Pieces of the Penhaligon puzzle connect

We received a card yesterday from my Grandfather on my Dad's side, someone I haven't spent alot of time with over the past 35 years. He still talks about me wanting to be a taxi driver, and loving red shoes and red money, well I still want 2 of those things, give me a pair of red mary-janes and a few red backs and I'll be a happy girl. The most interesting thing he told me though was my Great Great Grandmothers name was Lily Penhaligon!! So without even realising it our daughter shares her name with a family member. Cool huh!!

Jesse, Amber and Dennis drove from Sydney last night to visit my little family. It was a really great day spent together, chatting, regaling each other with tall stories and of course oohing and ahhing over lovely Miss Lily!

Caine also popped his head in for a while, the first time ever that my siblings and I have all been together. Mum & Phoenix also visited, and there we all were....

Dennis brought with him some amazing gifts, one being a "massive" blue Buddha lamp and a box of natropathic oils & tinctures that I really need at the moment. It was really awesome to see everyone, and for my family to meet Stellan & Lily.

Lily is one week old

Yesterday was voting day as everyone knows, and yes Labour won...goodbye Puppet Master hello Kev. Not that I know much about politics, but Kev couldn't possibly be worse than Johnny now could he??

We walked down Chapel Street to St Kilda Primary School, which was the place to be. Live music, rides, cakes, music quizzes, kids, it was great. A real buzz to get out of our lovely little cocoon and enjoy some sunlight. At first the queue looked daunting, but moved along really quickly; although I still had enough time to scoff two snags!

Lily had her little eyes wide open whole time, not a usual occurrence. All the new smells and sounds must have been full on.

She is a week old now, and getting chubbier evreyday. She loves to eat, and sleep, for now anyway. Stell & I just love to smell her...heavenly.

So far no photos of Stell, Lily and I together have appeared on the blog, that's because there really aren't many, and any we have taken are very blurry...trying not to use flash on the bubba. But no doubt we will get the family snap up soon.

Sleep finally arrived for me yesterday, although only and hour it was marvelous. I hadn't slept since last Friday and was starting to think I never would again. But slowly slowly I am adjusting, I managed 3 whole hours last night...yay!

Stell is the perfect Dad, cooking fabulous meals, cleaning, washing, shopping, nappy patrol and much much more. It's like he has always been a father. We are both overjoyed with our superb daughter.

Our invaluable support network of friends and family have been great, thank you everyone for all of your beautiful energy & encouragement.
We are looking forward to Dan's B-day on Saturday, cricket, BBQ, friends, park, what more could we ask for. It is Lily's first party invite, and we are all looking forward to it.

Everything going well

We are all getting to know each other and love being a family already. Stellan & I can't remember life before Lily. We haven't had many visitors yet, just our lovely family...the grandparents have been wonderful. I'm sure they want to spend every minute gazing at her like we do.

Next week we will have our awesome friends come and meet Lily, you have all been so patient, but believe me it's worth the wait. Eve did sneak a visit today, and really enjoyed herself.

Bath time, feedtime, bedtime, here we come....

Crafty arvo

I spent the arvo making felt beaded Christmas decorations, it was fun to do someting crafty that could be finished in very little time. And also good to take my mind of waiting for baby...who hasn't made a move to come into the world just yet.

Back in town

Caine came and had dinner with Stell & I last night, was great to catch up and hear some of his highly entertaining travel tales...I hope he didn't give Stell to many crazy ideas!! I really hope he gets one of the jobs he has applied for in the last couple of weeks, it would be nice to have him around permanently for a while. And also very nice for his nephew and new little niece, who by the way is still sleeping in!!

Stell & Caine have alot of things in common, and probably could have talked games, computers etc all night, but I did remind them that Caine's Spanish girlfriend was home alone and maybe wondering when he was coming home.

We lent Caine the Jolie scooter to get around on, much better than it just sitting idle, so as I watched him hoon off into the balmy Melbourne night I hoped it would be the first of many dinners to come.

Bday dinner for Teegs

Tonight we celebrated Teegs Bday @ one of my favourite resturants, Chocolate Buddha, yummy Japanese food, mainly organic. We sat outside and enjoyed the balmy Melbourne evening full of dressy, messy race goers. Teegs was really excited about her bday present from her Mum, her very own worm farm for her vege patch. For some weird reason Stell thought that humans can drink the worm juice that comes out of the little tap!!!

It was really nice to sit back & relax with some good friends after our trip to Southland today where we spent 3 hours or more wandering around amongst the crowds. Stell went on a bit of a nesting shopping frenzy, christmas tree, printer, breville sandwich thingy& his much sort after
wii game Guitar Hero 3. Check out the rocking snaps!!

A day of dining

Grandma & I had lunch today at a great little cafe in Middle Park called mart, (tram backwards) which is built in one of the old railway stations on the St kilda train line, which is now the light rail. A really cute little place that looks onto some tennis courts and park land, so it sort of feels like your out of the city.

After I had taken Grandma home I dropped in to visit Ings & Ang, and was happy to find them at home. They offered to pop over tonight and cook dinner for Stell & I...how could I resist.

They knocked up a superb feast...Ingram's specialty roast pumpkin, chicken & bacon creamy pesto & Ange's colourful lentil, chic pea & coriander Moroccan salad, delicious! Followed by mango, strawberries and ice cream. Yum Yum!

Oh and Stell & Dave's Iron Maiden tix finally turned up...only 2 months late!!

Watchin JBT live on TV....

Just turned on the TV & was happily surprised by the beginning of a John Butler Trio concert filmed at Fed Square a few months ago, absolutely awesome. Really gives me a buzz to hear such great musicians playing together.

Today was Cup Day here in Melbourne, and Lilian & Roger had a great lunch & cup sweep, which Stell's horse (Efficient) swooped in and won at the last minute, stealing my horses thunder (Tungsten?). Lauraine, Grandma & Phoenix also came to lunch, it feels good for our two families to connect.

I drove over to Richmond around 1.30 (so missed the actual race) to have a session of acupuncture, which was great, energising and relaxing at the same time. I hope it stimulates baby to move on out of her hotel womb...not that she is really over due, I am just getting impatient to meet her!

Cake, candles & girls...

Just back from Phoenix's 6th Bday party which was, fun, loud and something that I will face in the future....lots of singing, dancing, games & cake. All the kids were really sweet, most from Phoenix's Primary school and a few other friends. Grandma was having a ball, with a few champagnes and a friendly parent or two to chat to & Mum also enjoyed herself, singing, dancing & generally entertaining the kids.

School play

Phoenix's school concert was really cute and the costumes were fantastic. It was great to see him up there with all the other kids singing and dancing like a mad mouse. Unfortunately the photos didn't turn out to well, a little dark & blurry, but his enthusiasm definitely shone. He is the mouse on the far right.

I had a day of indulgence yesterday, starting off with an hour long relaxation massage/shiatsu (I fell asleep on Friday & missed the appointment so rescheduled for Saturday) followed by a manicure & spa pedicure with Lilian. Very relaxing, so I guess I am all set to go in terms of readiness for baby. To all of you who have called in the last couple of days thanks for your lovely wishes, and yes you will all know when she arrives!

It was Gypsy & Brads Halloween party last night, which we decided not to go to, just in case, it felt better to be closer to home. I have seen a few snaps of Jo & Gypsy they both look stunning, not at all scary, just gorgeous as usual, looking forward to hearing all the goss.

I spent the evening eating pizza with my Grandma and watching a hysterical english movie "Death at a funeral", very funny. Funnily enough baby didn't come & I couldn't get to sleep until 7.30 this morning, so I guess I could have gone to the party after all...but there is always next year.

Stell went out to a Bucks party at the Crown, didn't get home till 7am but had a great time. He won 500 bux playing poker, so all those after work poker games have finally paid off!!

It's Phoenix's b-day party today with his friends from school, it's a rainy old day so the kids will be confined inside, but no doubt Mum has come up with lotsa party games for them. So I better hustle myself away from my PC and head over to the party.

Time marches on as we pull into the home stretch of 39 weeks...

What me counting??? Yes I am almost counting the moments until baby is out into the big wide world. Still having trouble sleeping, but am off to have a massage & some acupuncture tomorrow which will be great. The massage therapist I am going to caters specifically for very pregnant women, they even have custom massage table with divets for the big belly... mmmm lying on my stomach I may never want to leave!
