In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1

i miss my project :(
this is the backgrnd i used... took me 2 weeks to find it!

i'm so glad there is bio s and biomed... sort of a replacement for my proj... an avenue through which i can gain more bio-related knowledge.. what i love so much. and i'm not a "science nerd" as said by mr gary lim... he is just jealous that i can appreciate bio and he can't :p

The award ceremony for ssef and nsts was held on saturday. although i didn't win anything for nsts i'm truly grateful for having gotten into the finals... it is literally a dream come true- a dream i've had since sec 3, when i went for the same award ceremony as part of the audience. it has been my goal for so, so long. i really thank God for helping me to reach it. it is truly by God's grace that i was able to even get into the finals with my mediocre project.

Now i feel really sad. with the conclusion of ssef and nsts at the end of the ceremony, it seems as if srp, ssef and nsts have all ended. and of course they have but not in my heart, cliched as it may sound. i will always remember every wonderful moment spent during those events. the joy, the heartache, the elation, the tears, the headache, the sleepless nights, the worrying, the filling in of forms during lecture, the endless hours at the computer comparing sequences, the times at the nus medical library photocopying journal articles (Nature, Blood...), the first few weeks of the june hols last year devoted to my project, the communication probs with dr. sulo (india) and dr. ge (china), the trouble over the printing of the poster for ssef, the time it took (2 weeks) to find a suitable bkgrnd for the poster, the nerve-wrecking interviews (3 for ssef, 2 for nsts), the missing of BT 1 for ssef, the endless prayers after ssef and nsts judging the sheer number of ppl who prayed for me.... all this i will cherish forever.

i will never forget my first solo research project : Identification of Novel Endogenous Proteins For the Control of Angiogenesis- Based on Bioinformatics Support

they've really gone way too far. what started as a little good-natured teasing on and off has escalated into something of unimaginable scale. it is ridiculous! at the beginning ( if i remember correctly), it was only one the ppl in MAD. or perhaps its the person in MAD who started all this crap. with totally no basis for his claims as well. then he spread the rumour- and may i stress- rumour that is totally unfounded, out of MAD and to the guys of 78. and those guys happily spread it on to the pple i know, and they have been mercilessly going on and on about it. it would have been ok if that one guy stopped his crap and didn't spread such untruths. but no, he had to gossip. and as a result, even the ppl in ACJC and the bio teachers know abt it, no thanks to the guys of 78. they have seriously gone way too far, and they don't seem to realise it. And the whole point is that it isn't even true! deep down i'm sure they know its not true, but they still have to make such a big deal out of it- and inform everyone they meet about it too. now even the guys in my class whom i'm closest too are teasing me. It's ridiculous! can't they grow up? i could possibly bear with it if it were an on and off thing, but no, everytime i speak to any of those guys involved in spreading the untruths, they have to mention it. and it isn't even true!! if it were true, then i would be the one starting all the rumours- but it absolutely isn't! i have no idea what they're problem is, but they can't seem to get it through their thick skulls that what they are doing is in fact fabricating lies, untruths, and causing hurt. do they even know how it feels to be in my position? do they even care? i seriously doubt so.

Held the second round of Body Language auditions today. My junior class rox!!!!!!!!! they are so enthusiastic and united, unlike my class :( we are united but not that enthu. argh... so many things to do for MAD. the new choreographer is too retro, so we need to do sth about that. Then there is a prob with the second intakers too- they are currently not preparing for any dance at all, but they shouldn't be allowed to slack. then there are the first intakers who prefer jazz and are skipping the lessons for track and field, so they are a problematic bunch too... dunno what to do with them. And of course there is the Cultural Enrichment performance on 21 april, and our MAD item is screwed cos pple skip prac like nobody's business. And its not as if we are very prepared. Argh. wattheheck.. and i'm lagging for tutorials again and there is the Biomed selection test to study for in 4 days time, and a Bio presentation to prepare for. the Bio s ppl need to give a talk to the non-bio students, on the prospects for non-Bio students in bio-related fields. I agree with Ivan- nothing. The fact is, even though the non-Bio students are allowed to study Medicine in the university, it simply isn't practical. Bright exhwachong bio students are failing their tests in Med school- how much more so the non-bio students! They will have to mug nonstop, have no social life and no time to relax... what kind of prospect it that. but i guess if non-bio really want to be doctors, then they don't have a choice. therefore the moral of the story is: take Bio! cos Bio rox :)
