Winter Solstice shawl

The Winter Solstice shawl is finally finished in plenty of time for the festivities:) Not that I'm going to any but there you go. It is extremely hard to photograph red, the same goes for mohair also and frankly photographing anything in this weather and light is nigh on impossible any.
But moaning apart I am very pleased with this shawl.
I did random bands of colour as and when I felt like changing. I did lacy parts with the same reasoning. I felt like a row of holes then I knit them.

Yarn is a mix of hand painted mohair, iridescent lurex thread and some Filatura di crosa rusty mohair.
Beads are deep blood red, orange with silvery band, iridescent red and clear crystal iridescent.
Unblocked because i think the weight of the beads will block it.

So what do you think? Does it remind you of Yuletide fires and warmth?

Undine shawl

edited to add more pictures

The undine shawl is finished and I am so pleased with it. I haven't blocked it because I don't think there is enough floor space to stretch it to its full potential. I think anyone doing so would add at least a foot each way on to it. As it is you can get an idea of the size of it.

I've added tiny seashells, a few bells and rainbow fluorite gemstones to the border. I wanted it to make a sound as you moved to reflect the sound of the sea.

The 2 bits of different pattern are for seaweed:)
You can't really see the border but it is there. The true colour has more turquoise and greens in it.
This shawl for me was all about water and the moon. The colours changing as the sea changes . Firstly when the sun shines or it is stormy but also as the depth changes you see different reflections.
Undine because I could imaging a sea goddess or mermaid making herself a shawl from the seaweed and other flotsam and jetsam she found as she swam through the deeps.
I am selling it for just the cost of the materials, it was an exercise in putting form to my imagination so wasn't made for me.
Was it for you?

Beaded shawls

Remember the shawls I showed you the other week? I've finally finished beading them both. What a slow job it was, adding each little bead and its stopper bead to each point on the border. Anyway they are done now so I thought you would like to see them
I haven't blocked them as they are very big especially the green goddess one. Who ever gets them can always block if they want them even longer.

pictured outdoors because it is actually sunny today:)
Close up of the edge, you can just see the beads
Then the giant green shawl.

What you don't see is how much is over my hands, another foot or two I'd guess.
The border is done in different greens I wanted to progress from thicker to thin mohair to reflect the way the trees go from bare to full of leaf. There are many different shades of green in the beads also.
Hope you like

It is always wisest to wind mohair outside;)

The above post title is because of this;-
There was much more fluff but as it floated around the garden I suspect the birds will use it for their nest building. This mohair was very fluffy and I didn't want to get fibres around the house or indeed to breathe them in. It was a beautiful day today and very sunny so the garden seemed a good idea. Mr Mog kindly helped to move the yarn on the swift as I wound the wool winder. The yarns tuck together well so it wasn't an easy task.

As you can see though we made it:) This is the yarn from yesterday's blog post and it is all ready to start a shawl with.
I do have to bead this one first.
Now finished with a fancy border and awaiting beads then blocking.

Here you can see the 2 beads I'm going to use, colour doesn't show properly as they are in bags but watch this space:)
