Genting-KL

Just back from a short trip to Genting-KL with Ben, tuck, liang. a short get away, to a place cooler than sin. Didn't really do much there, just did some shopping ard, look look see see. simply just chill out. There were moments of fun and joy and the never ending comments made by liang is always being shoot by us. A public enemy. lolx..

The place was horribly packed on sunday, the day that we reached there. It was like a refugee camp, with ppl sitting down everywhere, block the path. Very poorly organised.

Last time there was a few yrs back, think i was 18 then, 4 yrs back.. already there are quite a lot of differences. still, can recognise most of it. prices have gone up, and it's getting very ex for a place in malaysia.

wanted to shop for some clothes and shoes, but couldn't find any that really catches my eye. sad.. all so so only.

Some of the photos.. rest in facebook..

The long lost A&W was found. A bit creepy, cos ben just said, long time nvr see A&W le.. and it appeared right in front of us..

The devil...

new image?

Haha.. going retro..

Uncle liang

The expensiv cock screw that we searched so hard for it.. In the end, it came with a magnet.. RM13.90 for that ..

Cheers to our brotherhood and many happy returns..

Belated Merry Xmas to all...

The edict is given.. and I'm to train my abs. Time frame given is 1yr. Well, sort of a new year resolution too I guess.. HA.. To achieve it is one thing, to maintain that is another. Hmm.. Shall see what I can do about it.

Anyway. I've been watching movie for the past 2 days. Watched YES MAN with my sis on christmas eve, and Twilight on Christmas day with dear..

YES MAN, is a rather hilarious show, which teaches us that every yes may bring on an opportunity. If you keep on saying no, you won't know what you've been missing. However, to achieve best results, it's to exercise some common sense and think what is the right thing to do at times, some things can still say no.

Twilight, a teenage vampire show, set in a outskirt of a ulu countryside. It's very teenage fiction story book like, and it reminds me a bit of those days when i was reading such story books. A teenage romance show between a Vampire and a mortal, it's kinda mysterious and fairy tale like. But then again, the bad guys die a bit too fast le. make it more exciting by prolonging it a bit, reduce the superiority of the good guys =D my dear LOVE this show so much..

Played soccer at punggol with the SK gang in the morning, the weather is just damn hot. Drained.. Got no shoe to play in le. Had to dig out my new pair of NB shoe, which was never meant to be worn. ( was supposed to be placed in my field pack for standby only ). Anyway, took it out of emergency and play with it. I guess this will be my pair of make shift futsal shoe le. It's very painful for the toes though. awkward position whenever i kick the ball..

Went to Sofra, A Turkish restaurant at Shaw Tower. Famous for it's Kebabs and Grilled food. Tried the Jumbo set with dear, and Kk, HC, edwin, all tried different dishes. Prices for it range from $13.90 to $35.90 for a jumbo set for two. If you do like Grilled food kebabs, this is a good place to try out, plus the ambience of it, its nice for ppl to hang ard.

Actually, the setting of it was very similar to what we have in India One year ago, at the Restaurant in Bangalore, and it's just nice 1yr Anniversary for the formation of the COT. Woohoo.. To think I've already known the COT group for 1yr le.. And it's being one yr since I went to India.. What a memorable experience it was.. =)

The Jumbo Kebab set.. $35.90

Grilled Dory with Cheese and beautiful Tomato cravings.

Junior Kebab set, $17.90..

Though our COT this time rd was not full family. But it was still an enjoyable dining out.. And I actually purposely wore the shirt that I bought in bangalore exactly 1yr ago. This long sleeve shirt that I bought while shopping tgt with COT.. =D haha... Thanks chaps.. Really been nice knowing all of you..

Blood boil

To be able to make me fume and scold during tuition shows how much the kid has put me through. Not understanding the thing, but still pretending that she knows, and trying to copy from the other kid, that's utterly too much. If I don't scold, that's not me. If don't understand, tell me, so that I can explain slowly again. If don't tell me, how am I suppose to know what you don't know? Keep whining and say I hate it, I don't know how is not going to solve the issue. Tearing will only make the books wet, but no info will go into your already empty head. Put more effort into listening and memorising and perhaps that would make you able to understand a bit more.

Just came back from 2 days worth of 108bds. Quite a no. to play, and that means high level of concentration and brain juice. Got squeezed really dry for the first day, especially so when my partner gave me difficult contracts to play. And seriously, 2 hot-boiled ppl shouldn't be partner. As I've previously experienced before. This is repeat telecast liao. NO proper partnership agreement, and understanding can result in horrible situation. The issue is, the bidding is unorthodox. Which he came up with, and only he can understand. How to play properly? It's either we take more time to accept and use his OWN conventions, if not, play the standard, and u can play with almost everyone.

Seeded 5th from the start, and we ended 6th. Just slightly off from 5th place, who was lucky to pull it off. The top 4 were in their own league, a class of their own. Can't catch up. ended off the last day well, scoring 67 / 75 VP. A good score to round it up. But well, it can't make up on the lost ground since yest le... At least I know I did my best, and I didn't make much mistakes. perhaps it's about time for me to move on and find outside clubs to further improve myself. I don't know if it's the right time to do so now...

Anyway, met up with 03S12 just now at Shokudo. Chose that place, cos of the locality, and the price variation, not too ex. if hungry, can buy more. The no. of ppl that turned up in the end was 11. Not bad. 2 ppl suddenly last min back out due to some reasons. Those that were present, Jermanyne, Mindy, Anu, May2, Jia Cai, Allen, Fatt, Cheng xun, Kristy, Jia yu. Amazed that Jia yu and kristy came. They like how long never appear le. lolz.. well done mindy for pulling them along. It's good to see all of them again, and seriously, it's nice catching up with them, and the conversations were very interesting, with diverse fields such as law, Medicine, Actuarial Science, Econs, life sciences, Pharmacy, Bio Eng, Biz. Sharing all the different views and stories. It's being some time since so many ppl turn up all at once for a 03S12 gathering le.. =) nice nice..

Shall see when it would be for the next gathering..

Went for tuition in the morning, and i think I may have an additional student incoming le. One of the girl that I'm currently teaching in a grp, is interested in extending the tuition to next yr. Really don't know if I should accept it. It's at Sengkang, and it's sec 1, definitely, I won't need to spend much effort, cos I already know their syllabus. But now I've accepted the clementi one, it's not nice to push it away, after following her for 2yrs,

Played pool with Tuck at our usual place. Concentration level is lower than before, can't fully concentrate for 3hrs. Ha.. but still, enjoyed the game with him. relaxing n just out having fun.

Thereafter, met Tuck, Ben, Ping and dear for Chong qin Steamboat. Nett price of $18, with the variety and quality of the things available, I think it's quite decent. The ingredients are fresh, and the soup was good.

After the steamboat, we went to TCC to chill out and chat for a while at Parco. That's actually my first time at TCC u know.. lolx.. always walk past, but never went in before. Drank the Mocha Oreo Frap. Thick and nice, in fact, i think it's better than starbucks or coffeebean, which are both a bit too milky for me.

Only 3 of us.. still got missing ppl lor.. Des and Lianghe.. MIA due to other committments.

Times are bad.. everyone is experiencing that too. Not much money to spare, trying to scrim and save on every little bit that you can. It's bad for you, so is it for others. try to take away what others should have, it'll only make things worst, cos it's a vicious cycle. As the saying goes, money makes the world goes round, literally.. Without expenditure, the economy won't recover. if it won't recover, you will not get any better..

So you want the economy to return to the better state? start giving me a bit more, raise my pay, and it'll eventually come back to you in a bigger denomination.

Worth it isn't it..

A busy weekend, filled with events and excitement, especially highlighted by the Highs-lows of the Golden Harvest Competition ( Bridge ).

Shall begin with Fri..

Fri night, went to my Cousin's condo with dear, for a family gathering. She enjoys cooking, and spends a lot of effort into it wor.. To think she prepared food for 20 of us, adults and kids, It's not easy chore. And it's not simple food like bee hoon, curry, etc.. It was a Christmas party, So there was Home-baked turkey, sausages, drinks, and even home-baked log cake. OMG... She baked the cake from scratch, starting from swiss roll, then add the cream, then do the decor.. many many X hours. It was delicious.. =D

The big Turkey.. nicely baked. Meat was very tender too..

On sat,

Taught tuition in the morning, before meeting dear for lunch at Cityhall. Had a craving for Roast duck, so went to asian kitchen to makan. The Roasted duck was marinated well, with crispy skin.. yum yum..

Thereafter, played bridge whole day till 11pm. Didn't really do well for the day, missing 2 slams. hanging ard mid table by the end of 5 rds. Our handicap is actually quite low.. 19 out of a possible 32. With many teams getting ard 24... They rate us a bit too high liao lar..

Start of Sunday, Day 2 of comp..
9.45am, start... after 2 more rds, we didn't qualify for the finals, so we entered the Round robin. After 3 rds in round robin, we managed to get 25, 16,25 for the 3 games, making 66/75 for the final part. It all ended well, and we managed to get top for the consols. not bad lar.. At least got back something, overall standing 5th out of 14. The other team of NUS, they managed to get 1st overall, winning everyone in their way.. Well.. that team had 3 players who are in national youth.. so erm.. ya.. no need to say much.. lolz.. well done team.. It's been sometime since NUS managed to win something in the outside tournament.. ( not counting against NTU ).

My team.. The guy in red is the Tournament director.. and the lady, is the bridge director.. the rest are my team members..

Anyway, This is one of the photos that was taken during my SCSM last week. The bright orange shirt, makes it so obvious lor. hahah... Holding hte mini NUS flag.. so funny..

Haven't been blogging for the past few days, so now got quite a bit to update.

On monday, went to dear's house. and we made Tiramisu, and Chocolate cake, both added with Baileys. lolx.. It came out rather nice wor.. had quite a bit of fun mixing and preparing the ingredients. Not that tough to prep. Just that it's rather long hours.

*forgot to take photo of our tiramisu.. it's in the stomach already..

On wed morning, started teaching tuition to a grp of 2. A little different from individual teaching, and a bit harder, cos their learning pace a bit different. So it's a little unfair to the one that learns faster actually. Shall see how I can improve on that...

At night, Met up with COT to go pitstop.. So long never meet this group liao lor. And not all were present sadly, due to some other committments. Nevertheless, we had a lot of fun playing some brainless games. Laughing all the way, and making funny noises. The animal sound game, ( Woof-Woof, Moo-Moo , Hiss, Quack, etc) and many more. Quite nice to just let ourselves out.

This is a nice grp of friends, and I really hope that we'll keep going. Don't keep fragmenting till nothing left..

On thurs afternoon, met fang for lunch, and we went to "Sun with Moon" at Wheel-lock place. The ambience was nice, and the service was quite fast. The setting was good for chatting and chilling ard. Not those too bright or too dark restaurants. All in all, Enjoyed my lunch there, with a set lunch with delicious salmon sashimi.

The salmon slices, uber thick and juicy. one of the better salmon I've eaten so far.. the price justifies it. 5 slices for $18.90.

Our set lunch. Hotate Set with udon soup and fried karage. $18.90

Chicken set done in 3 ways, Fried, Grilled, and teppanyaki style, with Kani salad and miso soup. $17.90

42.195km

Just finished my 3rd full marathon. 42.195km. It was a tiring run, especially so when insufficient training and preparation was done. hampered by the injury, totally didn't run for 3weeks, before i did some light conditioning of 5km on wed. Wanted to start off with the 4hr 30min pacer, but started the race 10mins late. So had to play some catch up. When I begun, I could only see the 6hr pacer. Got hell lots to catch up. Furthermore, cannot chiong too much, if not sure cui one.

Chased for nearly 11km, only managed to catch up with 4hr 45min pacer, and I stuck with them for a period of time, then cannot liao.. Hei gu.. Too fast. The initial game plan was to follow 4h 30min pacer, for first 21km, then drop back to 5hr for the next 21km. reached the 21km mark at 2hr 16mins. Quite a good time, and it's on course for 4hr 30min. But of cos, energy will be depleted, and sure to slow down de. So Changed strat, and did walk and jog. Interchanging every now and then. Knowing my body was really drained, I had to conserve some energy.

ard 23km, the 5hr 30min pacer came by. And of cos I'm stunned. How come so fast de. So decided to follow them, and hope to finish before 5hr 30. Upon checking further, realise that they are 15mins ahead of schedule, cos they followed the gun time, and I started 10mins later. So I'm still 25mins earlier. phew. Followed the 3 nice pacer for 10km, till 33km, before I call it quit. Cramps are coming in, and I'm dehydrated. I consistently reminded myself to drink more water along the way, and I drank every 3km. So there wasn't much cramps till the later stage. normally by 26-27, it'll come liao.

For the last 9km, I slowed down a lot, and energy has run out. no energy to push further. met a few friends along the way, and chatted with random ppl, mainly those who wore Team NUS, and VJ ppl. One of the fren still tell me " mind over body ". yes i know it's all abt endurance. But to run at that pt of time, the cramps may get so bad that I can't even walk. And I aim to finish it by hook or by crook. So cannot risk by pushing myself too much.

Well well. It was torturing, but the weather was quite kind to us. Only towards 10am, did the sun really come and "pengkang" us. Anyway, completed it. Not exactly very happy with the timing, but still within my buffer of 5hr 30mins. Finished it in 5hr 24min.

by the last 200km, there were NUS ppl giving out little flags, Took one of it and ran down the stretch. It was the moment of joy that you see the finishing pt, and ppl are cheering for u. Supporters really makes a difference, hypes up the morale of the runner after such long hours.

Dear, ran the 10km race, and did a PB also. not bad wor.. good job. =D Really nice to have someone waiting for u at the end of the race, and I really appreciate you waiting for me in the hot sun for an hour plus.. Thanks dear.. =)

This may well be my last full marathon le. It's taking a toll on my body. perhaps I shall stop at 21km. Next up.. Sundown marathon next may. =X

This morning after I finished teaching tuition at SK, took 27 back to tamp to change train.. And along the way at Tampines polyclinic, the bus met with an accident, E-BRAKE suddenly. and a lot of passengers got flunk forward. including me. I was holding on tightly to the handle, but 4 passengers weight landed on me, and I got thrown forward by the heavy load. luckily, the bus was quite packed.. so I had some natural human cushion to stop me from flying that far. One lady wasn't as lucky, she fell and hit the handle, as a result, suffered from shocked for a moment and injured her knee, ( it hit the handle )

okay, now to how the accident happened. I didn't witnessed it with my own eyes, only heard from those that saw it, so I can't be a witness and testify it..

The bus was abt to do a right turn, and a MPV driven by a lady, was in front of it. trying to do a U-turn at a junction where no U-turn is allowed. Then there was a guy who ran across the road, cos it's red for the other side, causing the MPV to E-brake, resulting in the Bus following suit, Which some how or rather stopped just in time, only smashing the rear wind screen of the MPV into pieces. ( i think it got hit by the wipper of the Bus ) if hit by the bus, the car sure gone case. it's like throwing an egg on a rock. The whole road was filled with broken glasses, and I alighted the bus shortly after when making sure there wasn't any serious injury to anybody, or any contribution that I can make.

In this type of situation, whose fault is it? The reckless-ness of the driver who flauted the laws of the road, making an illegal U-turn ? or is it the fault of the guy that ran across? Is pedestrian always not at fault? I think it's a combination of both ba.. Sadly, the guy ran away and can't be found.

on another note, just attended a fren's grandma's wake. This is the 4th wake I've attended this yr. Perhaps its cos we are all growing old, and the older generation that brought us to this world has reached the age, where illness starts to plague everyone. take care bro..

well... life goes on..

I can't believe that i waited for 3hrs to collect SCSM race kit.. a bit wth.. 1.5hrs more i can run the marathon liao can. Wa laoz... last yr, i took like 5mins to take and go.. what a vast difference. ^&%$^& pissed off can.

Just a few more days to go.. Must rest well le.

Resume tuition again.. This dec will be another hectic month of 6 sessions a week.. Got a lobang to teach for this dec only. Machiam holiday work.. still sufficient to cover my 1-mth hols. Work work..

It's Official. It's the end of another sem. So fast.. I've finished 3 sems. Just amazing how time just fly by. This sem wasn't exactly very good, with much hic-cup along the way. But it has all come to an end. Just got one fear in my head now. Which I really do hope won't happen..

Nvm.. Shall just do what holidays are supposed to be. Work and relax. Hmm.. haven't met up with so many frens le. Perhaps its time to meet up with some of them. for some, it's being 1-2 yrs le ba. Can't even remb clearly. Haven't been going out much since Uni..

5 more days to SCSM. My leg seems a bit better le. Let's just hope that everything will go smoothly, and I can complete it on 2 legs running. no more aiming 4hr 30mins. now, it's just completion that would do.. perhaps 5hrs as a rough target for myself.. =)

well well.. must be wondering what's that.. It's my ST2238 mod. CA2 result. The prof uploaded the result and show it to us in such a way, such that for every mark we get, we'll get 1 Garfield. Yes. He's a garfield fan, just like me, but I won't do such a thing to ask my students to keep looking at a page full of garfield.. lolx.. btw, his lecture slides are full of garfield as well.

This was the CA, which I was so afraid that I made a 5mark mistake. Thankfully, it was right.. if not gg le.. The result is so SUPER skewed that 1 mark makes a difference. imagine 5... Finals will decide all.

3 paper down le. Last 2 to go.. Need to push all the way, cos one is really bad. Must buck up.

Anyway, just now was at VJ at 11pm.. When MS and me were about to leave, sitting in his car, we noticed something amiss. How come the guard house appears dark... upon driving nearer, IT IS REALLY LOCKED. The GATE IS LOCKED. WTF!!!! No choice, but to climb out, and leave the car there. Can only retrieve it when we go there tomorrow morning. Apparently, AHS, had a sch performance at hte performance theatre, so the gate key was pass over to them, The gate is supposed to be locked only at 11pm. and the security guard, EAT SNAKE, went back earlier. RAWR~! idiot AHS teachers.. Cannot see got one car inside there, rigth smack in front of you when you are walking out of the sch is it. Don't know a car needs to be driven by a person, and is still inside the sch compound meh.. wa laoz..

It's being proven that nap aids memory.. and now i can take my nap without any guilt.. Muhahah.. Though, nap is up to an hour at most, and preferably without being disturbed.
http://sg.news.yahoo.com/ap/20081125/twl-med-healthbeat-sleepy-brains-1be00ca.html

It's a interesting experiment that they have conducted, but the test grp is such a small grp. with only 20 test subjects. More tests need to be done to fully quantify it. ya.. I'm taking a stats mod now, which makes me more particular abt it.

Just a few days ago, the price of the COE was at a ALL-TIME low of $2. Compared to 2 months ago, $12,000. And that brought some interest to Dan, meng and me. Browsing thru the catalogue of cars, 2nd hand cars. Selecting possible models. how interesting to be shopping for such a BIG toy... lolx..

Have been lucky that Dan (and Meng, sometimes) has been sending me back after studying till late in VJ almost everyday. That saves much time from the hassel of travelling. *Thanks Bro... It's during this period of time that staying in hall makes it so much better. You just don't feel like travelling much, and just spend time either on the notes, or just simply resting is also better. When would I be getting my own car? I always freq inaccessible places, which would be of so much help if I do have one.. But when would that be... hmm... 3yrs time?

BOB TAN, the "guy" who has been accompanying us for the past week, watching us silently from one corner of the room. Can't imagine how life would be in the classroom without your presence.. will be seeing you again tomorrow...

Fish asked me whether I would want to go Backpacking to South Cambodia & Ho Chin Minh from 15th to 24th dec. with a estimated cost of only $500. Partly due to the $180 2-way tix that we can get at the moment to Ho Chin Minh now. plus an estimated daily expenditure of less than $20/day. That gives us a really low cost travelling.. It's with this grp that we can really go so low, cos everyone is fine with the budget way of travelling and accomodation... Though I've been to both country before le, but not every part have been explored. There's still a mine field zone that I wish to visit... Visit.. not walk into it.

Sis thinking of bringing parents to Bali for a short trip, ask me whether I want to go anot also.. Plus my already planned trip to Genting at the end of the month, I don't think it's feasible for me to go le. Can't be whole month not in Sin again, like last yr when I was in India.. Hmm... There's alway other opportunities to travel ard...

I love travelling... Must start saving for the next trip le... Diving next feb & May and one back packing trip in July next yr.. I'm gunning for it...

There are always funny ppl ard, which I can't seem to understand.. or is it me that's weird??

What would u think when it's written as COMPULSORY to go.. must be thinking.. orh.. must go if no appropriate reasons. but the person who suggested that it must be COMPULSORY, cannot make it .. citing "Other Committments" as a reason. So is it really that COMPULSORY? or is it that I can't comprehend English that well, and miss out part of the meaning in the word?

I don't know man..

Iliotibial band syndrome

Went to see the sin seh just now, and he told me I have the Iliotibial band syndronme. Iliotibial band syndrome is due to inflammation of the iliotibial band, a thick band of fibrous tissue that runs down the outside of the leg. The iliotibial band begins at the hip and extends to the outer side of the shin bone (tibia) just below the knee joint. The band functions in coordination with several of the thigh muscles to provide stability to the outside of the knee joint.

researching further on the cause of it, it gave reasons such as over-pronating, worn-out shoes or increasing mileage too fast, etc. Looking at the list, this 3 looks the most likely culprit. Honestly, I don't think I increase mileage too fast though. 12, 12, 15, 18, 22, 25, 28. Decent increase of 3-4km each time. which is way better than my 8km increment 2yrs ago. Not really sure what has caused it, though I really want to try and prevent it from happening again. Don't want such things to cause an end to my running. Will take note of the way I run, and see if I really over-pronate.

Recommended thing to do now is to rest TOTALLY for 2-3 weeks, and full recovery is expected to take 3-4months. Oh man.. like not long...

Plagued by injury

failed to complete my planned 30km today, due to excrutiating pain that i felt on the outside of my left leg. Could feel the slight strain on the leg when I begun the run, but it was still okay. At the 7km mark, the pain was horrible that I couldn't bear it any longer. Had to stop.. After resting a while, tried to run again, hoping that it would go away, but it just won't. Limp back to Downtown east area, and thankfully, i always carry $1.50 with me, so as to buy drink at the end of the run. So took bus 21 back. now, even walking hurts. Don't know if it's ligament issue or muscle strain. Either way, it's just bad. Even worst that SCSM is 3weeks away only. Sigh... Now can only hope that it'll recover in time.

Last day of sch for me this sem le.. which means reading week is coming, and finals is within 12days time.. madness. This sem just fly by in a wink.

Just a few hrs ago, got another scare by the lecturer, telling us that the format of the paper has changed. GEK 1529. Food and health. It is known that the paper is purely MCQ. BUT BUT BUT... this sem, they decided to add in structured and essay qn. which they only like tell us TODAY!! WTF. last lecture of the sem then tell us this. how can like that de. This is the first time they change the format of the paper. and I've to kenna it.. It makes so much diff while studying for MCQ paper and essay qn can. Now, much more time needs to go into it. kns.. like that how.. everything plan out liao. Where to slot in more time for it.. sigh.. and that's a even bigger assumption that I can even revise finish what I plan in the first place.

Anyway, was supposed to be out running 30km now. But lao tian ye don't want me to run. Rain so heavily. Make all my preparation go down the drain. Hydrated myself with >2L of water le. only make my kidney work extra for nothing..

Oh well... things don't go your way all the time.. Just accept it and move on.. Perhaps it's to tell me that I should study harder..

A video about Religion sent to me by Ks.. Disclaimer first.. view it at your own will, and take it with a pinch of salt if you watch it. It just places some view on religion.

I do share many of the view pts in there, perhaps not so bluntly giving such critics.

Itchy hands are meant to be chopped off and I have one. Ans correct already, still want to go and change.. 99.999% of the time you will change to the wrong one during the last min cos you are in a rush, and tend to read blindly for some of it.. Ans that stood firmly correct to you for the first 3/4 of the test suddenly appears wrong, and all concepts are thrown to the back of the head. with a 99.999% Confidence Interval, and a significance level of 0.001, you will make a significant mistake for the itchy hand of yours..

It happens all too often, now I shall adhere to the "See no evil, Do no evil" method. Close my paper and leave it there. Don't even take out the pencil.

For the stats paper, my A now lies on the brink and it seems to be disolving away, cos I think I've made a mistake which is 25% of the whole paper. Sighz...

it's 18 days to the first paper and I don't know what I'm doing. No real drive to go for it. Letting things be as it is. What am I doing? I don't know..

Avenue Q

Just watched Avenue Q at the esplanade just now.. Sexy, Funny, politically incorrect Musical... Some parts of it is so cynical, racist, X-rated.. but it's all part of the Musical. Would say it was good, and really did make me laugh.. the meaning behind the Musical is to make us think about what's our purpose in life, just like the lead character, Princeton, who was lost in life, 23, left with not much penny.. Messing up his life, not knowing what to do.. searching for a purpose in life.. In the end, he found his purpose is to help others.

A refreshing night to be watching a play that was voted the best play in 2006. With interesting songs and puppets acting, it's a brand new way of looking at muscial for me.

One of the interesting word that was picked up.. Shadenfreude, ( sha-den-fre-u-de) meaning Happiness at the misfortune of others.. This is in german. lolx... how appropriate to use it in that context, remembering what the germans did back then..

Finished my 25km... Not very good condition when I finished it, cos I was feeling quite a bit of strain coming back. Insufficient hydration and salt intake should most likely be the culprit. Tightness in both my legs, with some pain felt in the knees. It's obvious it's fatigue that was cramping my legs. No choice, but to hang on and force myself to complete it.. Just a bit more training, and I think i'll leave it to the final day le.. rest is the upmost importance..

Running is torturing when you are pushing your body to the limit.. but it's all in the mind that will allow you to complete the race. and finally tell yourself, I've done it. Mental strength is one of the most important aspect that will eventually determine how successful we are. Cos no great man succeed without the sheer determination to accomplish something big..

Fantastic finish to 2008 F1

Well well.. what has just happened is definitely worth my time blogging at 3am.

The final grand prix of the 2008 season, Sao Paolo Brazil has just concluded. And Felipe Massa who was 7pts behind leader Lewis Hamilton needed to finish 1st to stand any chance to win the world title. And he did by winning the race in style, perfect race for him, with no mistakes or wat so ever. But the world championship was not within his control, and he needed hamilton to finish 6th to win the title base on head to head wins.

It all went down to the last 3 laps of the race when kubica overtook hamilton and gave Sebastian vettel a chance to overtake hamilton for the 5th position, pushing hamilton down to 6th. And there was instant panic, cos that would cause him his title. Aggresive driving and manoeuvre for the last 3 laps was displayed by Hamilton and Vettel.

And when Massa went past the Chequred flag to take home the 1st position, all Ferrari fans were cheering and screaming, (including me) Cos they thought Massa, a brazilian has brought home not only the Sao Paolo GP, but also the World title. (The last brazilian who was crowned world champion was Marcos Senna, a F1 legend who has sadly pass away due to an accident. )

So what happened? Timo Glock who was running 4th position, ran out of fuel, and had to crawl back to the finishing line, and just that, it allowed Vettel to past in 4th, and Hamilton in 5th... WTH!!!! Everyone had already thought Massa had won it.. Team Toyota had to spoil it by mis-calculating their fuel load. Everybody was stunned for a moment, not believing what they see on the screen, and needed double confirmation to see Hamilton finished in 5th. And it was confirmed... sadly.. Hamilton took home the 2008 F1 World Title with 98pts, Massa with 97pts, just one pt differences separated them... By lifting the F1 World title, Hamilton is expected to overtake Beckham as England's richest sportsman.

What an exciting end to the 2008 F1 Season, this is definitely a classic that would be remembered for years to come.

*Too bad, there isn't much F1 fans ard that would appreciate the thrill of this...

Ran 21km just now.. Finally a timing that I'm satisfied with.. 1hr 56min.. Dear reminded me to properly pace myself just before I begun my run, and it did help tremendously. Still felt fresh after 15km.. Just that the last 2km was a bit of a push.. Was running at a comfortable pace of ~6min/km . Now I just need to maintain this for erm.... another 21km... LOLz... ya... aim is to finish ard 4hr 15min.. So need roughly this pace to make it happen.. just one more month to go to SCSM. not much time liao... Plus the exam is just round the corner.. how rush can this get..

Anyway, Here are some of the photos during Fang's Bdae.. =D

Just before we begun the dinner..

On the upper deck playing some sparkles that Bx bought..

Bdae Gal taking photos just the different cliques/group.. erm.. ya.. grp.. >.<

All the invited guests.. sumptous meal.. Happy Belated Bdae once again.. and thanks Bx..

Finally the Inter-club League has come to a conclusion.. In the final game of the seaon, we played against Congenital optimists. With a 6VP lead over our next rival, D'rakes we had a slight advantage going into game... All fresh up ready for the challenge, only to find out that NTU A did not send a team to compete today, and thus a walk over for them... And guess what.. NTU A opp was D'rakes. so D'rakes got a free 21VP without playing anything.. So we begun the fight with a 15VP to crawl back..

Played with Hx for first half, ended first half behind by 7imps. Not what you would have wanted when we are supposed to win... 2nd half, played with Zx instead... Finished off with 55-12 Imps. So ended up with a 62 - 24 Win, granting us 22-8 VP victory.. Woohoo... Hiong for a few hand and it paid off.

So after Struggling and fighting hard for the last 5 matches of the league, managed to win 3 out of the 5 and saved our own Ass. Filling in the gap that was created by some of them early in the season. Phew~!.. This season has ended, but it was a scare.. I seriously don't think we are that bad to be kicked down to Div 3. If only they fielded the stronger player right from the start.. perhaps the results could have been much more different. Oh well.. It's all over.. Shall just prevent such things from happening again next season...

For now.. It's time to let all things rest and Fully study for the next one month.

I did a dumb thing today... overslept on the bus.. Upon opening my eyes, found myself in an unfamiliar surrounding.. Got down, went opp to change bus.. took the first bus that came... and press the bell. Got off... to find myself in yet another unfamiliar place.. Zzz... I got off one stop earlier... Cos i overshot by 2 stops.. Rawr~! So again, hop onto the next bus that came along. waste 2 transfer $0.31. Just how blur can I get..

Week 10 is half way thru.. 4 more weeks to the finals.. how exciting.. MaDnEsS... no time liao...

Anyway, Happy bdae to Fang.. 21 liao.. =)

Went to Santa Fe, Riverboat, a floating restaurant at Marina south Pier to celebrate Fang's Bdae. A surprised party planned by Bx, (Fang's bf). Reached there at 6.50pm, thought I would be late, but I was the earliest. lolx.. The ambience was nice, countryside style. Just a bit sad that the Initial plan couldn't go ahead due to the rain... had to settle indoor instead. The top deck had a nice sea view, al fresco dining, with a Jacuzzi by the side..

Tex-Mex food. and it was relatively nice and decent for the price. About $20 for a main course. I had the Signature dish, Fajita.... $26.90, served with a drink. How does one describe a fajita? In the most basic sense of the word, a fajita is simply grilled meat served on a tortilla. The chef grills the meat, which is then transferred to a sizzling hotplate (right) with sauteed onions and bell peppers. This is then served with the tortilla and assorted condiments such as guacamole, sour cream, grated cheese, lettuce and more pico de galo. Pick and choose from all the different ingredients you have on hand to make your own fajita, with each combination giving you a slightly different taste. I love the combination of everything. Grated cheese goes so well with sour cream and lettuce... yum yum!!

Didn't bring my camera along.. =( So can only wait for them to upload and kope photos liao...

Went for NB real run in the morning. And the route this year is a bit different from last yr's one. Which now really IS an all terrain run. first 3.5km was off-road running, the uneven terrain coupled with the horde of ppl storming down the path, makes it tough. It didn't helped that the race started at 7.45am, sun blazing down at us. So hot lar.. Though I still can't understand why 10km start earlier than 15km, when it's obvious which will take longer. ( 10km started at 7.30am ) After the first 3km, which I killed myself by running a pace of 5min/km. I slowed down significantly to pace myself, hoping to salvage the strained body. it was tar running for the next 9km, till we hit the sand along changi Beach. a 800m worth of sand is no joke. It puts the strain of the calf to the limit, with each step sinking in and not generating enough stride. after that, the last 2.5km, was the HOTTEST part. Running on the Temporary Runway. straight road, which never seems to end, it's machiam sun basking there can. OPEN area. In the end, finished it with a time of 1hr 45mins. horrible timing for my own standard. to think my last 21km was 1hr 52min. wat a far cry.. *boohoo.. ( p.s. last yr real run, my timing was 1hr 22min. )

Disappointed with myself, that I can't take the heat. It gave me very bad headache, and I know that I didn't hydrate myself enough the few days before that. Can feel that heat stroke is coming if I don't watch out. This is supposed to be a build up to SCSM training, hoping to clock a good time, to boost myself for the last part of the training. instead, it has dampen it.. need to work even harder. 49 more days to SCSM. not enough time le... sigh...

putting that aside, accompanied dear to the temple for a while, before having a coffee drinking session. Haha.. just wanted to sit by the coffee table, bring out the newspaper and chill... it's really busy now that, it's hard to find the " xian qing" to do it. anyway, it was good.. =D still had our fair share of Jackfruit and peach ice-cream.. eat till full full..

A little contribution by dear, making sure that I won't forget about her..

Sometimes I really wonder.. Have I being thinking too highly of myself? Have i been sitting on the top for too long, such that I've forgotten how to be humble and be nice to ppl. Perhaps not.. cos I have never being at the top in the first place.. but still, I question myself on how things have changed over the past few yrs, and how I've progressed to the current moment.

Things have changed rapidly, especially in the past 1.5yrs in Uni. Perspectives have changed, personality has changed. The environment sometimes forces you to mould in the shape that it wants you to. and if you don't, you will be deem as the "extra kia" trying to be funny. Am I the "extras" now? perhaps..

Personally, I feel I've been normalized.. Mixed into the whole pool of people, unable to distinguish myself. Used to at least get some spotlight at times, now i'm just a plain old me.

life is tough...

Jus ran 16km, supposed to prep for the New Balance Real Run this coming sunday. Completed the run, but it wasn't in a good condition. Donated bld barely a week ago, or rather 5 days ago, my Hb level is still low, haven't replenish yet. Which means I'm pushing my body with lesser O2 circulating, and more Co2, and lactic acid in higher concentration. Could really feel the difference, and my body was crying out stop..

Nevertheless, I refused to give in.. Cos I live by the mentality that even if everyone gives up on me, I'll never give up on myself.. If one day I ever do that, there should be nothing else that can make me go on..

Felt faint, upon finishing, dizzy, couldn't really see well, misty vision for a period of time.. Scary feeling.. Will have to be more careful for the next 3 weeks, till my hb level replenishes.

Had an interesting weekend... Or rather.. better than usual. Finally finished the horrible long CA weekSSS.. stretched for 2weeks and it was torturing. Molecular Cell paper was the worst I've ever done before. Sure gg.. No amount of study justifies that. Seriously I might as well don't study at all, the end result won't be much different. Anyway, it's over le.. Just have to do my best for Finals...

Played MJ with Ben, Lianghe, and tuck on fri night. Before that, all tramatised by the horrible paper. We went to splurge on Jack's place. Each ordered a steak, and just the 4 of us, our bill was $134 liao. Played MJ all the way till 5.30am, before I gave them a treat at Mac, Cos I won most of it. Just a little return treat.

On sat.. Studied at home with dear.. With me falling asleep a couple of times, at least i tried my best to do what I could for the day. Still managed to watch an episode of SATC. Haha.. Almost finishing le.. Just a few more episode to go.. =D

Today, Sunday, Went to Paradiz centre with Lynal and Teckwei as part of the invited guest for the Singaporepools Japan Grand Prix viewer. Went in there with some simple food, and watched the Japan Grand Prix with all the rest of the ppl cheering and enjoying. It's definitely much more enjoyable then watching alone at home, with everyone other than me thinking that it's irritating bees buzzing around. >.<

Went shopping thereafter. Being a long time since I last went shopping. Even forgot that Wisma has changed, and there's no longer anymore FISH tank in the middle of the place liao. Still wanted to meet there first.. lolx..

Headed to Velocity to collect my Real run race kit. And gues what? The bib they printed have the wrong name.. It's my NOK name.. my Sis.. so now I have to run with my sis name on my bib. So farnie lar..

Thereafter, headed to Taka for shopping.. Just wanted to get my daily dosage of Fruit juices, I got attracted by the Sushi by the shelf. Yes, it's not as good as what I would normally prefer, but just by the stall, presented nicely to u, once in a while, just enjoy the nicely packaged one. Well.. It's not bad actually. The salmon is quite sweet, texture not bad.. Just that the rice a bit hard le. mai hiam buai pai. 1 cent 1 good.

At Taka, they had a runway. With Dior designers, and nice stage, was thinking how come will be so nice, let us have free show.. and it turned out, it was Barbie runway. LOLx.. All models were young girls, from 4-10. mostly <6. HAha... They walk like hopping. Quite cute though..

It's just nice to go shopping with dear.. Too bad our time is tight.. So busy... >.<

19th time and counting. just one short of the 20 donation mark. How long more would I be healthy enough to keep donating blood? I don't know, but as long as I can, I will. It's just a small action of ours that can mean a lot to someone else.

Monday, October 6, 2008

Finally, I concluded my tuitions for this end of the year. Bringing a close to countless weeks of 3-4days of tuition a week, 4-5 sessions. It's been really tiring travelling to and fro just to get to the place. It did not help when the place is all so far. I feel I've not only done my part on imparting knowledge to my fellow students, I've passed on some other valuable experiences. Important thing is that they benefit and learn from it. Though in the end, it comes down to the part about whether they do well in their exams.. Since that's what how people gauge. Although I agree that it's important to do well, there are many other things that they as teenagers should be aware of. It is during this crucial adolescence period that makes a huge impact on the path they take next. Good foundation is a platform to proceed further.. bad influences and it's trouble trouble.

Thinking about myself back in those days. I had my fair share of bad influeces in sec 1, playing cards, reading mags.. But things changes as I went on. Life is just such an interesting journey.

Anyway, Ayam Penyet!! That i got at the hawker near Bedok Camp II . It looks appetizing, and it sure taste good. =) Going at $4, a decent price to pay for the crispy and juicy Chicken thigh meat..

I forgot to bring either of my ez-link card today. Yes. Either, cos I usually bring 2 around. And I had to purchase the one way ticket. Lolz.. When was the last time that anyone has used it? I can't remb using it actually, and I believe many ppl have already forgotten how one way ticket looks like. =D

Mid sem CA

Have been really busy recently, chionging thru preparation for the Mid-sem paper..

2 paper down.. 2 more to go.. Econs, EC1301 was on monday, and today was Metabolism , LSM2101. Econs paper wasn't that tough.. it's just really ambigious. The way the questions are being phrased, makes it hard. Plus all the choice looks reasonable. Don't know how I'll fair for it.. Oh well.. Metab was slightly better.. or rather, much better than I've expected. There's really SoooOo much to study, all the enzyme names, pathways, regulators, etc. In the end, it was do-able, only cos of my damn itchy hand, had to go and change 2 correct ans.. @#$&^* Must trust my own instinct next time.. DON"T anyhow change ans. it CAN be really 4Ds in a row.. *rawr..

F1 Qualifying

Just watched F1 qualifying.. Highly anticipating the First Sin GP tomorrow night at 8pm.. The street race style has been well known for its narrow track, and this didn't disappoint. Most of the time the pole position runner will go on to win the street race, due to the limited chances for other cars to overtake.. shall see whether this will repeat itself again. Tomorrow night 8pm... stay tune...

Dear's bdae

Happy 22nd Bdae...

Celebrated Dear's B'dae at Marina Mandarin, " Aqua Marine " the restaurant. Ate the International buffet, which had the "french" theme for the day, partly due to the F1 just round the corner, everyday they have a different theme. The food was quite yummy. Variety was quite satisfying as well. As in, it took us like 1.5hr to slowly eat and try every dish. The ambience was nice. Just that after awhile, there was a grp of ppl, then it started to get a bit noisy..

Along Singapore River

Surprise cake at home... =D

Hui San, her sis who helped me to collect the cake.. Thanks girl..

Dear's family

hope it was an enjoyable day for you..

Disappointed

What can I say. Totally astonished by the decisions some ppl make. First, took up the president position, only to realise that the other president position in another club is of more interest to him. Well, that can be normal right.. But what was done after that was a bit disturbing. during one of the speech given, this was said " If i'm given the chance to be the president of this club, I'll quit the other one. " Oh wow!! How determined and shows character.. pui~!

Perhaps some ppl think it's perfectly fine, I don't. Once you have taken up a leadership position, it's only right to bear the responsibility and fufil the full term while holding position. It shows the total lack of planning and responsibility to say such a thing. Indirectly telling ppl, I'm treating the other one as a back-up. You think ppl will vote for u ?

What makes a good president? One with good skills? one with good PR skills? one with committment? one with ideas? one that cannot make up his own mind? one that execute like a dictator? etc.. the list can go on and on... Which one of it is the ideal leader for u ? Many criteria comes together to form one and granted.. No one is perfect, that's where you need a committee to complement each other. So if There's only 3 things that you can choose for a leader.. What are they?

My choice.
1. Committment
2. Good PR skills.
3. Good Skills. ( related to the club )

What about yours?

Was just browsing thru the SCSM website just now.. And it dawned upon me that the start time for my event is 5.30am, and dear's 10km is 8.15am. Taking into consideration that it's so packed that she'll take some time to clear the start, giving a total of 1h 30mins to finish. She'll end by 9.45am.. So that leaves me with 4hr 15mins to finish. Hmm... a bit strectching.. maybe let her wait 15mins.. try to finish by 4hr 30min. haha... An aim in mind to keep me chionging. At the moment, the target still seem quite a distance away. Need to keep up with my training..

Anyway, yest was the first time that we did a night run together. Haha.. Cooling right.. =D

This entry is politically sensitive, but i just can't resist writing down my thoughts...

Just watched the Documentary on " In N.Korea " We all know the dictatorship that Kim Jong II has established. But watching the show, it strikes more fear into what the ppl in N.Korea are going through. It's inhumane. TOTAL dictatorship and Propaganda.

First of all, ZERO communication is allowed to be done with the world, cos if they do, they will realise what rubbish their "GREAT" leader has done to them. E.g A grp of doctors were sent to help thousands of them who has cataract. Minor surgery were done. And upon healing, The first thing that they did was to Thank the GREAT LEADER KIM JONG II. All did the same thing, Repeating the same thing over and over again. Granted that if he didn't allow the doctors in, They would never be able to see again. however, did they ever thought about what caused it? It's the malnutrition that has resulted in it. Cataract incidence is 10 times higher than any other country. And at the end of the day, they thank him for that? Perhaps the lack of knowledge in the country can explain why they never knew what has caused it in the first place.

Famine struck N.Korea in 1990, where 3mil ppl died. That's about 1/10th of the total population. A total disaster, but yet, their leader refuse to accept any help from the world, ignoring UN aid and food relieve. Cos he believed in self-reliance. Really? Do you know that he has 10 Lamborgni in his garage? Do you know that he was once the biggest individual customer to buy cognac? All these are not known to their ppl, who held such high regards for him. They are all living in poverty, yet this great leader is enjoying life. Just look at how round he is, as compared to his famine strucked countrymen.

DMZ. Demilitarized Zone . The 4km border line that separates N.korea and S.Korea. Anybody caught escaping will be shot dead. and that's not all. The whole family would be placed into concentration camps. A saying goes, No one that enters the concentration camp thinking that you are human will ever live the place alive. Because it's not humanly possibly to do so. When was the last time you heard about concentration camps? The last I heard about is the Concentration camp in Cambodia, during the Khmer Rouge, 1978 where 3mil ppl were killed. That is 30yrs ago. And now, there's still a Concentration in yr 2008 ? Nobody is doing anything about it?

I really don't know what is going on inside there, decades of brain washing has either successfully made them the obedient childs of Kim Jong II, or perhaps its the fear that he has instilled in them that makes them do whatever he dedicates. knowing that any NO that they say may result in death.

As an outsider viewing the situation, It's unthinkable what the lives of the N.korea are. Is it right to just see them live " happily" under the ruling of the GREAT dictator? Or should we just remove him just like what was done on Saddam hussein? Why hasn't anybody mentioned abt it? Perhaps it's just not right to do so. I don't know, but I really can't stand what is going on there.

I got bored while teaching just now.. So this is the artwork.. my creation.. erm... a "robot-like" looking thingy.. lolz.. My kid was amused by me.. =D

This is the sample of what My LSM 2102 test look like. It was first a test, then followed by this " lucky draw Coupon " We are supposed to form into grps of 5-6, and discuss. And scratch the box to see if we have hit the " STAR " . If there's only 1 disclosed ans for that qn, we score 4marks. if 2scratched, we score 2 marks, 3 scratched, we score 1mark. 4 or 5 scratch, 0 marks.

Interesting way of conducting a test hor.. Make it interactive and fun. At the end of the day, the Aim of getting us to discuss and wreck our brain for the ans is also met..
