Our Family

Our Family
This is a blog about our family. My journal of our adventures. We're just trying to do our best raising 2 crazy kids (or maybe we're the crazy ones). Eight years of marriage under our belts, and still lots of new adventures and surprises on this road called life.

In loving memory of my mom- Kathleen Nelson Higgins May 11, 1954-December 29, 2008. She is my warrior and I wear pink in honor of her.

Donut Falls and 'JoAnn Therapy'

I can't believe the month of August is 1/2 over already! This summer has cruised by faster than usual it seems. Adam and I finally made it on the Donut Falls hike Saturday afternoon, after all the storms blew through. It felt great to get into the mountains and there weren't many people at all, which was nice. Grace did the best on a hike she's done since being too old for the backpack. It was fun and nice to be together as a family.
Last week my Aunt JoAnn (my mom's sister and look-a-like), cousin Quinn, and her two kids- Mitch and Libby came to visit us. It was really fun to hang out together. It's nice to know some things stay the same even without my mom around. We went to the zoo, spent the night in Coalville, and then went on a much needed shopping trip to the outlets in Park City. JoAnn knows how to party- shopping and spoiling grandkids just like my mom :).

We couldn't get all the kids to look in the same direction at the same time for the life of us.

JoAnn and Chloe. Mine and Jessica's kids are all a little grandma starved so they hung all over JoAnn. Grace and Chloe were JoAnn's little lap cats. Luckily she didn't mind and JoAnn spoiled our kids rotten right along with her own grandkids.

Grace said to me after church today, "Grandma Higgins was a lovely grandma and she used to buy me princess stuff, now JoAnn does." I guess that says it all. Thanks for taking care of us JoAnn!

Grace and Libby played together pretty well this time . . .

. . .apparently Grace is using her older age to have the upper hand in how they play. Yes, that is Libby pushing Grace around the yard and that was Grace's idea of sharing.

Meanwhile, Max was trying to figure out Grandpa's lawnmower.

When we got home from Park City, Adam's sister Michelle stayed the night with us as she was on her way to moving to Texas. Michelle has 8 1/2 month old twin girls named Jane and Eliza. The last few weeks Grace has also had twin babies named Jane and Eliza, so we had to get a picture of both sets of twins.

I'm grateful we live close enough to family to see everyone. It's fun for the kids to play with cousins and for us to hang out too. Thanks Quinn for the listening ear too! It has been a summer full of family.
