Christmas Fun!

We have had an awesome Christmas Season. Here are a few things that we have done starting with the most resent. Last night was the Pickett family Christmas party. It was a big day for my grandma because she moved into a new assisted living center and got to see about 50 of her family members. At the party we played a game, ate pizza, caught up on everyone lives. I take every opportunity to take a picture of Little A with Grandma so he has them to remember her.
On Monday my family was going to go skiing but due to the lack of snow we decided to head up to Hardware Ranch and see the Elk. All I can say is that we must be crazy because it was only 4 degrees outside. That is why we are all so bundled up and still cold. Grandma Tamra and Grandpa Elden gave Little A a rocking horse for Christmas. He has loved it that morning before bundling all up this is how I found Little A after getting ready. In a onies, with cowboy boots on riding his horse.
Christmas Morning was so much fun this year. The first picture is little A waiting in the Hallway for me to check if Santa Came a little family tradition. Then he found his gifts and went crazy opening them. Little A loved talking about Santa and presents. Santa spoiled Little A this year. When asked what he wanted for Christmas Little A would tell you a ChoCho. Which along with many other things he got a ChoCho.
After opening all his gifts we got ready and headed over to my parents house to open more gifts and eat more food. This is when Little A got his rocking horse which was a big hit. He still rides it, feeds it and takes care of it all the time. Ken and Reag got electric scooter this year from grandma and grandpa they thought they were the coolest ever. Little A wanted his 13 year old cousin R to ride his horse with him. Being the good sport his is he got on so I had to take a picture of it. Every year it is a tradition for the sister to get our Oldest brother Lance a gag gift. This year we found a video called "Party off the pounds" with Richard Simmons. We are a little afraid that he is now going to go home and really do it.
That afternoon we headed over to my hubbies parents house for more gifts and more food! Little A got this cute book called Tickle Monster from his grandma. He loves putting on the tickle monster gloves and reading the book. Once again the horse came out and all the grandkids wanted to ride it. I was way proud of how well Little A shared.
Christmas Eve morning we went to Breakfast and Bowling with my Hubbies family. I was so mad because I forgot my camera. Every year bowling if you get a strike you get a candy bar. While this year I finally got not only my first STRIKE but even a second one. So I felt good about myself but no picture to document it.
That evening we headed over to my parents house to the Christmas Eve party. Every year Santa come and checks in on the children and Grandma and Grandpa to see how good they have been. Since Little A has been talking about Santa so much this year I thought he would be excited to see him but instead he cried and cried.
After Santa left we ate dinner and then the Grandchildren put of a program. It was so fun to see all the talents they have. They all played or sang songs dealing with Christmas and then we reenacted the nativity. This year Little A was a Shepard and was just excited that he got to carry a dog.

That night Little A got to open his cousin gift he got a semi truck that was carrying trucks in it. He love it and rides on it like a scooter. Little A is in a phase right now of putting things on his head he wore this box around for about 15 minutes.
When we got home that night we all put on our Christmas jamies and set cookies out under the tree for Santa.
Little A loves Trains right now. Every year my mother-in-law has a cousin Christmas party. This year it was the Monday before Christmas and the mothers and aunts were invited too to help with the children. We drove to Ogden and got onto the front runner which is like a train. Lille A thought it was so awesome. Once we got down to Salt Lake City. We went around Gateway and then the Dads, uncles, and Grandpa got there and we ate dinner and went to Temple Square to see the lights. What a great way to start off the Christmas fun.

Things missed while wihout internet!

Okay so it is amazing how when you know you are not going to be able to blog something that you just forget to take pictures of it. So I missed many fun a great things that happened while we were with out the internet.
Little A right now is into Pizza when you ask him what he want to eat no matter what time of the day it is pizza. He calls it pizzie and he get a big smile on his face while saying it. He wants the whole piece so do not try to cut it or he will not eat it. Also he really does eat it well. He will eat at least one piece and sometimes two. While the other night I decided to make pizza with him. So I let me knead the dough, I had planned for him to help with the toppings to but he was having too much fun with the flour on the counter that he did not want to help anymore.
Here we are setting up for Christmas. Little A thought this was awesome this year. He helped hang the decoration on the tree and set the snowman up in the entry way. Then he got to watch and carry the cords as my hubby set up his Christmas village. My hubby gets a new piece to his village every year and it is something that he love.
I will have to take pictures of the finished products so you can see them. I will have to say that setting up for Christmas this year was easier then other because I did not have anything that I had to take down first.

Internet!

So I told my sister that I would post something when I got my Internet working at my new house so here it is. I promise I did not fall of the face of the blogging world. It took the tech guy 2 1/2 hours to get our Internet going thanks to having to have satellite Internet out here in Nibley. I mean really Welsville even has cable Internet!

Ending of an Eara

So no pictures yet but when I get one of the front of the house I will post house pictures but that is not what this post is about. Today was the last Sunday in our ward that we have grown together in for almost 5 years. While being here we have been a young married couple, a prego couple and had our first little boy, or first baby blessing, and experience with taking a child to nursery. The Logan 14th ward has memories for many members in my family my sister Kim lived in it for 4 years and my brother Ryan lived in it for a year or so. I guess that has to do with the fact that my parents own to homes in the ward boundaries. We are going to miss this ward it has been a great ward and a wonderful training zone and growing place for us. We have held many callings and meet many great and wonderful people of all ages. Next week we will be the new family in the ward and that is scary for me. I have really gotten into my comfort zone. Change is a great thing so I will be strong and make it through it. If anyone is reading this that is in the 14th ward we just want to thank you for all you have taught us and for the great friendships we have made!

Halloween 2009

Sorry this post is a little late but here it is. We had a great Halloween. Little A and I woke up and made breakfast. We made orange waffles. Little A loves waffles so he was way excited. After we ate Little A colored his pumpkin. We did not carve them this year maybe next year. Little A a blown away by getting to scribble all over his pumpkin and getting to stack/ hook together the markers. After that we headed over and worked on the house. I will take picture soon and update everyone on how it is coming.
That afternoon Little A took a nap and then we got ready for the fun afternoon and evening. We started by visiting my in-laws and then Grandma P. Little A thought he was so cool in hie fly fisherman costume. He did not want to hold still to let me take a picture. That evening we were so excited because Cousin K invited us to Trick-or-treat with her in her neighborhood. The first house we went to the lady opened the door and K. and Little A were there and about 15 other kids. K and Little A were in the front and the next thing I know I can not see Little A. While he had invited himself in when the lady opened the door. Once all the kids left I had to go inside her house and get Little A out. Little A would run from house to house he was so excited. He decided that his fishing pole was a weapon and would try to hit every kid that we passed with it.
After trick-or-treating we went to my parent's house to see all the cousins and eat spaghetti dinner. When we were little we would go to our grandma house to spaghetti too. It was a great ending to a way fun day.
Tay was an old man for Halloween and at the end of the night we all tried on the mask. I took a picture of the old couple (Jodi and Jeff).

A day at the Farm

So it has been a long time since I have updated my blog. During the fun at the farm my camera battery died and I keep forgetting to charge it. Last night I remembered so here we go. Needless to say since my battery died I did not get a whole lot of pictures either. My sister have more picture on their blogs.
A few Saturdays we took the Grandkids to Jensen's Historical Farm. Little A was so excited because he got to ride on a train. Right now trains are really bog to him. I think that was the best part of the day for him. His second was jumping in the hay he thought that he was just as big as the rest of the kids and so he wanted to try everything they were. After the camera died we went on a big slide, thought a hay bale and corn maze, saw the animals, made dolls out of corn husks, watched how to bend hot metal, and Little A rode the train a few more time.
The top picture is all the kids in a little train pulled by a lawn mower, below is the real train and the hay jump.
The other day Little A cuddled with his Daddy on the couch like this for about 10 minutes and for him and is a long time. Lucky Daddy.

Hosue Update 10-10-09

Sorry another house update but this is the way I am documenting it for myself. All the trim work was finished up at the first of the week so the house was turned over to my crazy father who will not rest until his job is done. Painting and masking a house is not little task. He sprayed the primer on the wall Wednesday night and masked and painted trim Thursday, and masked again on Friday (I will be in trouble if I do not mention that both of my brother came and helped that last night) and this morning he had my hubby and brother-in-law there at 6:00 am to paint the walls. In the mean time my hubby and his dad and brother have been working on getting the outside of the house finished.
Here is a sample of some of the things that will be in our home. Carpet which will be in the living room, bonus room, bedrooms, and hallway. Hardwood flooring will be in the entry, kitchen and under the desk in the living room. There will be tile in the bathrooms and laundry room but I do not have a picture of it yet. The bottom two are the colors thought out the house inside and out. The first is the wall color and trim color that is the ceiling in the master bedroom. (Lighter color is the trim). The second in the outside color. It is a green color and I love it. The bottom will have rock on it but it is not delivered yet so we are still waiting to put it up.
If things go as planned we are hoping to close at the first of November. So if you are ever board call us and we will put you to work!!!
Once again a big THANKS to everyone who has helped at the house or with Little A.

UEA 2009

We had a great UEA this year. It was fun to do somethings that I have never done before. We started off on Friday and headed to Fossil Bute. The kids loved it. My sister wanted us to go because her daughter has been learning about fossils in school. I was not too excited but in the end I loved it. We started out at the visitor center and looked around at all the awesome fossils and the history of Fossil Bute (by the way it is located on HWY 30 just before Kemmer WY). 50 million years ago Wy or at least that area was a tropic marsh land a lot like parts of Fl. what happened was all I could say to that. Mountain below is one of the mountains that they have been getting the fossils from.
We then decided to take the Fossil Lake. There is no lake there now but it was still way pretty. We had a little lunch on the bridge starting the trail the kids and grandpa were have a great time eating lunchable and enjoying the sun. While on the hike the boys got a kick out of the snow ans getting to have a snow ball fight. My niece was with us and she had to carry snow the whole time. I thought it was so cute.
Cousin R and Grandpa and Grandma taking a rest on one of the benches.
Little A and his little cousin on my hubby's side were troopers they walked most of the mile and a half. They were only carried on the steep part coming down. Below is the map of the trail that we hiked and a pic of grandpa reading more about the history of the trail. I love Little A in his green hat and he is so cute.
While on the hike we took a rest and my dad had to teach us about all the information he had read about the trail. So you may be wondering why the picture of the sheep. On our way back to the ranch from Fossil Bute we were greeted by these sheep on the road. They were herding them and there were at lease 500 of them. My sister and I sure got a kick out of it.
I really wanted Little A to ride the horse while we were at the ranch but he would only pet them. Maybe in a few years when he is older and bigger.

On the way home we had the pleasure of driving in the snow. The roads were covered but we all made it home safe.

Johah

As I am writing I am having to hold back the tears from coming. Many of you do not know this sweet little Guy but this is my nephew. It is my husband's sister little guy. He is 8 months old and this coming Thursday he will be having his second open heart surgery (in California). He is such a fun loving baby and a blessing to all of us. Please if you would remember him and his family in your prayers this week as it is going to be a very stressful time.

Mom where are my TOES?

Today at the store Little A picked out his new fall/winter PJs. Since it is suppose to get below freezing tonight is our great valley I decided to out them on him. He was so funny because he thought his toes were gone since his summer PJs did not have feet covers. He just keep pulling at his PJs trying to find his toes.

Also if you have not read the next post and tell me what you think we should do?

House Update 9-19

We are getting way excited because the house is starting to take shape and look like a house. The Sheetrock is done and most of the exterior is based. We have been working on the finish work and it is fun but a lot of work. Here are some of the things that we are doing to add character to our house. My hubby put these columns in with out asking me and a first I was a little worried but I really like what he has done with them. In little A room we have created a wains coating that goes 2/3 of the way up his wall with a shelf on 2 of the walls in his bedroom. In the other room we did a shadow boxing on 1 wall. We think we are going to add a little shelf on the top.
We are running a chair rail with a board look in the living room. We have them cut but not hung yet. The bottom picture is to show a window but it did not work very well. It also shows our crown molding in our tray ceiling.
I love our doors. We wanted to go with something that fit our home style and was not seen in every house. I think that my hubby has framed them awesome to add the right touch. I has to put my hard working hubby and his little helper in one of the pictures.
Baseboard not to exciting but I wanted to document it. Now is the big question... On the exterior we are debating what to do with the top part that looks like boxes so I want all of your opinions. Here are the 2 ideas. The first is to do it all one color that is lighter than the wall color. The second on is to run the wall color in the back and just do the trim or the part the stick up a lighter color. (the horizontal and vertical lines). Please let me know what you think.

Big First Hair Cut

Today Little A got his first hair cut. Thank You Aunt H for doing it for us. This morning I took one last wild hair picture. The next is the first cut, then making it all look good. At one time he had a killer Mullet but we decided that business in the front and party in the back was not a good look for him. We keep giving him drinks from the pray bottle to keep in entertained during the hair cut. The last picture is the finished hair cut. I love the look on his face like he is now big enough to rule the world. I have to agree I think it makes him look a whole lot older.

Labor Day!

So I have to start with an update on the house. The Sheetrock is still coming along they have the whole house taped ready for texture and the garage is getting taped tomorrow. My Hubby build the columns on the front other the weekend and I love them they give the house great character.
The whole front. You can not tell but the trim work is started and it is awesome. I will try to get a good picture of it so you can see it.
On Monday we had a day fun of events. I did not take many picture so check out my sister blogs they did a better job documenting it. We started the day off with the 5k. I was so excited I bet my all time best with a finishing time of 38 minutes and 40 seconds. After that we headed to the parade. Many of the kids were in it and so Little A got a lot of candy. After the parade we went to the Sham Battle. It is a reenactment of the cowboy and the Indians fighting over land and the Calvary come in at the end and saves the day. Yes they burn a wood house down and wrestle and fight.

After all of that we headed to my sister's house for a BBQ. I had to laugh that there was 5 men cooking the hamburgers while 5 women (one behind the pole) taking care of/watching one baby.
I loved this view of Little A so I just had to add it to the post.

Daddy's Boots and House Update

This is post has many pictures and is long. I need to post more often so they are not as long. The other day Little A. put was putting his daddy's boots. It was so fun and cute. I could not get him to sand still so all the pictures are a little blurry. The other picture is of a rose bush that my hubby gave me for V-day a few years ago. It bloomed many time and then the last year or so nothing has happened so we gave up on it and put it out side and now it has roses again.
So I have been a slacker at updating about the house. Last week they sprayed the insulation though out the house. We have three different types in the house. I did not know that there were so many different types. The bright yellow is just the stuff you roll in, in big bats, the stuff on the wall the put a fabric up and then spray in the insulation, and last is the stuff in the ceiling it is a liquid and then it grows into a foam. It is crazy.
Sheetrock came next. They are still hanging it and they have started to tape it too. From what I understand it is quit a process. Here is little A in his bedroom and 2 other pictures of it. Yes he is sitting on a microwave, it belongs to the sheet rockers.
Top 2 master bathroom bottom 2 master bedroom. The purple is more water proof.
Front Door and hallway.
The one with Little A in the spare room the one below it is the entry way. The other 2 are where the desk goes and the kitchen.
First top one is the living room. There is a picture of Little A and my hubby in the Laundry Room. We have also put Tyvek on the outside of the house.

Corn on the Cob

Little A loves corn so much. He has had corn on the cob a few times. Last night we had it for dinner and I got the biggest kick out of him and how intense he was when he was eating it. This boy is serious about his food.

Uncle Z and Aunt K wedding

Yesterday My Hubby's little bro got married in the Logan Temple. It was a great day. Uncle Z and Aunt K were so happy and looked for perfect. Little A loves Uncle Z his name was one of his first words. Below is a picture of my Hubby and his bro and 2 sisters there are such a cute group. The wedding was so nice and such a spiritual experience. They are a awesome couple and we are so exited to have Aunt K in our family.
Little A loved playing under the big pine trees at the temple. Uncle Z took Little A binkie and he was digging in Uncle Z pocket to try to find it.
All I can say is what a cute family!
We got picture with all the grandkids and their great-grandmas. Neither are perfect but what can you ask for with 7 little kids. The first picture is Grandma Millgate and the second is Grandma Johnson. The open house was at Aunt K mom and dad's house. They have a amazing back yard.

Uncle Z and Aunt K we love you and wish you the best in life. Thanks for letting us spend the day with you and celebrate with you.
