Our little peanut didn’t fit in any of the outfits I brought to the hospital so we opted for a onesie and bundled her up with extra blankets. We even thought about asking the nurses if we could buy the preemie outfit she’d been wearing since we knew nothing would fit at home either.
Because of her high bilirubin levels, Emma got to having her own tanning bed for the first four days we were home. We were told that she had to be under the lights all day unless she needed to eat or get changed. All our arms were aching to hold our sweet little girl, especially Grandma’s. She had her levels tested again at the hospital after two days and then the doctor had us test them again after 4 days. Poor girl had her feet pricked and blood squeezed out so many times. Hearing her little cry was heart breaking.
She was NOT a fan of her “bili-bed” until we made a warm little cocoon with blankets. Lucky for Matt and I, we had the world’s brightest nightlight for three days :) Our room seemed super dark once the bed was taken back.
We were all so grateful to have my parents come stay with us for 2 weeks. Lily especially loved having someone to play with. She and “Pa” were best buds in the mornings. She wouldn’t let anyone else get her out of bed.
Showing more and more interest in her baby sister each day. Lily has done pretty well with the adjustment to having a baby sister. Still working on patience when Mom can’t get something for her as quickly as she’d like. At first she pretty much ignored Emma and didn’t want much to do with me either.
Sponge Baths
NOT a fan! Lily LOVES helping with bath time (and getting EVERYTHING soaked in the process)
