Traditional Korean Noodles

When we studied Korea, we found this yummy recipe to try! We loved it!

KOREAN TRADITIONAL NOODLE (Job Chai)

1 (12 oz) pkg Oriental Noodles or (13.5 oz) thin spaghetti noodles
1 onion, sliced
1 carrot, shredded
5 green onions, cut 1" long
1 c spinach, cut 1" size
1 c walnut gluten (see recipe on my facebook)or any veggie meat, sliced
6 T soy sauce, unfermented
2 cloves galic, minced
1 T nutritional yeast flakes
1/2 T onion powder
1 T toasted sesame seeds
2 T sesame oil
1 1/2 T turbinado sugar

Put noodles in a boiling water and boil for 10 minutes. Rinse with cold water and drain. Cut noodles in the edible length. Drop 1 T olive oil in a heated frying pan. Saute onion, carrot, green onions, spinach and walnut gluten until crispy and tender. In a large bowl, mix noodles, vegetable mixture and remaining ingredients. Mix well with hands. Serve cold or you can fry in a wok with adding 2T of sesame oil. Very delicious!

Trip to the Apple Farm

Back in late September, we decided to visit an apple farm. It was so much fun and such a nice break from regular routine. Here's what we did!

Oh, and really, we did get apples also. And some apple donuts. We just didn't take a picture of that part. :)

Garden Parade

They just crack me up!! I love their imaginations!!

Swimming

The big kids have been having swimming lessons, but little one is not to be left out! He LOVES the water and we've been able to get in and play around a few times while they are having their lesson.

My Favorite Apple Pie

The filling is made with a thickened apple juice concentrate over either Granny Smith or Cortland apples. I am amazed at how yummy that is!!! What really contributes to it being my favorite though is how easy the crust is. I'm not a "roll the pie crust out" type of girl so I really dig this crumble crust!!

Just before baking....

Buddies!

Chopsticks

We were studying China so we had to eat Chinese food. Chopsticks were a bit foreign though. But as you can tell, the kids found many uses for them outside of just eating noodles and rice!

This is the lesson on how to use them.

Success!

Definitely one way to do it!

Sluuuurrrp!

Paper Mache Earth

We had lots of fun doing this project! We had never done paper mache before.

We had food coloring to the leftover glue mixture and they painted pictures with it.

Monarch Butterfly

Our neighbor gave us a monarch butterfly cocoon and we enjoyed watching for about 10 days or so. What an neat experience it was! We watched and we watched just waiting for the moment it would set itself free. The day came and sadly, we missed the exact moment. Once it's ready, it sure does happen quickly. One moment we saw the black, almost transparent cocoon, the next moment it was out.
