4th of July!

We had a pretty great 4th of July this year. It was the first year ever that I didn't spend the holiday in Kaysville surrounded by family and neighbors but we managed to keep busy and make it an awesome day anyway. We started out in the morning by driving up to the home of the family that I nanny for. They were nice enough to invite us to a chilren's bicycle parade their neighborhood does every year. The best part was that they have the wind section of the Nashville orchestra come set up in someone's front yard along the parade route. It felt nice and festive to hear all the patriotic songs.

After the parade we went with the family to a lunch time BBQ. I feel it is a 4th of July necessity to have at least two barbecue's during the course of the day so we were lucky to be invited. After a short break at home in the afternoon we went to another barbecue with some friends from our ward. It was so much fun to socialize and enjoy some good old American burgers. That night Brig and I drove into the city to watch the downtown fireworks. We were going to park in a parking garage that we usually use when we're in that area, but it was full. As we drove around looking for a place to park we got stopped in traffic in the right hand lane going over the Jefferson Bridge. After a minute we realized the traffic wasn't going to move, people were parking on the bridge to watch the fireworks. So that's how we accidently wandered onto the best parking spot in town. There's a pedestrian bridge that runs adjacent to the Jefferson Bridge and they light the fireworks off right next to it.

The pedestrian bridge packed with people waiting for the show to start.
We had a great view and the show was awesome! Even Brigham, who is a Logan fireworks loyalist, was impressed. I had a sweet video to post of the last few seconds of the show but it won't load for some reason. If you see Brig, make him pull out his phone and show it to you.:) I love this holiday. Happy 4th of July!
