Janelle Monae
This girl is amazing. She has a phenomenal voice, wicked dance moves, and to top it all off, a very dope look. She makes menswear look really, really good! Check out her video Many Moons. She reminds me of Andre 3000 from Outkast.

Blackbird Website
The Blackbird Website is now up! They finally have a proper website to showcase their goods but I believe they'll still keep their blog that originally updated Blackbird fans of the new arrivals at their Seattle boutique.
Below are some items from the store that I personally like:
Rachel Comey suede shoes
Billy Kirk slim leather belt
Rag & Bone grey tweed blazer
CDG Guerilla 1 perfume

Small goods to make you smile
Days of the week handkerchief set - $95
This set of colorful gingham handkerchiefs are embroidered with different titles of songs that mention one day of the week. For example: Wednesday Morning 3AM by Simon & Garfunkel, and (Easy) Like Sunday Morning by the Commodores. How brilliant is that? Honestly, the days of the week undies and socks were getting old.
Nice parking cards - $15
I probably won't find this on my car's windshield. I have to be honest and say that my parking skills are almost non-existent. But this set of cards (25 pieces) will let those skilled drivers know that you are in awe of their parking powers.
Check out Jack Spade for more stuff such as lobster key chains, a matchbook cover, luggage tags, and wallets.

A well edited wardrobe.
Having a well edited wardrobe with the perfect pieces that fit you like a dream is, well...a dream. I often imagine what it's like to have one clothes rack that can only accommodate 12 pieces. And with that said, these are the pieces that will be on my (imaginary) rack:
1-2. Two white oxford shirts (l/s)
3-4. Two navy and white striped shirts (l/s)
5-6. Two black pique polos
7. Black round neck tee
8. Black sweater vest
9. Navy hoodie
10. Black two button blazer
11-12. Two pairs of black jeans

Jack Spade Reversible Superhero/Civilian Coal Bag
How awesome is this bag from Jack Spade? The tote bag features illustrations of normal civilian things on one side such as pens, glasses, a metrocard, and an ipod on one side. Once you turn it inside out, there are illustrations of superhero paraphernalia such as grappling hooks, a utility belt, and a mask. The bag was created to benefit a non-profit organization called 826NYC that supports creative writing for students aged 6-18. Aside from that, it also supports the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co. Perhaps this particular bag tugs at my heartstrings because I'm a Literature major.
If you're living in New York and want to volunteer at 826NYC, you can sign up online.
Interns will be required to work at least 15 hours per week. While most of the time will be spent on specialized projects, everyone will be expected to pitch in wherever needed: from covering a store shift, to taking out the trash, weeding the garden, and of course, working with our students.
Sounds like a lot of fun! If I was in New York I'd definitely volunteer.

Magical Maestro
Are you having the weekday blues? Watch this old cartoon clip for a chuckle. Never fails to make me laugh. It's too bad they don't make cartoons like this anymore.

Eat with joy in my heart.
The Domestic Goddess
Watching her show at 12 midnight won't be good for your waistline but the deliciousness just draws you in. Nigella Lawson creates the most amazingly delicious things with so much ease and you ask yourself if it's real and you swear it is because you can almost taste it in your mouth. The sheer simplicity of her recipes is what I love the most about her but I also take into consideration the way she describes the ingredients that goes into what she's cooking. All of it is delicious, mouth watering poetry.
See for yourself:
Quick Quesadillas
Rapid Ragu
Linguine with mushrooms, lemon, garlic, and thyme.
