#2

So, occasionally my hubby and I get a night out! I have a new babysitter that I met at our new church and she is just the sweetest thing ever! Trace does great with sitters unless....he has to go #2! Then he needs his momma in a really bad way. :) This past Monday night, it happened! He just sat on the pot asking the sitter to call me so I could come home real quick and wipe his hiney. Ty, my 7 year old decided it was time he learn! So, he stood at the door giving him instructions...
1. Tear off some toilet paper and wrap it around your hand.
2. Wipe your crack.
3. Look at the paper and see if your hiney is clean.
4. Make sure if you wipe alot of times, you flush, and then you can keep wiping till your bottom is clean. :)
The next morning, the first thing out of Trace's mouth was..."I LEARNED HOW TO WIPE MY BOTTOM!"
Both of them were so very proud. Ty for teaching and Trace for learning something new and really important!

Releasing My Child

I just wanted to share again, a little bit of what I have been reading in regards to praying for our children. This chapter was called, "Releasing My Child into God's Hands". You know sometimes we can be so overly concerned about everything in our kids lives. For example, being scared that someone might drop them when they are infants, that they may drown in the bathtub, that they might be bitten by a dog, or injured in a car accident. These are valid things to worry about but at some point we have to have more trust in God to take care of our kids when we simply can't. Our kids are a gift from Him and He cares about them way more than we do. (That statement blows me away because I know how much I love my kids.)

We don't want to limit what God can do in our children by clutching them to ourselves and trying to parent them alone. If we aren't sure that God is in control of our lives, then we can often parent out of fear.

We can't be everywhere. But God can. We can't see everything. But God can. We can't know everything. But God can. No matter how old our kids are, releasing them into God's hands is a sign of our faith and trust in Him. Praying for our children begins there.

Vegas and my Valentine!

This past week, my husband and I went to Vegas. It was for meetings really but they let the wives tag along occasionally. Some people may not know that we got married there almost 14 years ago. YEP! We hadn't been back either, till last week. Of course the "strip" looks so different from when we were there but we made sure we took a walk down to Treasure Island to reminisce about our wedding day. We even walked up to the wedding chapel on the 2nd floor and had a lady take our picture. It was really sweet. We were so young, I was 20 and Dean was 21. Sometimes I can't believe we did that! No one was there, just the 2 of us...young and in love. ;)
This is it! Ladies and Gentlemen...we were married in this very spot! It was really cool to stand there with him again. It just reminds me so much how far we have come. And that we wouldn't be here, maybe not even married, if it wasn't for God. Thankfully shortly after we were married, we decided to live for Jesus! 100%. He has been the glue in our marriage. Our hearts are woven together through Him. We are so grateful that He saved us!

( I am really bummed that I didn't bring my "good" camera on this trip. I got another little one for Valentine's Day that I picked out but it is taking super fuzzy pics.) :(
Happy Valentine's Day, Dean!
You will forever be my Valentine!!!
I love you, Babe.

Lil' Nuggets

Our Life Group is going through the book, "Power of a Praying Parent". I am just in the beginning but it is so good. I highly recommend it. As I read through and find good "nuggets" I will post them and hopefully they will be an encouragement to you as a parent!

"At every stage of their lives our children need and will greatly benefit from our prayers. They key is not trying to do it all by ourselves and all at once, but rather turning to the expert parent of all time-our Father God-for help. Then, taking one step at a time, we must cover every detail of our child's life in prayer. There is great power in doing that, far beyond what most people imagine."

"...without God we are destined to repeat the mistakes of our past and mimic what we observed."

Hot Cocoa

As we sat around in pallet's Thursday night waiting for the snow...
we had a good time sippin' hot cocoa and watching a movie together.
Though the snow never showed up,
we did get some serious ice!
No school, or work for dad on Friday, means Family Day in our home!
Yee Haw!
Makin' Memories!
