Lace Baby Blanket #AGNlaceblanket

Sometimes I look at patterns and think “If I can just get that first row, then everything else will fall into place.” Or, "If I could see how full pattern all comes together would be so helpful." Do you ever feel this way?

I love making baby blankets. That rhythmic flow of repeated stitches is so therapeutic, (like meditation for yarn artists). I've made a million of these Lace Baby Blankets (okay maybe a few less) for so many darling babes. The repeat on this pattern is so simple, it requires almost no stitch counting. It's simple and one you'll want to make over and over again.

Yarn: @michaelsstores Loops & Threads, Snuggly Wuggly Big! in Soft Lilac, White (14 oz/947 yards each)
Hook: @BoyeYarnCrafts Aluminum Size G-4.25MM

*note: Baby Sport Weight yarn (3-Light) with a G-4.25MM Hook works best, however, a Worsted Medium yarn (4-Medium) with an H-5.00MM Hook will work well too, the finished product is a little chunkier and slightly larger.

Ch - chain
Sts - stitches
Sc - single crochet
Dc - double crochet

Finished size about 35x38 inches

AGN Lace Baby Blanket

Row 1
Chain (ch) 133 (about 35 inches)
Row 1: Double Crochet (dc) in 4th chain from hook.
Dc in the next chain.
*Skip 2 chains.
In the next chain - dc 3, chain 1, dc 3 (all in the same chain).
Skip 2 chains.
Dc in each of the next three chains.
Repeat from the * ending the row with three dc in each of the last three chains.
Chain (ch)2, turn.
Row 2
Double Crochet (dc) in next two stitches.
*3 dc, chain, 3dc (in the ch space of the 6 dc in previous row).
Dc in each of the next three stitches.
Repeat from the * to finish row.
Chain (ch)2, turn.

Rows 3 - 65
Repeat Row 2.
*If you’d like stripes, change colors every 5 rows. See chart below.

Are you ready for the Lace Baby Blanket border? It’s so simple - just top and bottom. The three double crochets along each side add beautiful edging already. So, no need for a side border.

Border
Row 66 (top border): Chain (ch) 1, turn. Single Crochet (sc) in next two stitches. 7 dc (in the ch space of the 6 dc in previous row). Sc in next three stitches. Repeat across. Tie off at the end of row.

Row 0 (bottom border): Attach yarn to foundation chain tail. Pull through to make starting loop. Chain (ch) 1 Single Crochet (sc) in next two stitches. 7 dc (in the ch space of the 6 dc in previous row). Sc in next three stitches. Repeat across. Tie off at the end of row. Weave in ends.

There are so many color combo's and stripe variations you can use. I'd love to see your version of the AGN Lace Baby Blanket. Use the tag #agnlaceblanket in Instagram to share you’re pics! I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
