We participated in the South Jordan Country Fest this year by doing the 1-mile walk with Mom and Dad Chapman.
Ann and Brian, along with some of Brian's fam ran in the 5k. It was nice to get out in the fresh air and exercise at
6:00 in the morning. The 5k runners said they had bugs flying in their faces closer to the river. I'm glad we didn't have to deal with that! After the walk, we got some AWESOME t-shirts and other free stuff.
Matt had to go back to the house to study for his Dental Boards while I went to the parade with some of his family and the Loftus fam.We got tons of free stuff thrown at us including frisbees, styrofoam rockets, bottled water, restaraunt coupons, and lots of candy. Elise loved chewing on all the wrapped candy.
When Matt had finished studying for the day, we went to the Country Fest. We walked around to all the vending booths listening to the live band playing in the background. Many of the booths were devoted to home decor which we took advantage of and bought a wooden board painted with "Family; Live Laugh Love Smile" and a wooden painted picture frame with "Family." T
hey both look great in our apartment. We ate dinner from two of the vendors. Matt and Tom ate ribs and Nina and I ate cheese steak sandwiches. After we ate we went to a booth where a woman was selling framed art. If you know us, we have a soft spot for large framed art and one print was calling my name. We have wanted a picture of the Salt Lake Temple for a long time. The one we had just wasn't right. But this one was perfect. It's a very modern view of the temple. I'd never seen anything quite like it before. I was a little undecided on whether it was in our budget or not so we left the Country Fest to think it over.
The next day Matt studied for a few hours in the morning and I kept thinking that I REALLY wanted that temple picture so we hurried over the the fair just in time. The woman said that another couple had come very close to buying the picture and had just left. We were pretty lucky. It made it to our apartment unharmed a week after we arrived back in Richmond and now hangs beautifully in our den.
We left the Country Fest and ate dinner with Matt's Fam and went to watch the fireworks from a nearby "park." But not before Matt helped his Dad with resealing their wooden garden bench.
