adventures

I am lucky enough to be a part of the S.O. Organization (Significant others) here in Grenada. It's pretty much all the SO's of all the med and vet students. We are all in the same boat and it's nice to have each other. Occasionally, they plan some really fun things for us med school widows... I mean spouses to do together. This last one they planned was a catamaran ride to snorkel two different sites. If you didn't want to snorkel you could play on the water tramp, the water mattress, some crazy ball thing or just chill on the boat. Honestly, these ladies have made my experience here in Grenada that much better.

In the beginning of Sept a few of us went river tubing. So dang fun!

I'm so grateful for all the ladies I've met and friendships I've made since I've been here.

One year of Hank

I feel like the last year has been a blur. I'm in denial about my baby turning one. Wasn't I just coming home from the hospital with this brand new little baby in my arms? Well, I guess it's true.
Hank at one:
8 teeth
loves food
still doesn't sleep through the night
crawls and stands on his own but not walking
loves to watch his older brothers
is in the 5% for weight 75% for height
loves the water
falls asleep in the ocean
wears 9 to 12 month clothing
loves books
likes to yell at the top of his lungs
loves trees
likes to be outside
enjoys going on walks
loves music
yells at you if you aren't doing what he wants you to do
likes to eat sand

We love this little guy so much! Happy Birthday Hank!

Scuba steve

I never thought in a million years that I would get scuba certified. I always thought it seemed cool but never thought much about it because I have issues. Call me crazy but I like to take a big deep breathe of fresh air whenever I please. Well, I'm glad I sucked it up and tried because it was amazing. I did it with some friends so that made it easier.

Aaron got certified earlier this summer so he joined us for our last dive. I'm thinking we need to go on a diving date:)

Some of my favorites: watching the rain hit the water from 50 ft below, purple coral, giant lobsters, a huge school of fish following us around, some kind of crab that looks like a spider, realizing how freaking awesome ocean life is. I'm totally ready to swim with sharks now:)

everyday life

I want to remember life here in Grenada and not just the part that's beach days, pool days, endless adventure and relaxing. There's perks living here and there some down falls. Of course I really only write about the good stuff because lets be honest, who wants to read about endless laundry, being a med school widow, blah blah blah. Well, I'm going to want to look back years from now and remember not just the good times but the every day stuff too.

Today was the second day of school and the boys were home sick. I knew it was coming because Hank had it and I was hoping it would hit before school started but why would it be that easy. Anyways, as the day went on, the crappier I felt. We were all kinda miserable except Hank. Around 2 o'clock our house becomes a sauna for a couple hours. The sun hits just right and bakes our house. We don't use the ac because well, we can't afford such a luxury. The amount of money it cost to run would blow your mind. Basically in Vegas in the middle of the summer your electric bill would be around $250 give or take on how big your house is and that's running the ac all day. Well, here ours is that much for running our ac about 2 hrs a day and that is for one room. So yeah, we just do without.  Today, I said screw it! We all feel like poo so why the heck not! It was heavenly. I even cleaned. There's something about doing dishes and sweeping floors without sweat rolling down your back. I know this isn't going to happen very often but today it made me happy. As silly as this sounds, I felt grateful for all the little things and grateful I even had an ac unit to run. Not everyone here is as fortunate. It's the little things, right?
Love these boys. They are rad.

nana & papa

My parents came to visit back in July. I love my parents. They really are the best. We were all so excited for them to come out. I loved showing them around this little island I call home.

We played at Grande Anse Beach. My personal fav.

We played at Grooms Beach. Our favorite place to snorkel.

We spent a day at the pool. The kids favorite place on the island. You have the pool and beach all right there.

 Hiked Seven Sisters

Enjoyed the views

Snorkeled Sculpture Park and Flamingo Bay

And played A LOT!

We love you Nana & Papa!!!
