Updating
Thanks to our tax return, we've been able to update a few things in our home. It's funny how making a few little changes gives my entire day a sense of renewal. We've repainted the kitchen, living room and hallway with my dads ol' faithful shade, Labswool by Pratt & Lambert. We've also purchased new chairs, tables and couches for the living room. Jesse built a thin console table for a large, blank wall we have in our living space. My favorite addition thus far has been my new roman shades that I sewed for our kitchen windows. They were an expensive undertaking and I was concerned I'd mess up and waste the investment. However, they turned out better than I anticipated and I'm quite relieved.
Cheers to home renovations that help me survive my two least favorite months of the calendar year!!

TU Burrito
Aidan, our clever, imaginative child is always making up games to play with non-toy materials. He's been doing this since he learned to crawl. Actually his motivation to crawl at 9 months was to reach the Play Station 2 controller across the room. His latest game has been to roll himself up in a blanket. He told me yesterday that he was a burrito, but I couldn't eat the meat (Aidan), just the tortilla (the blanket). Thank you God for individuality and creativity! Hopefully I'll appreciate it the same when he's a teenager!

Aidan's 1st Day of School
My little boy started school this morning (tear). We were expecting a tough transition. He cries every time we leave him at church. This has been going on for a year now. But, at church, the Sunday School teacher is different every week because it is a parent volunteer.
This morning he walked in to his "cool classroom," sat down at his seat labeled "Aidan S." (of course there are two Aidan's) and wrote his name on the paper. As we were leaving he said, "Bye, have a nice day." Clearly, this tough transition is harder for me than Aidan. :(

Annie is 6 weeks old and smiling!
We've reached the 6 week milestone and little Annie is starting to show off her personality. She already loves her brother and is easily entertained by him. She's also stubborn and she will choose to cry and cry even when she is dead tired! She gets the most angry when a tiny little hand (her own hand of course)comes around the back of her head and pulls on her beautiful brown hair!! We were so excited to discover her smile last week. Her own reflection makes her smile the biggest and she likes the smiling faces of her family.

Annie

Aidan

Annie

Aidan

Well, we brought our little Annie home two weeks ago. She's absolutely precious... everything I knew she would be! However, no matter how prepared you "think" you are to have a newborn, you're not! Lack of sleep can turn the most rational person into a complete lunatic. I've been crying for no real reason (probably has a little something to do with the hormones as well). Many good friends have reminded me that this is just a phase (true, true) and that she will grow up so fast just like our little Aidan(tear, tear).
So, to treasure these first few months of life, we've been taking many pictures. The more pictures I take, the more Annie looks like Aidan with a bow stuck on her head. It's really amazing. I had to post some pictures to show the resemblance.
