Firstly, Pearl, I don't think anyone is reading your post about another gathering (except me but I can't attend anyway:(). Heh. Anyway, Happy Christmas and Merry New Year from the otherside of the world :D

Contrary to popular belief, it isn't snowing here in the UK. Global warming etc etc. It's just super cold, right about 1-3 degrees celsius, but no snow :/ I didn't make a trip down to London on Boxing Day this year - plan to do it next year! It's super duper crowded because stuff is amazingly cheap on Boxing Day! Anyway, I spent Christmas at my brother's place gaming on the PS3, going online and sleep. Wash, rinse, repeat. Yeah, pretty much mundane. No fancy holiday (yet) because I've not gotten a job! But on Christmas Day itself, my bro's friends came over for a small get-together and we had a low-cost Christmas dinner :D and of course did some shopping the day after (because it's Boxing Day!) and since his town isn't such a bigggg city, it wasn't *that* crowded.

It has been three months since I've been here and wanching asked me to blog about my life here. Hmm, life is pretty much the same - I think uni is rather slack. Too slack in fact...even though there's work and tests and stuff, last minute chionging still work! Of course the day before the test I'll still feel the stress, but not the kind of stress I get from Chem SPA or Math test back in JC! Things are rather different - I'm sure the other girls would agree with me on this: in Uni it's all up to you. Don't know how strict is it back in NUS/SMU/James Cook, but it's so relaxing that if you don't wanna attend lectures/tutorials, they don't quite care, although attendance is taken. It's like if I wake up on time then I'll go for class - otherwise screw it, I'm sleeping! (And it doesn't help if it's super cold as well and all you wanna do is to hide under your blanket! Thank God I bought a heater :D).

Food here...hmm, is rather bland. They are too healthy I feel. They need more deep-fried, spicy, salty and sweet in their food! That's why I don't quite eat out - mostly do my own cooking and so far, I've just been doing the usual stuff you eat at home! Nothing fancy:) I'm getting sick of the food I cook - I need to learn to cook more stuff T_T varietyyyyy! Food IS expensive - if you eat out! If you buy stuff from Tesco or Asda (equivalent of NTUC!), things are relatively cheap. I can go on and on about the wonders of these shopping marts but I shan't bore you with details!

People - hmm, if you're just like them, you can be one of them! Basically, just drink a lot, get drunk, do one night stands and go clubbing whenever you can and there - you're on of them! Not all of them are like that though - there's definitely a handful of nice ones :) But it's difficult to so-called establish a new clique here because they would usually just a) stick to the other locals or b) have cliques already! So in this case, if you wanna stick with your own people, ie Msians/Singaporeans...you go to the Msian/Singaporean society! And find out that there are very very very very few Msians/Singaporeans. Well, actually other universities have no such problem...only mine! My fault for choosing a very ulu uni:( Hehe. Ah well. Next thing you do - look for Chinese people! Yep, met a bunch of them - from HK. And they happen to be in my course as welll so these are the people I mix with, most of the time.

It sounds as if my life here in the UK is rather morbid. Um, in a way, yes..but life is pretty much the same. Of course, if I was studying in Singapore things would be so much brighter - no problem adapting to the people, culture, currency (£1=RM5=$2.50 T_T) etc. But for the sake of the experience of living overseas...this is a good one because the more different it is than your own culture, the more you'll learn! :)

I don't don't like it here; I think it's okay. I can't wait to go back though - just can't imagine how to live with the tropical weather anymore!
