of the f-word here, for all the humour and the fact that it made me laugh throughout the show, I'll give this movie 4/5 stars!!
