Post-LASIK Consultation - 1 week (26/11/07)
Went for my 1 week consultation in the morning. MY eyes had been getting better. But still dry. But my left eye can see much clearer already.
As usual, went there, first thing the nurse will check my eyesight. Then after that, went in the consultation room to see Dr Ang. He checked my eyes with the scope thingy, and said that the flap is healing really well. He also checked my eyesight and told me that I had 6/4.5 vision for both eyes, which is better than perfect eyesight! Perfect eyesight is 6/6, and mine is 6/4.5! And he told me that my eyesight will continue to improve and become sharper as the eye continues to heal. Really glad to hear that. Only the 1st week of operation, and already I had such good results!
The next consultation will be about 1 month later. Hopefully my eyes can get much much better with dryness, halo by then....

Post-Operation Consultation (21/11/07)
Woke up in the morning, and my left eye feels much better, but still dry and abit blur. Went to SNEC for a followup with Dr Ang.
Sunday morning, the place is actually close. Went in and a nurse is waiting for me! Haha... So weird, I haven even reach the counter, the nurse saw me and ask if I am Mr Chong. They actually came just for me I think!! OMG!!! She checked my eyesight for me, and my right eye as usual is 6/6, but left is 6/7.5. Dr Ang came and checked my eyes and said they were perfect. Told him about my dry and blur left eye, and he said its common. This shows that my left eye is the more unhealthy eye, due to the damage from contact lens wear. He assured me that it will take sometime to heal, and a 6/6 and 6/7.5 vision on the next day after operation is actually very good. My next appointment would be 1 week later. After the consultation, Dr Ang left the place also! That means he came is just to see me for that short time! Really damn good doctor.
Things are really great for me now. Can see quite clearly already! Really thanks to Dr Ang and all the nurses that had helped me.
Now I can really say goodbye to my specs & contact lens!

Lasik Surgery Part 2 - Left Eye (17/11/07)
Can't really sleep well last night cos of the sunglass that I have to wear while sleeping. Anyway, woke up in the morning, and my right eye feels totally healed! I can see super clearly, with my side-effects like dry eyes. In fact, I didn't get any of the side effects at all! No dry eyes, no glare, no sensitivity to light!
Went to SNEC again to complete my LASIK of the left eye, accompanied by mum and dad. Wasn't feeling that scare already as I already know what to expect. Check the eye sight of my right eye by a nurse, and I've got 6/6 perfect vision!!! COOL!!!
After that, waited for Dr Ang to come, and was told to go in and put on all the surgery kit. Dr Ang checked my right eye 1st, and said that its healing perfectly. Then carried on with the surgery on my left eye.
Once again, went throught the same thing as yesterday. But dunno y, today when cutting the flap, i feel a little pain. Hmm..... Haha... As usual, Dr Ang was very assuring as he talks to me during the surgery, and continue to tell me that everything is doing great. Within 10 mins or less, everything was done. Vision was still abit cloudy, but i can tell the difference already! I can see really clearly without my specs!!! I'm so damn happy that I feel like crying on the spot! This feeling is wonderful. Dr Ang checked my eyes again, and said that the flap was closed perfectly and its a wonderful job done! Damn glad. Scheduled to see him again tomorrow morning to check on my eyes again.
Currently, my left eye is still feeling quite uncomfortable. Hopefully it will be like my right eye, heal by tomorrow morning. But actually, i can see quite clearly already, just that its a little cloudy. 6/6, here I come!!!

Lasik Surgery Part 1 - Right Eye (16/11/07)
Went to SNEC alone for my LASIK surgery. Its the right eye first. Was so freaking scare! My heart is like beating so fast, I thought it will just jump out from my mouth!!! Anyway, reach there around 2:30pm, paid the surgery fee, and was ask to wait outside the LASIK suite. Already got a few people waiting for their surgery, all by Dr Leonard Ang. He's really super popular. After a while, a nurse ask me in and check my particulars and ask a few questions. When inside, there is 2 people wearing those surgery outfit, one of them is waiting for her turn, and one has already finished her turn! OMG! Seeing them, makes me even more nervous and scare! Was asked to wait outside again...
Anyway, waited for damn long! While siting outside the LASIK suite, I can't really remind calm at all! My heart is still beating very very fast! I waited until about 3:30pm like that, and finally, was asked to go in and prepare for my surgery. I took out my specs, and at that moment, I know that it's gonna be the last time I am wearing that spec!! The nurse gave me the surgery outfit to put on, and the protective cover for my head and shoes. Then she clean my eyes with iodine, and applied some eye drops. I was SO DAMN NERVOUS CAN!!!!! ITS LIKE THE THING EVER WAITING FOR!!! Dr Ang came out of the surgery room, and greeted me and asked me to relax. I think he can tell that I was super tense! Then I was asked to go into the surgery room!!! The moment has come!
I was asked to lay down on the table, and a machine was placed over my face. A device was used to hold my eye lids. It's not uncomfortable at all as what other people had described. In fact, the eyes was numbed, and I can't feel a thing. Was asked to look at the red blinking light ahead of me. And then something is placed on my eyes and i can feel pressure like something sucking my eyeball, but trust me, it doesn't hurt abit... Then my vision went totally blank. After awhile, the thing was removed from my eyes, and Dr Ang told me that the flap had been created! Throughout the process, i cannot feel a thing at all! And Dr Ang is really caring and nice as he keeps on talking to me to calm me, and also telling me what he is about to do, and what i am going to expect. Then I can see him like flip something over, and my vision went totally blur. Was asked to focus on the centre of the red light, but its so blur, so just stare at the centre of that red spot of light. Then he told me that he's gonna start the laser, and assure me that it is totally painless. A while later, I can hear the sound of the laser, like a gun shooting like that, but of cos, not until that loud. Then i can smell like something burning like that. The whole laser took like less than a min. Then Dr Ang told me that its finish, and he will clean my eyes and close the flap. I can see him like taking something to brush my eye ball, but i cannot feel a thing at all. No feeling of eyeball being touched. Then he closed the flap, and I can see again. He used this tool to clean my eyes, and make sure the flap is close properly. I can see him keep brushing my eye ball, but again, cannot feel a thing at all! Then, its all done. He told me its complete and I can sit up now. WOW!!! Everything is done in like at most 10 mins! DAMN FAST!!!
I went out of the room, and the nurse put some eye drops for me, and give me my medications, and also explain to me how to use them. She also explained to me some post-surgery precautions. Then I was asked to wait outside until Dr Ang sees me again. Its so wonderful! I can see quite clearly, althought like very cloudy vision, but that's normal. The eye after the surgery looks quite red, and feels abit swollen, but no pain. Dr Ang checked my eye and told me that its wonderful. Perfect job done! Will be back tml to do the other eye. My mum came and bring me home.
Anyway, I didn't experience any sensitivity from sunlight. I didn't need to wear the sunglass they give as the sunlight didn't affect me at all. But the eye does feel very dry. Had to put the lubircating eye drop every 15 mins. Abit of halo, but can get use to. Everything feels great. Can't wait for both eyes to be clear! Now feels abit weird, like machiam wearing one side contact lens. Really looking forward to tml's surgery. Don't think will feel that scare anymore... NO FEELING AT ALL!!! Just that after the surgery, like a few hrs later, will start to feel abit of discomfort, like something is there. Then sometimes will have a little sharp pain like that, but is bearable.

Eve of LASIK Surgery (15/11/07)
I'm so nervous..... So excited..... So scared.... All at the same time!!!
No words can explain the mixed feelings I am having now.
Tomorrow will be the day I say GOODBYE to my specs and contact lens.

Don't think I can get to sleep tonight. Over excited.
Can't find anyone to talk to also.
Tomorrow going SNEC alone to do the surgery.
Want to find people follow me, but its a weekday, so no one will be free.
There's no one there to accompany me.
Was talking to my colleagues today during lunch, and they were asking me who is going with me. So I said I am going alone. They said if I got girlfriend, sure she will take leave or MC just to follow me, give me encouragement, support etc.
Kind of sad actually. Damn, I am going for this all alone...
Saturday doing the other eye. Mum's going with me, so not that bad. At least got someone to talk while waiting, to calm myself down.
Anyway, wish me luck. Will blog again after my surgery.

Gonna blog through my LASIK experience, so that people who wants to do LASIK too can know what to expect.
Pre-LASIK Evaluation (10/11/07)
Went to SNEC in the morning for my Pre-LASIK Evaluation to check if I am suitable to do LASIK. Was really excited about it.
First, they nurse will roughly check your eye sight. Then, they will use another machine to check the eye pressure or something. Air will be blown into your eyes. It feels like someone giving a quick blow into your eyes.
Next, they will check how much astig you've got. That's the normal machine when u go make a specs.
Then, i was brought to check my degree, like when making a spec. After that, they use another machine to check the thickness of the cornea i think. U r suppose to stare into this red light, then the machine will have flashes of lights shining. They will have like a 3D imagine of ur eye or something, and can tell how thick ur cornea is.
After that, they will put this eyedrop into both eyes, to dilate ur pupils. Its really quite uncomfortable. The eye drop has a little burning sensation when touches ur eyes. Then slowly, vision becomes a little blur, especially near vision. That's the most uncomfortable part of all the test. I wasn't even able to see the images on my handphone! Very blur. Then went to check eye degree again, and finally, get to see my doctor.
My doctor is Dr Leonard Ang, who is a consultant at SNEC and Asst. Professor at NUS. He's quite experience in this field. Really knowleadgable and explains everything to me clearly. He's really patience as althought he's having a lot of patients, he still spend time explaining to me. He also recommanded the type of surgery that is suitable for me. He's gonna perform the normal type for me, as my cornea is thick enough, and my degree is not super high.
Then they will bring you to book your appointment. My surgery is next Friday and Saturday. Really quite scare, but excited at the same time. Will blog again once i've done my surgery!!!

And yet, another CRAZY moment by me.....
Not really crazy lah, but its something that I had always wanted to do ever since it became available.
I am going for LASIK surgery!!! Going my the pre-LASIK evalution this Saturday, and the surgery will be next Friday and Saturday, one eye per day. Gonna do it at Singapore National Eye Centre, by a highly recommanded doctor, Dr Leonard Ang. He's really very good. I was going thru forums regarding experiences by LASIK patients, and saw that he's really good. So i decided to go ahead and email him. He replied so fast! And he even left his HP number. So I SMSed him, and he called me back like damn fast also! Really care for patient person. He explained lots of things to me, and even helped me push my appointment up. Very seldom will see such doctors that is really commited to patients, or even potential patients like me! Anyway, hope everything turns out fine. Am having mixed feelings. Excited and scared at the same time. Wish me luck!
Went to catch "Stardust" yesterday, and YES RIZLAN, this movie had finally reached our "pathetic shore"!!!! At first i thought its gonna be some serious movie, but turn out to be some lame crap.... Storyline not bad, but too much lameness in it already. I personally find it alrite only.

I did the craziest thing... I went to re-dye my hair..... Now its just one colour... And i hope it didn't look too beng anymore!!! Haha.... Did it near my house there... Only $30, and it turn out not bad..... I think I am crazy.....
