Word for the year......

I came a cross Sussanah Conways  blog  SusannahConway.com via Kim Klassens workshop and took a workshop with Jane La Fazio janelafazio.com/ a couple of years ago.........

Both of these lovely teachers are encouraging their blog followers to choose a work for the year....a word to encourage, enrich and support what ever you feel that the year might hold for you.

I thought about doing this last year, but somehow didn't get around to it...but if you join Susannahs blog she sends five e mails, one a day, which guide through the process, a mini workshop, which I've enjoyed doing over the holidays.

My word is CREATIVE ........it was confirmed yesterday morning when I started the Guardian crossword and there it was!

Hope that you find your word for 2015......enjoy the process and are supported by it through 2015.

Three things.......

Another 'three things' challenge from Kim at 'Be Still 52'

I have been watching this rose outside my kitchen window, for weeks, wondering if it would make it until Christmas.

Here it is, it has been through frost, storm, wind and one day of snow in the far north of England.

It came inside this dark afternoon, to be photographed with a soft pink cashmere scarf that I have been wearing and one of my Handpainted, Pure Italian Wool wraps.....Santa hasn't collected this one....and I can't think why...it's my favorite!

I had an idea about softness, crystal and the rose........

Edited on my i pad with a 'fade' filter.

A very happy and peaceful Christmas to you all......

Edited on the i pad with a chrome filter.

Now I'm going to have my breakfast!

Have a lovely Sunday........:-)

Gather and drop.......

Week 21 of Kim Klassens 'Be Still' workshop......

'Gather and Drop'......

I had this piece of jewellry on my studio table, the leaves on the window sill.

The hand and leaf reminded me of my business card, which has an image of one of my monoprints on it.....the hand and leaf.....it is called 'Veriditas'.

I put the two together and here are my 'Gather and Drop' pieces.

Is it autumn or fall?

I was inspired by Americas love of celebrating 'fall' by decorating their front doors, steps and verandas......gorgeous!

I came home to a friend who has a shop, inspired by my photos of Cape Cod homes, going ape about her autumn window......so while she's looking for a barrow to pile pumpkins in, I've made her some enormous autumn leaves ........and one for my front door ........what do you think?

I swirled watercolour onto cartridge paper and then water sprayed and paper towel dabbing to get some good crunchy texture. Then cut out the big shapes, used a sharpie to draw in veins, cut into the leaves and rolled them to get a leafy shape.......then took them into the garden to photograph and my cat played with them...:-)

Organic.....

This weeks prompt from Kim Klassen is 'organic.'

I'm on holiday from the UK in Cape Cod, so took a walk along Old Silver Beach, where we are staying this week and took some shots.

Luckily I had this blue linen scarf with me.......I like the way that the blue holds the little heart shaped stones and the shells and reflects the sky here at Falmouth ........
