He is such a sweet boy and it is so fun to watch him learn and grow and mature! It was bitter sweet to know that it was my last kindergarten program to go to!

Grant's Concert
Grant's kindergarten class put on a really cute program. It was so fun to go and watch him and he did a great job!
ALFIE!!!!!
We went to Utah to see family and friends but also so I can see ALFIE BOE!!!! He is an amazingly talented singer! I have been a huge fan of his ever since I watched him in the 25th Anniversary Concert of Les Miserable. Since seeing him in that I have watched and listened to everything he has done. When his Face Book page announced he was going to be performing in the Christmas Concert with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir I knew I just HAD to go! I was so excited when I found out that my sister Hilary and her husband Chris could set me up with tickets!!!Paige, Hilary, Susanne and I went! Chris surprised me when I got there and told me that I was going to be able to go back stage and meet him! I couldn't believe it!!! I was going to meet Alfie Boe! When I walked into the room and saw him standing there I was so giddy that I started jumping up and down. I couldn't believe it and was so happy. I told him a was a HUGE fan and shook his hand. He offered to sing my CD for me! While he was signing it he said that he would sign both the cover and the CD in case I lost one! Hilary said, "Wow, it's like he knows you!" We talked for a few minutes and then left. I didn't want to intrude and wanted to be polite, but now I wish I would have tried to talk to him more!
The concert was amazing and I bawled when he sang Bring Him Home! I can't wait until the DVD of the concert comes out next year! It was such an amazing opportunity and one I will NEVER forget!
Utah Trip
So we decided to jet for Utah for a short trip! We had a great time seeing everyone, even though it was a very short trip.
It was great to see my best friend Susanne and her sweet family! I have missed her so much over the last few years and loved seeing her new home!
Then we went and saw my sister Hilary. I love being with her. She makes me so happy and we have so much fun together. We sat in bed and laughed until we cried. I love her sweet boys and wish we could have spent more time together!
I took the kids to Temple Square! They really liked seeing everything in the visitors center and we had a lot of fun walking around.
We also went to Matt's brother's house. We had fun seeing Mike and Soni and their kids. Matt worked on his brother's car and they had a lot of fun together. It snowed a TON while we were there and the kids had a blast playing in the snow!

November!
Matt and I got the amazing opportunity to go to Pismo Beach for 4 days. He had a work convention and I was able to tag along. We had a fabulous hotel, right on the beach! We ate a bunch of delicious meals and had a great time! I slept in a few days and went window shopping while Matt was at the convention meetings. It was so good to get away for a few days!
Unfortunately, we got the heart breaking news that my nephew Ryder also has Leukodystrophy. This has been a horrible blow to everyone in our family. Luckily, sweet Ryder has NO symptoms yet and we hope that will be the case for a long time yet. We pray for Ryder and Carter every day and have great faith and hope that they will be able to live full and exciting lives.
Travis's family came to visit for Thanksgiving. We had a really fun time together! We went to the park, played football and basketball, and just hung out and "visited". It is always great to be with family, especially during the holidays.
Halloween 2012
We had a great Halloween! Paige was a clown and Mitchell a fisherman who was attacked by a shark. Harry was a ninja and Grant was a Power Ranger. We went trick-or-treating with friends on Halloween night and went to a fun church party.

4.0!
Paige just finished her first semester of 8th grade!
She got a 4.0. She even got an A+ in History. Her teacher said she earned 100.5 percent!
She got all "Os" (outstanding) in ALL her classes for Citizenship and Work Ethic.
And one of her teachers put on her report card that "Paige is positive role model to all her classmates."
I am so proud of her and all the hard work she puts into her schooling!

Mitchells' Big Day!
Peter Pan
Paige has been working so hard on her Peter Pan play. Only one more week until opening night. She is so very excited and has been practicing her lines and her songs daily. I am so proud of her and excited to go watch the play!
Grant turns 5!
I can't believe Grant is 5! He had a friends birthday party and had so much fun. He loves his friends!
Mimi and Papa gave him this tent and he just HAD to sleep in it that night!
The only sad part of the day was when we told him that he couldn't go to school the next day. We have always told him he was going to start school when he was 5 and he thought the next day he was going to start school for sure! Poor guys was so sad to find out he had to wait 4 more months to start school.

Ironic!
Our family is studying the D&C right now. Tonight we read about Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery getting the Priesthood from John the Baptist first and then later from Peter, James and John.
When I asked Mitchell which priesthood he was going to get next year when he turned 12 he proudly said, "I'm going to get the Ironic Priesthood!"
After laughing for a long time I tried to tell him that it was not the Ironic priesthood but the Aaronic Priesthood. He thought it was funny and assumed that they were always saying the Ironic priesthood because it wasn't the real thing....that the Melchizedek Priesthood was the real priesthood.
It is funny how you misinterpret things when you don't have the whole information!

Harry's journal
I thought I would copy a page from Harry's journal that he keeps at school. He cracks me up!
I have lots of friends. My friends are nice. My friends are Josh, Jesse Landon and Matthew F. They are the best. They all like sports. The Titanic is cool. The solar system is cool. I like math. Math is easy. My brothers Link game is cool. I think Harrison is a cool name. I went hiking in Feb. I was sick in Feb. I like Magic tree House books. I like summer. I have lots of friends. I don't have a kite. My lucky number is 8. I have a DSi. I want a 3DS.

Protesters
The kids were bored and got creative. They decided to start protesting causes they believe in. They made signs and put them on sticks and then started marching up and down the hall ways chanting.
Mitchell's sign: Sick of BYU. Boycott all things BYU!
Harry's sign: I demand more play dates with Josh and that I can play Titan Quest on the computer.
Grant's sign: Booo Paige. I am on Team Mitchell.
They crack me up!

Perspective!
I have been young women’s president in our ward for five years. This summer I will have been in our ward's YW presidency for seven years!
Over the last 3 or 4 years I have hit a brick wall so many times. I just wanted to throw my hands up and say, "I can't do it any more!" I have been frustrated, tired, and burnt-out so many times. I think I have gone through these hard times because there was no end in site. My bishopric had hinted to me several times that they were not releasing me any time soon and so I didn't know how long my calling was going to go on. This was frustrating for me! I felt like I had done New Beginnings, YW in Excellence, firesides etc. so many times that I had nothing left to give. I felt like I had told every story I could think of and some stories more than once! I would get so frustrated with all the many problems that come from being in charge of 20 plus girls.
But, I usually just put my head down, vented to Matt, kept praying and I would always find my second wind and get my energy and excitement back! I am so glad and thankful that I never gave up on my calling or myself.
We are getting a new bishopric this fall and so I know that means that I will be released around the same time. When I very first heard this information, I was a bit relieved to at long last know my end date. I knew that I could pace myself and know how much more was expected of me.
However, since those initial feeling I have become very sentimental about my calling. On the way home from mutual last night I started crying, thinking about how much I am going to miss it! I now know that I am going to feel a huge loss and emptiness when I am released from my calling.
I love my girls! I love how much happiness they bring me. I never laugh as I do when I am with them. They bring me so much entertainment and joy. Every week, no matter what we do, they have fun and they lighten my heart. I am not sure that they would agree, but they have become a huge part of my life and I like to think I am a huge part of theirs. I know whom they have a crush on, I know what they are struggling with in their life, I know what their hopes and dreams are. I know who they are!
When I think of not being apart of that anymore I feel a huge loss and sadness. I really am going to miss them and being a part of their life. I am going to miss just hanging out with them and teasing them and listening to them. I tend to be a serious or sober person. I am not a goofy or free spirit. And yet, these girls make me smile! They make me not take things so serious. They bring and merriment into my life!
I can never repay them for the years of happiness they have brought me. They can never really know how much they have taught me and how much I have grown as a person because of them.
Who knows what is in store for me when this calling is over. But I am going to enjoy these next 7 months or so! I am going to soak up their sunshine and exuberance! I am going to try to reach out to the ones that have held back. I am going to give my all and do my best. I wont waste a single chance to do what my Heavenly Father wants me to do these last few months!

Buzz Cut Time!
Grant loves to do his hair. He will spend hours in the bathroom doing it! Well, a few days ago he came out of the bathroom looking like this:
I know I am not supposed to laugh when you child does something naughty but I just couldn't help myself! I laughed for a good 10 minutes before I could pull myself together to scold him. The funny thing is that Paige, Mitchell and Harry never cut their own hair. I thought Grant was old enough that I would be able to brag forever about how none of my kids did such a dreadful thing. I guess Grant didn't want me to have that privilege so he whacked off a good chunk of his hair!
Walking into Super Cuts was interesting! They all laughed and then reassured me that they see this thing all the time. Apparently, he put the scissors flat on his head when he decided to give himself a haircut. So, she had to give him a short buzz cut to hide it. Thank goodness he is a boy!

LIFE
We have been having a lot of fun playing the game LIFE! The kids love it. They have fun naming their children, getting excited about landing certain jobs and groaning loudly when they have to pay taxes or loose their job. Mitchell has named his boy Ranger and his girl Primrose. Paige has named her 3 boys River, Stone and Forrest. Harry named his boy Harrison Jr, and his 2 girls Emma and Mary.I love spending time with my family and building these memories.
Mitchell got his report card today and is doing great in school! His teacher had this to say about Mitchell:
Mitchell continues to be a delight in class. his inquisitive mind makes our class discussions very enjoyable and academic. Mitchell has also been consistently responsible in keeping up with all of his assignments and far exceeds the reading requirements.

Hiking
For President's Day we went hiking with some friends!

We had a great time and went to one of our favorite places. The Pinnacles! It was Matt's birthday and we had a lot of fun being with our family and friends (the Bellolis and the "other" Days). We hiked for a really long time but it was a beautiful day and the kids loved it.

Watch out world!
Paige is so much fun and can be goofy at times. Yet, whenever she needs to be she is always very responsible and mature. She really knows what she likes and dislikes and stays true to herself. The thing I admire most about her is that she really knows how to pick good friends. They are all really good girls who are kind, smart and are good influences. I can't wait to see the woman she
becomes!

Where has the time gone?
This year for Thanksgiving Travis and his family came to visit. We had a blast as usual. We let the kids swim in the spa, played games, donated a bunch of turkey's to the local homeless shelter, laughed and had a great time.
In the middle of December Matt's sister Megan got married. Matt's two brothers Mike and Robby came into town with Mike's family and we were able to spend a lot of time with them. We played Settlers, went to San Fransisco and the beach and laughed until our sides hurt. Megan's wedding was beautiful and we were so pleased to be there. Matt worked hard putting up a false ceiling for Megan's reception that looked beautiful and Grant had a blast showing off all this break dancing moves that night.
Christmas was different this year. All the kids wanted electronics. It's weird not buying all the little toys for them anymore. Well, Grant got some toys. Paige got her first phone, Mitchell the new Zelda game and the boys both got a DS. Mimi, Papa, Nana and Papa Paul all came over. We played games (especially Paige's Just Dance game) and ate and had a great time. Christmas was on a Sunday this year so we went to church and had a wonderful day!
The 3 older kids got Mythbuster tickets from my parents this year. They went to the Gallo Center and watched the two guys from Mythbusters put on a presentation. When they came home they were so worked up and excited that they couldn't stop talking about it. It was so much fun for them!Matt's Grandma Nita passed away and one of the things he got from her was the Monopoly game he grew up with. He has a lot of memories playing on that game board with his brothers while staying at his Grandma's house. We also got the game Settlers and Ticket to Ride this Christmas. So our family has been having a lot of fun playing board games recently. The kids are old enough to really play and have fun.
This week the kids had the day off of school so Matt took the day off too. We went bowling in the morning and then came home and all played Monopoly together. As I was sitting around the game laughing with all my family I thought about how lucky I am to have such a great life. My kids are all thriving and happy and so much fun to be around. I have a husband who loves us all. I felt so much love and contentment in that moment. It's moments like that where I sit back and wonder how I have everything I could ever want in my life.

Catching up!
The last few weeks have been hectic as I have been trying to play catch up since coming back from my trip. (note to self: I kept a journal while in SA so refer to that to see how my trip went)
The other day Grant and I made pomegranate jelly. He had a lot of fun helping me seed the pomegranates. It was a lot of work, but the jelly is so yummy and they turned out so cute that I am thinking about making another batch already!
Right after I got back it was Halloween. The kids had a great time as always. Matt made Mitchell's Lego costume this year and I sewed Harry's Link (Zelda) costume.

We had our Young Womens Sacrament meeting last Sunday. Paige sang a duet with Abbey Horan. She did such a great job and sounded beautiful!

Little testimonies growing strong!
Yesterday it started to rain like crazy! I'm talking Cats 'n Dogs kind of rain. We were all watching the rain come down out the front door when we started to hear sirens. I told the kids that they were probably for car accidents that were caused by the heavy rain. Mitchell was quiet for awhile and then said, "Mom I think we need to pray for Daddy so he can come home safely." Matt was on his way home from work and Mitchell was obviously worried about him. I told him he was right for wanting to pray when you are worried about someone. So the kids and I prayed a quick prayer that Dad, Papa and Uncle Tony would all arrive home safely from work that night. It's moments like this that make you realize that everything you are doing is worth it. Watching Mitchell's testimony grow and observing him feel the spirit and act on it brings me more happiness that I could ever explain.
Tonight at dinner we sat around the table and Paige and Mitchell both expressed their frustration with hearing so much swearing and inappropriate talk at school. They were both seeking some guidance on how to deal with this situation. We talked to them about the importance of choosing good friends and surrounding themselves as much as possible with those who uphold their same standards. I also talked to them about how they can feel that using that kind of language is offensive to their spirits and the importance of not following those who are negative influences. I think it is so important that they learn the skills they need to be IN the world and be able to associate with all kinds of people while at the same time keeping their own personal standards high. They are both growing up so fast and I am really proud of the people they are starting to become.

Countdown to Africa!
10 more days until I leave for my trip to Africa! I am fluctuating between anxiety, excitement and then forgetting about all about it; only to repeat the process. I have been packing, and buying and planning. This is half the fun of a trip I think.
We are all doing well. Staying busy, busy, busy with school and life. Mitchell quit football (It's a long story that I don't feel like writing out but he just wasn't happy) but he is going to be starting basketball instead soon. He is also playing the clarinet and loving that. He was chosen as student of the month this month. I have received two phone calls from his teacher this year. He just wanted to tell me how much he is enjoying having Mitchell in his class and what a great job he is doing. Mitchell is a great student and I am very proud of him.
Paige is adjusting nicely to Jr. High. The homework is overwhelming sometimes. However she has found a group of really good friends and is happy. She is so tall now that we often get comments about how she is going to pass me soon. She is in Yearbook club and might be trying out for basketball next week.
Harry is loving 1st grade. His reading is incredible and is at least a 3rd grade level. He really wanted to be Link (the guy from Zelda) for Halloween so I have been busy sewing away his costume.

Grant is a rock star when it comes to his thumb. He totally quit and never uses it. His eye is still really bad at crossing and I think we might end up having surgery. He is getting so big and I often have to stop and realize that I don't have a little kid anymore. He loves his friends and they are all sweet girls.

Breaking News!
I was finally able to bribe him into trying to give up his thumb by offering a new Wii game to him that he really wanted. He struggled a lot the first couple of days and it was rough. We used Mavala Stop nail polish. It is a clear nail polish that I put on his thumb and first finger. Without thinking he would put his thumb in his mouth and then start to gag and cough (the bitter nail polish really does taste horrible and stays in your mouth until you eat or d
rink something). But after a few days he was doing it less and less often and now has stopped completely. To be honest I thought it would take longer for him to break the habit because it was so unconscious of him. If you know Grant you know how attached he was to his thumb so I am so proud of him and so happy the Mavala worked. (I bought it off of Amazon).

They were buried deep in the couch. We pulled off the bottom lining and found them wedge in the underside. Thank goodness!

FUMI 2011
I posted a link to the movie I made for our family reunion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sCbgC-wKo4).
But I just wanted to write on here what a great time we had with all our friends and family. We all had a blast being together. The cousins love being with each other and having fun running around and screaming. We can't wait until the next one!

1st Day of School!
Harry had a bloody nose so he had to go to the nurse and get a new shirt. But he has a lot of friends in his class so I am excited for him.
When Mitchell got into the car and I asked him if he liked his new teacher he told me, "Yes! He is very well organized!" I guess that is important to him. LOL
Paige started Jr High! I can't believe it. She now has gym (with a locker) a bunch of new teachers and classrooms. It's all been very new, exciting and a little anxiety inducing. But she came home very happy with the day and really loves her math/science teacher. I think we are going to have a great year!

Swimming!
Grant has offically beome an indepenant swimmer! He has been like a fish in the water the last few weeks and is fearless. He can swim from one side of the pool to the other without any help. Harry does not like this very much because he is still a little timid of the water and keeps his arm floties on but he will get there soon. My sister Hilary and her boys are here in CA and we have been having a lot of fun just hanging out together.

Miss Crafty
I love how crafty and fun Paige is. She learned how to crochet out of garbage bags that you get from the grocery store. She made herself a tote to go to the beach. She is so creative!

Funny!
When I asked Harry if God has ever answered one of his prayers: Ummm, I have never heard his voice before so I don't know if he has said anything to me.
While I was helping Grant say his prayers: No, I'm not saying that. I'm not going to ask him to help me stop sucking my thumb cause I'm not ready to stop.
When talking to Harry about braces: I can't wait until I get braces so my teeth stop falling out. (He thought all teenagers got braces because that is how your teeth became permanent).

Update
It's been a long time since I have posted anything. We have been having a nice, lazy summer and I just kept putting it off. Sorry!
Paige: Paige had a great time at girls camp. She did great and met a lot of friends from the stake her age. She has also finished up swimming. She had a great year and worked hard all summer. It is something she loves and I think she will stick with it for a long time.
Harrison: Harry has had so much fun reading this summer. He has read a bunch of Pokemon little chapter books and it so proud of himself. He is really excited to start school again and go ALL day like Paige and Mitchell. He has become more independent this summer and doing more and more for himself.

Grant: Grant is adjusting well to getting glasses. I am concerned because his left eye is still crossing in so we will be heading back to the dr. He can see so much better with them and looks super cute too!
All of my laurels that I have been super close with are leaving for college. I
We went camping with the Belloli family for 4th of July. We had a great time with them.
I have bought my tickets to go to South Africa with my dad in October and I am very excited about going. I have sighted in my gun a few times and hope to go again this weekend.

Girls Camp!
My Paige is all packed and ready to go to girls camp. This is her first year! She is going to be gone for a whole week. She is so excited. I can't stop nagging her, trying to remind her to do this or don't do that. I hope she has as much fun as I did when I went to camp.

Our Summer Walking Log
I'll admit it. My kids have a lot of screen time during the summer. I try to get them playing outside or go to the park but the reality is that they end up watching their fair share of tv/wii/computer.
We do a reading log every summer (provided by our local library) and it is great. The kids do read a lot during the summer. But this gave me the idea of a walking/running log.
Paige has started running a little bit in the evenings to help build up her endurance for swimming. So while I was outside walking/running with her, the other kids ended up joining us and we all walked around the block quite a few times. So as a family we decided that we would start a running/walking log. They are all so excited about this!
Every time one of us walks around our block (it's a 1/4 mile) we can fill in a box on our Log. We all can contribute to the log at any time but walking as a family at night will help fill it up faster.
After we fill in 300 boxes then we will have our reward!
The kids decided they want to build a fire in the backyard and make S'mores. (We don't have a fire pit or anything so this should be interesting!!!) I will let you guys know in a few days how it is going.

Jeffery R Holland's book
For Mother's Day Matt gave me Jeffery R. Hollands new book. I love Elder Holland. He is my favorite speaker to listen to. He has the talent of making you feel like he is speaking directly to you. I love his new book! It is filled with quotes from all of his talks. This is my favorite one so far:
Jesus has chosen, even in a resurrected, otherwise perfected body, to retain for the benefit of his disciples the wounds in his hands and in his feet and in his side. Signs, if you will, that painful things happen even to the pure and the perfect; sings, if you will, that pain in this world is not evidence that God doesn't love you; signs if you will, that problems pass and happiness can be ours.

Visiting the Listons
A few weeks ago for spring break we went up and visited Travis and his family. The kids had a great time! We loved chilling with them and spending Easter together. Megan made yummy food, we went hiking, and the kids bounced on the trampoline for hours on end.

Laurel Time!

I took 5 of my laurels camping to the beach last weekend. It was a trip I will never forget. I love them all so much and treasure my memories with them. All 5 are graduating this month and I will miss them so much!
