Summer Camp 2011 - 17 to 19 June

Camp theme : The fruit of the spirit
Camp verse: Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Against such things there is no law.

Summer camp 2011 was somewhat different again this year.

Indeed Our Good Lord has been kind to us by blessing us with the familiar comforts of salvation army, great weather while we were out in the sun at bukit timah and a great time of fellowship especially with new friendships made with the VCFers (Varsity Christian Fellowship)

Learning about the Fruit of the spirit , we understood that "the Fruit" was not a sum of 9 fruits but a collective sum of 9 qualities in 1 fruit and that we are to grow these 9 qualities as we mature as people of God.

As we do that we lay our firm foundations (like the substructure of a building) not on things of this world but on our Almighty God.

And even as we have so many distractions in our daily lives, we seek to let God take charge of our lives, take the focus away from our troubles, worries and magnify God"s presence in our lives to grow the Fruit Of the Spirit.

We want to thank everyone who was a part of this year"s summer camp. and even though it clashed with the Cor camp we trust that all will come back for another year of Summer camp 2012! ( perhaps overseas?)

Special mention to:

Joyce and Chong Ding for the efforts and time in planning games and activities for the very first time!!! (preparing those cards for games, making a few trips all the way to bukit nature reserve and even checking out the different routes - must have been a good workout for them! )

Anthony for looking after almost everything from logistics to e food very hardworkingly just like a typically laborious ant.

VCFers for learning sign language so quickly just to communicate with us , teaching us new games, helping us with the games at bkt timah, fellowshipping with us and how can we forget, even going out to buy us yummy Supper!

MHI Summer Camp 2010

This year's SUMMER CAMP 2010 was a very exciting, enriching, Spirit led experience for many and we want to thank God for that.
Indeed we learned much more about

FAITH + HOPE + LOVE

and understood more about the camp theme verse

"1 John 4:15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the son of God, God lives in him and he in God"

Faith, Hope and Love guides us in our daily walk with people and with God. We also learn how to love God and love people because GOD IS LOVE.

We want to thank many people for being in our camp this year..
1. All the Happy Enthusiatic Campers
2. The Ever so Faithful Youth helpers (youth) Wanqi, Wanzheng, Chong Ding, Yanyu, Joe Eng, Xuehui, Hui Ling, Zhou Meng, Adrian

How Great is our God - Louie Giglio

1st TIDBIT
If we were to assume the earth was a golfball:
1. If a schoolbus represents the sun, how many golfballs would fit into the bus?
2. If 4 empire state buildings stacked one on top of another represents Mu Cephei,a star much bigger than the sun, how many golf balls would fit into the 4 empire state buildings?
3. If 2 golden gate bridges represents Betelgeuse, a star even bigger than Mu Cephi, how many golf balls would fit into the 2 golden gate bridges side by side?
4. If Mount Everest represents Canis Majoris, the star even much more gigantic than Mu Cephi, how many golf balls do u think will fit into Mount Everest?!
As you would have guessed, many millions, even billions to trillion golf balls would be needed to fill all the above objects which represent 4 different stars, and this shows how small the earth is compared to the universe. Our God is even bigger than all these.
(ponder upon: Wanna guess how many golf balls/earths would make up God? :P I don't even think I can imagine it...)
This is how great God is, to have created all of universe as well as us on earth.

Verse : Psalm 30

MIND-BOGGLING COOKIE :

The laminin is a protein molecule that holds our body together. Can you believe it,
the laminin is a shape of a cross! The shape of the cross of Jesus.
And there is many millions of microscopic crosses holding you together RIGHT NOW.
No matter how big or how small something is, everything means a lot to God.
Know that God loves you and every single part of you for who you are, and you mean something to God.

He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
Colossians 1:17

SCIENTIFIC FACT :
If scientists were to take out your DNA and stretch it, it would be 6m long. And in this 6m long DNA is a string of words written in the language of God by God's hand that has every single detail about you, and it would take a million years for a human to read everything that God has written about who you are in that DNA. YOU are that special, to be created by God's hand alone,
to be UNIQUELY who you are(No DNA is the same),
And God has written millions of wonderful things about you that make up the perfect person He created us to be.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:28-31
