New Pictures

Carter is now 4 pounds 4 ounces. He is out of his isolette and in an open crib. He is starting to eat more of his feedings by bottle. I pray that he will continue to improve. I want him home soon!
This is the newest picture of Kaleb. He is now 5 pounds 1 ounce. He got his NG tube out tonight. He now has to eat all his feedings by bottle. The nurse told me that he could be coming home within the next couple of days. I sure will be happy if that is the case.

update

The boys have now been in the NICU for one week and two days. They are continuing to make progress each day. Kaleb was moved from his isolette to an open air crib. He only has to master eating and he will be able to come. Carter on the other hand is still in an isolette and he too has yet to master eating. Both will take a bottle, but tire easy so they end up getting the rest of their feeding via NG tube. They are definitely being blessed!

Sorry I did not take any pictures at my last two visits. I will tomorrow. We are truly seeing blessings in the lives of our boys. Both boys are progressing awesome. Both are almost up to full feedings for their age which is about 35ml for Kaleb and 30ml for Carter. To put it in perspective it is about 7 teaspoons for Kaleb and 6 teaspoons for Carter. Both are being taken off their IV nutrition and both do not have to have the photo lights for Jaundice any more. The problem they are going to have now is having enough energy to finish all of their feedings. If they can not tolerate taking it by bottle then they give it to them with an NG tube which is in their nose. This is normal for preemies.
Ashlyn is glad that I am home. She is a little concerned about me still not being able to pick her up. She asked me this morning if the doctor used a "carving knife" to get the babies out. She wants people to look at my incision when they come over and cries when I tell her no. She has picked up some interesting bad habits in my absence which will require extra patience to overcome. On the flip side--I sure love being home with her. Soon the boys will be home and things will definitely change around here.

New Pictures

I just wanted to share our latest blessings. Both boys were taken off oxygen today and are breathing on their own. They also started comfort feedings. Comfort feedings are about 1 tablespoon of breast milk from a bottle. I was able to give both of them their bottles today!! It was amazing that both of them seemed to be satiated with just one tablespoon. I also was able to hold both of them at the same time. I loved it. I will for sure be released tomorrow. It will be sad to leave them behind.

The boys were moved into their own isolets today!! That made it so Alan and I could hold them for a few minutes. Alan is holding Carter and I am holding Kaleb. I will be going home tomorrow. Great for me, not so great for the boys.

Baby names

The little guys are doing better today. Thankfully both had their breathing tubes removed and seem to being doing good with a nasal cannula. They also are not receiving any medication for their blood pressures. They are definitely making progress. We also came up with names. The baby formally known as Baby A is now Kaleb Woodland Gee and the baby formally known as Baby B is now Carter Alan Gee. We are truly feeling blessed every day. Kaleb is the first picture and Carter is the second. (Sorry the pictures make them look a little different.) The nurse told us tonight that they might get their central lines out tomorrow. If they do Alan and I might get to hold them. I can't wait!!!

Our Boys!!!

Our little guys were born today at 10:01 and 10:02. Baby A weighed 4 pounds 11 ounces and Baby B weighed 3 pounds 15 ounces. Neither have names, but will soon! Both are needing assistance with breathing, but they will try and wean them off today or tomorrow. The doctors are optimistic as are we.

Yeah another week!

I have met another milestone today. Today is week 33!! My ultrasound on Tuesday showed that both babies where growing appropriately, the fluid levels were good and that the placenta on baby b was functioning properly--unlike what they thought before. We are truly seeing the Lord's hands in this process. We are thankful for our friends and family and everything that is being done for our family.

Ashlyn at the hospital

These are just a few pictures of Ashlyn coming to see me at the hospital. She has so much fun. I wish I could say the same. Ashlyn was at my parents for a week and just returned home yesterday. It was great to see her cute smile again. I am now 32 weeks and 3 days. Yeah for me! If I am not having a lot of contractions they will let me have one wheelchair ride a day. Ashlyn thinks that she was big stuff getting to ride in the wheelchair with me. We took her to the gift shop and let her pick out a treat.
