Bon Appetit!

Jason and I were invited over for dinner at our neighbor's house last Saturday...which was pretty cool because we have cool neighbors and he is a French chef. They have two little girls, Claudie and Martine, and the girls offered us some relaxing music or a movie when we first got there...Claudie (9?) told us about her lacrosse team and Martine (7?) showed us the 100% she got on her wilde beast report and also showed us her first communion dress and veil. Dinner was fabulous! We had a delicious salad to start with, and then moved on to the main course: pheasant in a mushroom sauce served with rice and an asparagus and green bean salad. (The pheasant was actually from Jason's recent hunting trip in South Dakota. ) It was really good! We kind of felt bad because Patrick (pronounced Pah-treek, he's the chef) kept getting shotgun beebees in his meat. Anyway, it was really delicious! Dessert was flan with cream and fresh raspberries! Mmm! We ended up staying for three hours because we took our time eating (it's the French way) and then enjoyed a slide show of their last trip to France. We had an enjoyable time and felt pretty spoiled to be having a free meal prepared by a French chef.

Help! I'm trapped in an old woman's body!

I reached a new stage in pregnancy this week, the I'm-so-tired-and-out-of-breath-without-even-doing-anything stage. I get so fatigued all the time now! Here is an example of what I mean: Yesterday Jason and I decided to walk to Shopko. By the time we got there, I was so tired I had to rest on a chair in the patio furniture display section before I could begin shopping for anything. Then, after finding what we wanted, I had to rest again before leaving. On the way home I had to stop every few yards to rest...I felt like I had just run a marathon! It got really exciting when Jason was practically carrying me across a parking lot and I almost passed out. My vision got really blurry, I felt really hot, and my legs stopped working. Jason got me to a grassy parking strip where I laid down while people stared at me while driving by. Jason ran home to get the car because I knew I wouldn't make it home otherwise. I was so happy to be home, and so happy that Jason was with me! I guess I really need to be careful about how much I exert myself. Also, my balance it suddenly way off. Today I was doing a little weeding in the back flower beds, and when I stood up, a lost my balance and fell on my bum. I tried grabbing the weed bucket on my way down, but, oddly enough, it didn't stop me from falling. Wow, being pregnant is such an daily adventure!

Our Dear Moms

I just wanted to write a thank you to our moms. Jason and I both are fortunate to have really good, loving moms. Even now they are always thinking of us and helping us out. It's nice to know that no matter what, our moms will always love us and be there for us. I found this quote about moms that helps to describe our moms:

A mother is a person who seeing there are only
four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces
she never did care for pie. -Tenneva Jordan

Mom's Day, BBQ, and Games

I hope everyone had a happy Mother's Day yesterday! We did, although Jason had to work in the evening. The highlight of the day for me was to talk to my little brother, Eric (he's in the middle, my other brother Steve is on the end). He is on a mission in Brooklyn, New York, and he's been out for almost a year. This was the first Mother's Day that people wished me a happy Mother's Day, and I even received my first Mother's Day gift and card (thanks mom, mom-in-law and sisters-in-law).

We had a pretty good weekend. Pat came to stay with us for a few days and hang out. We had a BBQ on Friday with some friends and family-we even got to spend some time with Sheridan and Beth Green (they are moving to Texas in July, and we will miss them). We went to a Utah Blaze game (indoor football) on Saturday with some friends and family and had ice cream at our house afterwards...and watched Latter-Day Night Live. We watched the Jazz game with Stanton on Sunday, and he made us a fabulous dutch oven meal. All in all, it was great how many people we got to see this weekend and spend time with, and it was really fun! We even took the motorcycle for a spin on Saturday because the weather was so good (here's a picture of Jason on the bike, for those who have never seen our motorcycle...and that's a fake buffalo in the background)! I hope everyone else had an enjoyable weekend, too.

Here's a funny story: I took a little three-year old boy to the bathroom on Sunday, and while I was helping him I asked him if he thought it smelled like cookies in there (I swear, the bathroom smelled like oatmeal raisin cookies). He said, "yeah..." then looked at my belly and asked, "did you eat them all?"
