Happy New Year!

AYay! This side of the earth is going to usher in the New Year in about 6 hours time! So I shall skip to the chase and answer this new year's quiz thingyummy that I copied from Ian's blog who copied it from another friend!

1. What did you do in 2005 that you’d never done before? Studied! Definitely! And a few other things that I cant say ;)

7. What dates from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? The term "dates" is ambiguous... If its THOSE kind of dates, I obviously cant say... But if its x/y/2005 dates, then I also cant say since there were too many to list here... I think I posted about some of the more memorable stuff that happened this year...

34. What kept you sane? I'm sane myself... :P

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Kelly Clarkson? Dunno... Don't really care about celebrities or fame...

36. What political issue stirred you the most? hah! I dont read newspapers! Ignorance is bliss :P But being a gamer, it has to be the Jack Thompson and all the suings and sh!t going on around him...

37. Who did you miss? Someone whom I, sadly, shall not name...

38. Who was the best new person you met? Ditto... Gosh, so much to say about that person but I cant say it here...

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005. Be nice :) Edit - Another song's lyrics that I wanna quote! Thankful - Kelly Clarkson

"That I’m thankful
For the blessing
And the lessons that I’ve learned with you
By my sideT
hat I’m thankful so thankful for the love
That you keep bringing in my life
In my life
Thankful so thankful"

Learned to be thankful and appreciate whatever I have... You wont miss it (belonging or person or whatever) until its gone....

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. Allow me to consult iTunes *searches through library* Hmm...... Hawww..... HAWRRRR...... Huhhh..... EUREKA! I've got it! "Have a SUPERHAPPYFUNTIME CHRISTMAS!!!" Ok no, that was just unrelated and random.... Umm...

My playlist is on random and the song "Who knows - Avril Lavigne" just played.... I guess it has to be the lyrics:

I think there's something more
Life's worth living for

Who knows what could happen
Do what you do
Just keep on laughing
One thing's true
There's always a brand new day
I'm gonna live today like it's my last day

......

So you go and make it happen
Do your best
Just keep on laughing
I'm telling you
There's always a brand new day

YES! Live everyday like its your last day! Keep laughing (or smiling)! Be happy! Be nice! Life is random so just keep on smiling! :) :) :) :) :) :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Have a safe and happy 2006! May all your dreams come true! Bla bla bla bla bla.... :P

DotA?

Just went to make my IC and take those passport photos. ZOMG! I looked like... terrible! Ok nevermind... It's just a still picture on this card that doesnt really serve much purpose.... At least IMO... And no, I'm not gonna show anyone my IC... Urgh, my brother wanted me to stick my tongue out or make some silly grin and do silly poses which I shant elaborate on...

ANYWAY, why are the DotA sites down!?!?!? Urgh!!!! And why is dota-allstars called dota-allstars? The "allstars" seems very redundant to me... I dont get it... At least www.dotaportal.com sounds better.... It makes sense... Whats with "ALLSTARS"??!?!?! Sounds like a DotA basketball team or something... Hahahha! *Imagines Crystal Maiden Frostbiting everyone in their tracks and proceeds to slam dunk* and... *Imagines Chen casting Pentinence and "persuading" the other team*... Then... *Imagines players buying Blink Dagger and Lothar's to Wind Walk and Blink around the court! "Lina's DISAPPEARED in a WIND WALK! Oh oh! She's going for gold! She SHOOTS! And! Oh whats that!? Sven just BLINKED and slammed the ball away! Oh she's really pissed now... BAM! *Laguna blade, dagon* MONSTER KILL!!!!! HOLY SH!T!!!!!*

Ok, thats really really lame... Pfft...

EDIT - I'm feeling very random now yeah... I've been wondering... Why are blondes stereotyped as dumb? I don't think blondes are dumb at all... Maybe they're naturally beautiful and people are just jealous so they label them as bimbos... I met these two blonde (girls) in SMUNC and they werent dumb at all!!!! Germany (one of them) made some really good points and rebuttals, and Sudan (the other one) was quite good too (well, compared to me anyway)... They werent like dumb or vain or ditzy or whatever blondes are stereotyped for... They were quite intellectucal actually.... Hmm... So yeah, NOT ALL DUMBS ARE BLONDE!!! It's what Hollywood's made of them... Like Paris Hilton...

Oh yes, I think pimps are stereotyped too... Wheneve someone says "pimp", I'll think of ALI G (or Sean Paul), with all that bling bling, gold rings and whatever, and that Jamaican accent (YA MAHN!!!). Ack, just go watch his music videos, you get the idea... Haha, so funny... "WE BE TRIPPIN' WES SIDE! Yo Dawg! Ya dig it? Chill wit' mah homies..." AHAHAHHAHAH... I'm crazy...

EDIT 2 - Oh yay! I just skipped dinner! Thanks to my wonderful screwed up body clock :) Sleep late and waking up early makes you lose your appetite! Another great dieting tip from me :)

27 December 2005

I sure got what I want for Christmas/Bday

Hmm, Christmas was over too soon.... But nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed it and could say it was the best Christmas I've ever had, not because of the presents but something else...

Christmas "morning" was really unique playing DotA with Cherie and Justin, 3v5 Insane AI. We totally OMGWTFPWNED them :) But there were once or twice where we died when the AI ganged us.... They're really dumb though...

Wow... How do I put this? Hmmm...

THANK YOU:
1) Ian for the nice words on the small Christmas card :)

2) Justin for the CANDY! It was really good!

3) Kelly for the brownie!

3) Zhiheng for the Christmas card and welcoming me into the CG

4) Jon Tang for the Christmas card! I didnt quite get the "roast turkey" joke though...

5) EVERYONE ELSE who, did or did not, wish me Merry Christmas (it didnt quite matter :))

6) And the 8 of us who WALKED to Parkway, despite the incredibly warm and humid weather, and had Burger King there then played really strange and funny "who died?" games. And the front four (including Ian andYihui), I knew what you guys were up to....

Managed to nap for an hour or two before going to my relative's place for another Christmas gathering. Mmm, plenty of food and wine... I drank so much wine I got awfully red and really really warm.... Hahaha, WHEEEEEE! Also spent the whole time SMSing someone :)

Much thanks to the two people who personally called to wish me Happy Birthday at 12midnight after that :) It was really much appreciated!

Hmm, presents-wise, I got the greatest present from someone whom I cant name due to certain circumstances and it is with much regret that we are unable to do so (bla bla bla... you know the rest). A lot of my people gave me T-shirts (only 2 were black!) and now I cant find the other black one!!! Also got an Xbox game! My aunt gave me the receipt to exchange it if I already had it, which I did yesterday... But everything else could not compare to that "greatest present" mentioned at the start of this paragraph :) My bro got a lot of toys and games... No fair! :P

Went to Bibi and Baba yesterday to buy uniform. Did I mention how much I dislike going there...? Without fail, EVERY YEAR (mostly at this period), I'll ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS meet school people... Not that there's anything wrong with that but, I just dont like it in that context...

Then after that, we went to Tampines mall to change the Star Wars Battlefront II (Xbox), which my aunt gave me, for Battlefield 2: Modern Combat at "The Gaming World"... Their Xbox catalogue SUCKED!!!! I was intending to get Far Cry Instincts but they said they were out of stock... Bleahh... The only two games there worth nothing is Forza Motorsport and BF2: MC... I think I saw Indigo Prophecy too but I dunno, I wanted a shooter for the Xbox... They also had Metal Gear Acid 2 for the PSP! But since I dont play my PSP and find card-based, turn-based strategy Metal Gear games awkward, I passed... Forza Motorsport's a racing sim... I only appreciate racing games on portables since they're faster paced and shorter (Wipeout Pure!); essential for playing on the go...

I also didnt really care about my Xbox anymore, haha... I really wanted a game that was easy to pick up and play for short and quick bursts... BF2 fits that description in sorts but it was missing that "Instant Action" mode... I'm not gonna go in detail here... I just didnt really care...

Went to the Challenger next to the Tampines MRT and my mom got me a webcam, iPod nano rubber skin and Civilizations IV. The only thing that I havent used/installed is Civ IV... I hear its really addictive and makes you lose sleep, even though I dont appreciate its genre of gameplay, so I havent installed it. The manual is REALLY thick... Hmm... Who needs to play Civ IV late into the night and lose sleep when its already happening to me and no, its not a game... :)

Reality check: One week to back-to-school... Better start sleeping early!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT - Yay! I got that right on time!!!!!

Merry Christmas, HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!

Just sent Christmas greetings to everyone via SMS, MSN and tagging on blogs!

Ok, I've realised the meaning of Christmas has pretty much changed... The true meaning's like dead... To most of us, its just about giving, and mostly receiving, presents; but the true reason for celebrating Christmas is that Jesus Christ was born on this day (although this isnt historically accurate or clear) and that He, later, died on the cross... Now its a time for Santa Claus, presents under the Christmas tree, candy canes and whatever...

A lot's changed this year for me... Christmas used to be a time for presents when I was younger... Well this year, I didnt have a wishlist (omg, check out that long wishlist from last year!) and only wanted that ONE thing... Hmm, whether I got it is for me to know and for you to find out :)

Ok whatever, ENJOY YOUR CHRISTMAS! Once again, have a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New YEAR!

23 December 2005

Fa la la la! La la la!

Christmas is here in 3 days... We're on the eve of the eve of Christmas and very soon, it'll be New Year and time to go to school :'( But whatever, here's an interesting site I found about Christmas - http://www.snopes.com/holidays/christmas/christmas.asp

Headache...

I've got an annoying headache and nothing to blog about... This is a just reminder that I'm still alive! HELL O!!!!

Ok fine, I decided to blog instead!

First things first:

Yay! Another birthday shoutout! Happy Birthday Mervin! Don't wish for anything WoW :) Today's Mervin's birthday (21st Dec) and the day before yesterday was Matt's birthday! But he's in Taiwan I think... Nevertheless, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Matt and Merv! "M2M"!!!

So quite a bunch of things happened the last few days...

Saturday was CELL! Went all the way to Kembangan (gosh, I've NEVER ever been there or anywhere else that far before) to Jon Tang's house for cell... We played Chinese Checkers as an "icebreaker" and I finished 3rd (out of 6)! Not to bad considering I've NEVER EVER EVER (x1000) played Chinese Checker's before... Beginner's luck or gamer's 1337ness, you decide :) We ordered KFC for dinner and it was all good :) Then we had Praise and Worship and I didnt know how to sing all the songs Zhi chose... And finally: Word, where we learnt that our righteousness is in Christ Himself! Hmm, we prayed for everyone and I was the one with the least to pray for... Just thank God that I'm so carefree and life is "peachy" (as they put it)... Wow, the others had so many things, I really ought to appreciate my holidays better (something which Clifford further stressed upon just now)... I reached home at around 11.30pm!

For sunday, I didnt go to church because my family went to Malacca... I, of course, chose not to go... Holidays are a waste of time I think... And it's Malacca anyway, why bother... My parents said it was for my brother... Heard he was rather amused when he saw a giraffe -.-' Pitiful indeed... Um yeah, they're back already...

In the afternoon, my aunt/uncle brought me out for lunch or rather, high tea, at Inter Continental Hotel... Spread was okay I guess... The cold prawns were really good though ^.^ Walked around Bugis Junction for a bit before they brought me home... So for dinner, I decided to go down to Plaza Sing and buy Mcdonalds back while running some errand...

I cant blog about Monday however much I wish to... All I can say is that it proves incriminating if I do and anyone smart enough will definitely see a connection... Don't know what I'm talking about? Good! :)

But anyway, here's my review of King Kong which I've watched recently!

I think Peter Jackson's King Kong is a remake of the classic King Kong from the 80s (or whatever retro time frame it was from). And like all good remakes, it's been technologically enhanced and improved (YAY)! I've never watched e olde King Kong and Peter Jackson's is obviously the first... All I can say is WOW! The production value is incredible! Screenplay was fantastic! Even the plot! I liked the characters (JACK BLACK!!!) too... Very unique individuality and well fleshed out... The sub-plots also had me gripped, they were action packed, intense and definitely RELEVANT, without getting in the way of the story. Scenes were very much coherent considering it's a 3 hour movie.

I'm not entirely sure if the storyline was taken from a previous script or whatever but the storyline is definitely top-notch *in thick British accent*! There's a fair amount of plot twists and turns, some expected, some not-so-expected and it's brought to life by Jack Black's performance as Carl Denham, a hard up director, desperate for a one chance to film his dream movie and make some moolah. He runs into trouble when he finds out [SPOILER ALERT!!!] that his main actress has quit. Cue Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts) who's also been out of a job due to a recent setback in her acting career. Carl convinces the just-as-desperate (for money!) Ann to act in his movie and so they set off for "Singapore" but find themselves on Skull Island instead where they face danger and peril...

Needless to say, they meet King Kong soon enough (no spoiler alert, c'mon, everybody knows that! It's the name of the movie for crying out loud!). The wonderful thing is how seemlessly King Kong is brought to life; just like how Yoda (George Lucas) and Gollum (Peter Jackson) seemed so real! Everybody loves Kong! Right? He might seem like a savage beast but he's actually nice, loving and playful inside... Apparently, he's misunderstood and when he gets back to New York (oh yes, this part wasnt clear... They didnt show how he was transported back to New York), Carl uses Kong to make millions but Kong aint too happy about it and proceeds to devastate much of Broadway. Then there's the familiar scene where he climbs the Eiffel Tower Empire State Building where he swats at the fighter planes like annoying mosquitos. Of course, he's no match for modern ("modern") technology and succumbs to man (teeth and savagery wont bring him down you see). By this time, you cant help by empathize with Ann, who's grown very much attached to Kong as you will find out in the movie, as Kong slips off the tallest building in the world giving Ann that one last look (a smile would've been more appropriate).

Skull Island looks amazing too! Definitely where I dont want to be. The primitive, but freaky, natives that wear bone necklaces and look like they havent showered in eons; the dinosaurs and beasts that seem just as real as Kong; and who can forget the bugs? The huge, ugly, oversized creepy crawlies. Gosh, SO disgusting! I was cringing in my seat as the girls in the cinema started squealing... Have you ever seen bugs THAT huge!? I'll freak if I even see a real centipede... And the leeches! I've never even seen one in real life! Yes, I didnt go for OBS OR the Sec 2 camp thankfully... No thank you, I definitely do NOT appreciate anything clinging onto my leg sucking my blood (unless its used in a lifesaving surgical operation bla bla bla)...

*Hey, can leeches be used to suck out blackheads from clogged pores!? COOL!*

And New York in the 80s looked fantastic too! Even though, I guess, most of it was CGI. Hurray for technology! Change the hues black and white and it'll seem just like an 80s movie I kid you not! That era was full of those old cars and men dressed in black tuxes and top hats. That kinda stuff...

Oooh, and the score was good too! Very nice music accompanying the set pieces from the native tribal congo drums in the scene where our crew was introduced to the natives of the island and the classical violin scores in the more subtle, emotional scenes... Sound effects? I guess the most memorable has to be "THE SCREAM"! Yes, you know "the scream" King Kong is so famous for? The one where Ann screams in a very very very HIGH pitched voice when she sees Kong. Who could forget that :) I'd try but it'd only come out as a hoarse dry croak... :P Marcus Loh will definitely have better luck accomplishnig it :)

I give it a 4.5/5 STARS! GO watch it! Although I have to say I was rather, um, distracted but still, was enough to write this review (:

Been looping this song, Celine Dion - Goodbye's (The Saddest Word), the whole time I blogged:

"Goodbye's the saddest word I'll ever hear
Goodbye's the last time I will hold you near
Someday you'll say that word and I will cry
It'll break my heart to hear you say goodbye

But the love you gave me will always live
You'll always be there every time I fall
You are to me the greatest love of all
You take my weakness and you make me strong
And I will always love you 'til forever comes"

It's about a mother's love and its rather ironic that I'm relating to it in a different context... Nevertheless, it's still a nice song :)

19 December 2005

Teen titans!

When there's trouble, you know who to call (TEEN TITANS!)

From their tower, they can see it all (TEEN TITANS!)

When there's evil on the attack You can rest knowing they got your back

'Cause when the world needs heroes on patrol

TEEN TITANS!

T-E-E-N! T-I-T-A-N-S! TEEN TITANS! LET'S GO!
T-E-E-N! T-I-T-A-N-S! TEEN TITANS! LET'S GO!

Dija know that the Teen Titans theme song is sung by Puffy Amiyumi!? You know that HI HI PUFFY AMIYUMI show... Yeah... So totally awesome duuuudeee.... Nice song right :)

Dumbest song of 2005

Ian made a list of his Top 20 favourite songs and since I have too many to count and I'm not a real music buff whatsoever, I've decided to list the DUMBEST song of 2005! Not much competition here, that song is a sure winner among all the others in my, rather small, library of music (it can fit into my 2gb nano... Then again, I didnt rip a lot of my CDs) so here it is! *Drumroll*

THE DUMBEST SONG OF 2005 GOES TO..... *more drumrolls, come on! LOUDER!!*

MY HUMPS - BLACK EYED PEAS!!!!

"What you gon’ do with all that junk?
All that junk inside your trunk?
I’ma get, get, get, get, you drunk,
Get you love drunk off my hump.
My hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump,
My hump, my hump, my hump, my lovely little lumps."

Like wtf!? 'Nuff said, it wins the dumbest song of the year... But hey, it's a got a nice catchy tune to it :)

EDIT - Apparently, IE has a bone to pick with the encoding of the lyrics where I got this from. If it looks fine to you, ignore the following instructions:
Go to VIEW
Select ENCODING
UNCHECK Auto-Select
Select Unicode (UTF-8)
And leave it at that... Unicode is universal, hence the "Uni" there... I forgot what you call that... There ya go, no more funny symbols popping up here and there...

EDIT (2) - Oh and if you have ANY objections whatsoever or you feel that another song deserves the title of "Dumbest song of 2005", feel free to tag... Seriously, my tagboard is dying... Please tag to save it!

EDIT (3) - Yes, I'm utterly bored... Here's another topic to TAG about... Eric Loh asks this in his nick: aeonflux vs harry potter vs king kong vs t rex vs superman vs spiderman vs xmen vs spongebob who would win?

I say Spongebob will win! His utter LAMENESS and retardedness will kill everyone... No kidding!

Pwnage

ULTIMATE PWNAGE! Am very hyped about this since I'm a n00b... There were TWO normals vs me... Had 15+ kills and 0 deaths ;) Posted by Picasa Oh yes, they're AI... 6.12b AI...

Oh yay, Justin and Cherie has resurrected the spirit of DotA in me (hurrah)! I was SO hyped about that insane crit... Man... The com was gonna GG soon but I chose to slack in my base while the com pushed my other lanes so I could farm more gold for Divine Rapier! t3h awesomenest!

Ok, havent really been doing much lately... My days have been consistently filled with gaming and MSNing... I'd wake up in the early AFTERNOON, WoW till like 9 or 10pm (of course with food/drink/toilet breaks), shower, then MSN till 4am!!! Oh gosh, this is D4 L!F3!!! Yep, did that the WHOLE week...

It's been only the last few days that I've started playing DotA... Cherie found the no-cd patch for me (WHOOOOOOOOOOO!) and used lancraft to play DotA with Justin and Cherie... And yes, my new CM is DROW RANGER! 60% farming and 50% hero killing (yeah, DR is 110%!!!)!!!!!!!! FEAR ME!!! In full 1337: /*-342 \/3!!!!

'Tis the kind of sh!t you get to do during the school hols ^.^ AND I STILL NEED MY WC3 CD BACK FROM SOMEONE!

So anyway, my aunt called this afternoon and I'm pretty sure (80%) that she's gonna buy me a PSP game since she asked what games I have :) My cousin recently got a PSP too thus the ingenius gift idea ^.^

BUT then again, there's nothing I want this Christmas except........................ A MILLION DOLLARS! Naw just kidding; I cant say it here... Perhaps I already have it....? Here's a hint: it's something money cant buy... Heh, very helpful indeed...

Also, I've been watching Crossing Jordan showing on Chn 5 at 3pm after I wake up... It's KINDA like CSI but really more emotional and deeper than CSI... Bits and pieces of law segments too... Hurray for afternoon-TV-which-no-one-watches-because-everyone-is-at-work/play/out :)

Then there's the DON AND DREW show if you havent heard about it already... www.donanddrew.com... You can subscribe to their podcast if you have iTunes, think there's a new one every week... Speaking of podcasts, their show introduced me to the world of podcasts! I found quite a bunch of interesting podcasts (by that, I mean gaming and tech) but I have hardly any time to listen to them...

I've got CG later at 6pm (LATER, not tomorrow!), I wonder if I can wake up in time for it 0.o

Right then, remember to watch your backs! You might never know when Drow Ranger will pop out and backstab; silence when you try to cast; snare with Frost Arrows when you try to run and OMGWTFPWN you to the ground! BWAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH! *goes insane here...*

Splinter Cell: Double Agent

I don't know what took me this long but I just got news that Splinter Cell 4, subtitled Double Agent, will be released in Spring 2006 and Ubisoft just released some news about it the other day! Click here for the article.

This means a lot...

I've only remembered Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and WoW: The Burning Crusade releasing next year... Now add Splinter Cell 4 and Hitman Blood Money to the 3... Right now, I only intend to get SC4... I gotta study next year! Abstinence indeed... I wasnt looking forward to any game next year but SC4 just got revived all of a sudden; Ubisoft just announced new details about it all of a sudden and now I'm hyped!

Ok, in SC4, Sam Fisher heads into enemy territory as he goes undercover in a terrorist organization in the US itself... There are many choices he'll have to make, good and bad, dark and light. Kinda reminds me of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic where you can choose to go to the DARK side or the LIGHT side... There'll be situations in the game where, I think, you could turn bad or something... But a lot is still unknown...

What I didn't like from the previous games (Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory) has to be the lack of cool moves and gadgets... Chaos Theory introduced the dagger but it didnt really mean much gameplay-wise and seemed merely cosmetic... I hope SC4 introduces more new moves which seem to be lacking in the previous games... Like when Sam's back is to the wall and waiting for someone to pass, how often do I wish I could sock the enemy as he turns the corner or something...

SC4 will be released in Spring 2006 but I'm betting that it will be delayed... If I'm not wrong, spring quarter would be from April to June... That period... Oh how nice, Chinese Os share that period too... SC4 will be released for the Xbox, PS2, GC, PC, Xbox 360 yada yada... Just go read the article on gamespot... The interview too...

11 days to Christmas

17 days to the end of the holidays...

I was revisiting some of my archives and it's really a good indication of how I've grown, blogging-wise and content too... I've also realised that my blog template has been like this ever since I started blogging reguarly which was like last year... All of a sudden, this dormant blog got resurrected by who-knows-what... Anyway, if you havent already, you should really check out my archives... They're either about gaming or school life although some are rather introspective...

It's less than a month (well almost) to the end of the hols and we all know how time flies... Very soon, I'll be on the edge of a daunting new school year made even more intimidating with the imminence of the Os... I'm trying to adopt a certain someone's optimism and confidence in the face of this new "foe"; perhaps I should find pleasure in working to dominate it. Well, time will tell...

So this is the part where I look back this year and reminiscent!

This year has definitely been extremely interesting... The first thing that struck me at the beginning of this year was being in B band... See, I've been in A band since Sec 1 and it has never worried me to end up in B band... For the first half of the year, I was really reluctant and filled with angst, blaming the school for not opening an A4 class... But all that's changed because I'm now in A4 and as the year progressed, I've realised that A and B band had very little differences and I could still keep close relations despite being in different classes...

Months crawled along and I slowly adjusted to my class, accepting the idiosyncrasies and silly characters. I tried to mix with the nice people but was pretty much a loner in class; I refused to be with any "clique" but rather was a neutral person. Haha, Cephas' and his clique were rather close I think... I remember sitting with during Chem and I was the one at the table who probably only listened while the others were talking about MAPLE (read previous post)... Then there's other more rowdy bunch like Siang Koon who left my form teacher on the brink of tears... Overall, I must say I've had very much neutral relationships with the rest in class... I'm nice to everyone except a certain few once they cross my, rather high, threshold...

The weeks leading to the carnival in March were really fun! Brainstorming on ideas for the carnival, the insane amount of preparation and resources spent... I suggested Xbox lan center on the whim and never realised my form teacher was serious about it. We skipped a lot of classes and things were livelier and funfilled as the carnival drew closer. Hey, what's not to like about carnivals? Besides those freaky deeky clowns... My group included Cephas and gang (they joined voluntarily) and I remember going with them to Sim Lim Square, after school, to get cables and stuff for my carnival stall. And credit has to go to Francis, the AV coordinator guy, for helping me with my stall. He provided the projectors, helped out with all the technical hijinks and readily aceded to a lot of our requests... During the carnival, we offered him free play but he declined... What a guy :)

The carnival was fantastic although the food stalls left much to be desired... I made a few acquaintances with this year's 2A4 since we were using their class for our Xbox stall. They were challenging us to rounds of Halo 2! The carnival disrupted much of our daily timetable and that was certainly a welcome change to the monotonous pace of school life... Oh yes, even met new people at the carnival... <3333 this year's carnival and when I asked some of my classmates if the school should have another one next year, I was met with a lot of disapproval... WHY!?!?!?!? It was so fun! I doubt I'm the only one who enjoyed it! Who could forget dunking Mr Tang? I still have Eric Loh's pic when his silly grin and lollipop in the mouth :D Indeed, the break was really much needed from the stress of school reopening...

Next few months were pretty normal, little breaks interject here and there then came mid year! Or common tests as they put it. What really sucked was having normal lessons right after the CT... And what sucked even more is that we got back our test papers almost immediately... First half of the papers, I did pretty well scoring the best for SS and PASSING chem by 5 or 6... The next week, we got back physics and emaths which I both failed miserably. There! The Life-Is-Fair phantom strikes again! Ironically, I did better for A Maths than E maths... But still failed! /shrug... CT wasnt very pleasant but I guess it gave me a reason to study harder... Perhaps or perhaps not? For the rest of the year, I failed most of my physics test but actually did above average for physics EOY.

The many projects we had were pretty fun to do but closer to the end of year, I began putting less effort into some of the projects we had to do. I remember the History newspaper project, I had encountered so much trouble trying to print stuff on A3 paper that in the end, I improvised and stuck two pieces of printed A4 together to form A3. Till now, I have no idea how much I got for that project... Then there's the physics presentation! Woot! 9.5/10! My group members didnt do much actually... I prepared the actual Powerpoint and contributed 80%... Perhaps I'm being an egoist here but it's up to you to believe or not. It's unfair that my group members get the same marks as the person who contributes the most... But whatever, I think that physics project on radiation really proved my abilities since a lot of people wanted me in their groups after that...

Oh and how can I forget the teachers!!! Yes, all the memorable moments with our teachers... Caroline Tan (English): She's really nice but my class goes overboard with the noise and she makes us get out of the class every other lesson... I scored for English tests and compos although it tended to fluctuate once in a while...

NHF (Emaths): Everyone liked her. She gave out lollipops and told lame jokes. Everyone loved her cute demeanor and squeaky voice :) She loves picking on Justin and her classes are really light-hearted. Flares up sometimes though...

Lynette Loh (Amaths): Haha! Firstly, she prays before every lesson... Secondly, shes a great teacher, definitely a lot better than that OTHER A maths teacher... Thirdly, she PMSes a lot but she's still great! She loves picking on the weaker students though... Also, she doesnt check on my in-class work that I sometimes feel left out T.T She knows that I can handle my own so she doesnt check...

Eric Loh (Physics): EVERYBODY'S favourite teacher to hate! He insults our class, makes us stay back during recess, sets insanely difficult tests but is stilla very fun teacher. His open dialogue with my class is really amusing as he makes fun of indivudual characters and they retort back. He's also a fusspot for uniform and hair etc... He doesn't really teach much but at least his lessons are interesting... Eric Loh's extremely biased towards my class. We pay attention and give him due respect sometimes :) "Sometimes" being the operative word... Everybody hates him but I dont really... I understand his actions, his logic, his reasoning and actually advocate them... Everyone just sees the plain, open side of him... He's a great teacher really...

Timothy Wong (Chem): EVERYBODY'S favourite teacher to criticize! At least we get the Learning Center (LC)! He's always late for lessons and doesnt teach that well truth be told... He's mostly reasonable but is full of sarcasm and laughs at his lame jokes. Overall, he's really nice and helps those who yearn for it...

Mdm Sin (Chinese/Form teacher): Slackiest, and laziest, teacher ever... While other teachers are marking attendance, she makes us, the monitors, do it and forgets so many things and blame it on us. She's also really soft such that my class pays his no regard during her periods. We climb over her head and make theme songs (na na na, aye aye aye, you suck) about her... Immature but very funny... She's so nice that she hasnt sent anyone for BCP (equivalent of detention) this year...

Nachi!!! (Geog): She's the nicest old lady and best Geog teacher you can find... EVER! Everyone says her classes are boring but thats because they dont listen... I guess I'm rather nerdy since I sit in front and listen attentively... I can tell shes extremely biased towards me since I'm usually doing well for Geog... She had verbal sparring matches with the class troublemaker too, haha...

Chin Khai Fung (History, first half): Another nice teacher... So nice that we take advantange and just shut him out, completely ignoring his lessons and making a ruckus in his classes... He's not very charismatic or eloquent and we just want his notes...

Darren Chiam (History, second half): The RANDOM one... He commands a lot of respect from my class. He's nice and he jokes a lot and speaks loudly. His lessons are interesting since he jokes a lot but some people beg to differ... He's also biased to some people... D. Chiam says he's had almost every job you can think of (even toilet cleaner) and shares a lot of funny stories to liven things up... Completely opposite of boring old CKF...

Tang Chee Kuan (Social Studies): Some love him, some hate him but he's a really good teacher. Extremely strict and walks like a "gangster" as some put it... He's actually quite nice, jokes a lot and stuff.. Just dont catch him in a bad mood... Because he's a DM, everyone is silent and pay attention in his class... Loves picking on Bryan Yam too, very interesting conversations often emerge :)

Ok thats about it for teachers... Gonna wrap up with EOY! I'm almost done, bear with me :)

I still remember how frightening EOYs were... The importance of it and how precariously our future hung in its balance... So much so that I actually stopped WoW for one month (very proud of this ^.^) and truly studied by myself...

All said, thank God for my results... Thank God for this whole year and everything that's happened, wonderful or bad! Maybe I'll look forward to the new year and embrace whatever lies ahead with faith in God :)

Oh yay, new class to look forward to :) I wonder who's gonna be our teachers!

(It's 4am now, I took 2 hours to write this post... YOU HAD BETTER DAMN WELL APPRECIATE IT!!!! Hahahhaha, just kidding, I know you will :) :P )

Maplestory sucks... Seriously...

Haha, most of you should've heard of Maplestory by now and all the "buzz" and "hype" about it... Was surfing Gamespot.com just now and chanced upon a "Maplestory movie" (which sucked too btw) and found a whole bunch of MS user reviews... So I'm here to tell you how much it sucks... I played it for 3 hours, got to level 9, became a mage and NEVER ever EVER EVER (x10000) played it again... I think my hard drive's been defiled even after uninstalling...

So really, what IS Maplestory? It's a terrible Korean 2D MMORPG where you go around whacking snails, green blobs and wooden stumps on this 2D plane... That's all you ever do... Seriously... You hold down the "ctrl" button to attack and there are only 3 attack animations - stab, swipe, backhand? According to the game, the different attacks do different types of damage but theres no way you can control the type of attack...

There is absolutely no story... You start out with quests that make you walk from one screen to the next screen delivering stuff... And that isnt a precursor to any future quests... Hell, there arent even quests in the later levels... Killing stuff is all you ever do... You just waste your life holding down the "ctrl" button... Sheesh, just tape it down :)

So when you finally reach lvl 9 after killing snails for hours, and assuming you dont get bored by then, you go off to find a "job" - mage, warrior, priest, the usual stuff... I chose to become a mage and my first skill was this magic ball thingy... After shooting it a few times, im Out of Mana (OOM).... So I wait for my mana to regen... I wait... And wait... Wait some more... Perhaps grow a beard or two... Oh screw it! Exit and uninstall! I never found it fun killing snails anyway...

And I cant stress this enough... Its 2D!!!!!! Any computer game that is 2D (besides classic like Mario) isnt enough to warrant my attention... Ok, the graphics suck... The animations are limited and repititive, stiff and just lame... The character models are, well, flat and not life-like at all since they dont animate well to begin with... It feels as if you're playing with paper dolls...

Soundwise, the music is extremely forgettable... Sound effects just flat out suck... Bland and repititive...

In short, this game is all about repitition... All you ever do is whack whack whack... Then jump around... Whack some more... Whack even more and more and more and more....... Rinse, dry, repeat until bored... On the brightside, MOE can use this as a teaching tool to teach patience and endurance... :)

EDIT - Maple can NEVER compare with WoW... In terms of quality...

Take my WoW Quiz on QuizYourFriends.com!

Nothing changes at level 60....

Sorry for the lack of updates but I guess those silly and inaccurate quizzes really did make up for it :) In the past week or so, I've uncovered so many shocks and revelations that I cant count them all on one hand some I can mention here, some that I wont say but nevertheless, will be revealed in due time (as if such things remain secrets for long)...

The classlist was posted on Monday and I'm pretty satisfied with my class 4A4... It's mainly B3 dominated followed by A3 then B2... I was laughing my ass off (literally) when I went through the list of people in my class... It's all good here and there but it could've been better... Then again, need I ask for more? Hurray for A3 but I think the school is random with such queer placements... I'll probably find out in due time...

I've finally reached level 60! Nothing much has changed indeed... The only big difference is that when I complete quests or kill mobs, I receive no exp... It's quite sad after being so used to getting exp for the past 8 months... In all, it took me 18 days to get to level 60... 18 FULL days and 22 hours to get to level 60.... The average time it takes to get to 60 is 20 days I hear... Right now, everything starts to slow down a bit... Not much quests to do, perhaps run some instances to get new gear, farm Devilsaurs for their leather to make devilsaur gauntlets and sell them for exorbitant prices... There's hardly any reason to quest now and its just farming rep and stuff nowadays...

Also seems I'm in dire need of an equipment overhaul.... My equipment is severely lacking and not up-to-date; something that can be remedied by running instances over and over again... Oh the boredom... They say its a whole new game at level 60 and I agree - its where it ends... There's not even a congratulatory message or something when you reach 60, just the usual effects... Would be nice if there were fireworks though... The only reason anyone should quest at level 60 is for the reward or just "sympathizing" with the NPCs no matter how silly...

Levels 1-30 were the baby levels and I mainly quested... I quested for the storylines not just to reach 60 pronto... Nobody cares about MMO storylines nowadays...

Lvl 40-50, I remember PvPing regularly... I managed to get into AB soon enough and it's hella fun... Mainly did instances here and began to hate them...

Lvl 50-60 was probably the most hectic... I grinded almost everyday and there was always pressure to get to 60 sooner... I respecced to Feral at 52 or 53 and grinding's been much more enjoyable since... I love to see the numbers fly :) Sadly, a Druid will never crit for over 2k... We're meant to be healbots! Perhaps I'll play Circq from now on... DPSing is a fun thing...

One thing that still stays the same though is the lag and the routine.... It's starting to grow weary on me...

With WoW over (kinda), I guess I'll finally have time to do other stuff *hint hint :)* and LIVE! Hopefully, I wont get sucked back in and not study for Os... YEA! I'm so over gaming!!!! Yea right -.-'

Really short post but my life is boring... I've just been too distracted lately to think of anything else...

EDIT - Left out some grammar and words... I think faster than I type sadly... Either that or vice versa...

4 months later to Next-Gen...

Thats right, it's official! (Although nothing is really official until we see it) Microsoft has announced that it will be releasing the Xbox 360 in Singapore on the 2nd of March. Although you SHOULD be able to see imported versions of the Xbox 360 going for insane amounts by this Christmas...

Here's the official news story from Gamespot.com...

Microsoft details Asian 360 launches

Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore to receive 360s early next year despite shortages in North America.

Supplies of the Xbox 360 remain tight in North America and Europe, but that's not stopping Microsoft from continuing its plans to introduce the console around the world in record time. The game publisher adds Japan to the list of 360-equipped regions with its launch this coming Saturday, and Reuters is reporting that the system's Far Eastern exposure is going to increase early next year.

Alan Bowman, head of Microsoft's Asian Xbox operations, has said the console is slated for a Korean release February 24, 2006, followed a week later by March 2 launches in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore.

There was talk of delaying these launches in order to meet US demand for the system, but in the end, Bowman said, Microsoft stuck to its guns.

"Believe me, that conversation happened," he told Reuters. "We wanted to make sure within the first six months that we could get the 360 into all existing Xbox 1 markets."

Where Microsoft is going exclusively with a hard-drive-equipped model of the 360 in Japan, gamers in these new markets will have the same choice of core or premium systems as their European and North American counterparts. Bowman said the prices for the Asian systems will be in line with those from other regions, which currently range from $299 for an American core system to 279 pounds (about $485) for a premium Xbox 360 in the UK.

First reactions... Ok, they finally announced the release of Xbox 360s in Asia... Uh, great! Although Microsoft, you're gonna be late by 4 months missing the Christmas period... Also, it's commendable that they're gonna release it in Asia despite the shortages EVERYWHERE, and the controversy surrounding the shortages...

It's mildy surprising that Singapore is mentioned in this article or announcement by Microsoft... Kinda shows that Singapore has achieved such worthy status and garnered recognition from Microsoft... AT least we beat Malaysia ^.^

And they announce the price... Yes, very important indeed... They claim its gonna be "in line with those from other regions..." I'm assuming this means 399SGD... If they're going to factor in exchange rate, it'd be 700SGD for an Xbox 360 and I doubt it'll be very popular here... Dude! EXORBITANT! Then there's the cost of the games to count in too... 70 bucks for current-gen games... Uh, next gen is gonna be definitely more... And when PS3 gets released, the price will definitely plummet...

All said, I dont really care.... It's Os next year and what better way to welcome it with the advent of next-gen gaming.... *I'm being sarcastic here*

I love this song too....

SMUNC report

Ok, Ms Fong SMSed me yesterday to submit my report by tomorrow so here it is for everyone to read :) Note that 95% of it is true... Naw wait, make that 80%...

From the 10th to 15th of November, 5 students, including me, from our school participated in our first ever Stanford Model United Nations Conference, held in San Francisco, California, on the campus of Stanford University itself.

The conference was a once-in-a-lifetime experience as we traveled to the States, a first for many of us, to participate in this prestigious event. The 5 of us were split up into different committee sessions to debate about serious issues concerning the UN. I, representing Turkey, was in General Assembly 6 (Legal) where we debated about the Security Council Reform and the Development of the International Criminal Court for over 15 hours, spread out over 5 sessions.

The other delegates were from the US itself and we were the only ones from Asia to participate in this event. Despite the racial barrier, many of us socialized with each other and both parties shared about their countries, lifestyle and interests, making new friends along the way and sharing memorable experiences with one another.

What I’ve definitely learnt from this trip is the importance of the UN and its many facades. I’ve gained new insights of the world, paying more attention to real-life crises and ongoing diplomatic conflicts – something that was never as real to me before the trip.

Having no background of the topics, research was of utmost importance. Despite the use of the internet, our topics were as dynamic as the internet itself with the ever changing status and views of the different countries and situations, it compelled us to ensure our research was up to date and accurate while understanding our own countries’ policies and views equally well. Our teacher in-charge, Ms Fong, gave us plentiful resources and took up some of the stress and pressure we faced with the imminence of the conference.

The delegates of the various countries were strong with backgrounds of debating and past M.U.N. experience. I had still managed to participate undeterred despite such intimidating opposition and the complete lack of any debating experience; SMUNC introduced me to the world of debates - an experience everyone should at least attempt.

It is imperative to know that the Security Council Reform was the central topic of my committee session with it making up the majority of our debate. Previously, such an issue was unheard of in my secluded life; I could much less name the 5 permanent members of the Security Council. However, the debate had proved that the Security Council Reform was indeed more crucial and integral to the UN. Much has been disputed over the veto powers, disparity of country representation, and even the importance of the Security Council. Many feared it would share the same fate of the, now defunct, League of Nations.

SMUNC has indeed changed my perspective of the UN and the world at large. The tenuity that mars the many diplomatic relations, the diminishing support of the UN, the importance of the UN’s many smaller branches and the many global crises it has to address; despite such, truly, much is to be appraised of the UN.

After reading it, I doubt any of it is true now... Haw haw... Just kidding, you guys decide :P Now to process and send :)

EDIT - Not going to put this in a new post lest this post gets unnoticed...

I went to cut my hair yesterday and since its so awkward, I'm forced to "spike" my hair. I just tried and failed miserably... I have no freakin idea how to spike my hair ok... Yea, go ahead and laugh... My hair is now a complete mess and I refuse to take a picture... Actually, I've always wanted to go try spiking my hair for fun... Hey, at least I know I've tried... Um, someone help? Perhaps I should just leave it alone...

P.S. I look worse than Mervin now...

XS

Ok XS.... Whats to say? I heard Patricia speak in tongues which was really freaky... There was one part she started mumbling to herself and I don't think the others behind heard it but it sounded GREEK! Gibberish! It was really really weird... She just started speaking strangely for two lines and I almost exclaimed "HUH!?"... The atmosphere was so serious, it was all I could do to contain my fascination and disbelief...

At this part, my train of thoughts have left the station... So um, yeah... Chicken little's cute!

03 December 2005

She sells what...?

She sells sea shells on the sea shore...

That tongue twister is weird... Why would "she" be selling sea shells on the sea shore when others could just pick them up? I think she stole all of the sea shells and left none for anyone else to pick up so she could make a quick buck... But whatever, its a tongue twister and doesnt deserve much attention if your life doesnt revolve around it...

It's the month of December and that means Christmas! And my birthday which I don't really bother much about... The start of December marks the halfway mark of the holidays... Is the bottle half empty of half full? Whatever it is, it's drained far too quickly... O levels next year and I cant say im not the most enthusiastic of the bunch to start the new year so quickly... For one, it means no more games, or at least less fun, and more studying... Very important exam but so was PSLE and whatever exams we have next...

I don't like Christmas and my birthday mainly because of its relative nearness to the start of a new term... Whatever presents I get, I don't get to enjoy them long enough because not long later, school reopens... I remember playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic the week before school reopened... The dreary thought of school starting again mar my experience of KotOR... Also means less opportunities to go out with friends... I have no more money anyway... At least I think it isnt enough....

Well speaking of school reopening (it actually is quite early to talk about that like one month before), I've completely forgotten my homework. Surprising there wasnt any Chinese homework but there's A and E maths to do... I probably misplaced it and I'll end up, like many previous occasions before, doing holiday homework at the last minute (and by that, I mean the first week of school). They probably wont collect it the first few days of school anyway :) I remember last year's holiday homework wasnt even handed in because my E maths teacher (this year) had completely forgotten about it. I had actually DONE my E maths homework and she didnt collect it... Pfft... Well, I doubt that would be the case next year because, well, its Os and the sec 4 teachers are strict (one of them is the DM). I think the nicest has to be Theresa Ving but shes the HOD of Math anyway so I'd better not take my chances and probably make some time to reunite myself with my longlost homework somewhere in the pile of files/books/paper/magazine/rotten carcasses of who-kn0ws-what... It's quite a dump I know...

It's one month till the end of the school holidays and it feels like one week left... Time flies... Trust me on this... Time to stop procrastinating and get off my butt and hopefully get some "work" done... Knowing me, I bet all my self-advice will be flung to the wind...

I wonder who's gonna be my form teacher next year... Our classes have yet to be announced and I've pretty much lost all hope of ever making it to my desired class... Nevertheless, God has a plan for me and I just gotta learn to trust in that... I've learnt that this year... Perhaps it was a blessing after all that I didnt make it to A3... But still, my other side ails....

I've had a Chinese-teaching form teacher THRICE in my Secondary School life (twice the same teacher, this year and last year), and I hope Year 4 breaks that ominous trend. But then again, it could be a blessing because our lockers are located on the third level which is pretty fair... Just in the middle, rather convenient...

It also pains me, along with Justin and everyone else, to say goodbye to Ryan who will be leaving for Australia (probably migrating) because his father has been posted there... Despite Ryan's attempts to salvage the situation, it seems he still has to go. It's ok, MSN is there for a reason :)

*At this point, I've no idea what to blog*

Um, I spent 3 hours last night (midnight to 3am) finishing up the Warcraft: War of the Anicents: The Sundering Book III novel... It's a hella good novel and every Warcraft/fantasy fan should read... Gohdorop aka Bryan Cheung (from WoW and in my school) claims that during the ancient wars, Felhunters (which he dearly adores his "Zhaadhun") sucked Druids dry of their mana and life force... This is akin to the game's mana burn by the way... Goh doesnt know the last part of the story! Malfurion, everybody's favourite Druid and NE hero, saves all of Kalimdor by summoning Kalimdor's very own power to destroy the Burning Legion's portal. The War of the Ancients trilogy is a prequel to Warcraft III just in case anyone was wondering... Who cares, Felhunters' Mana Burn doesnt affect Druids in Bear Form and I, being a Feral Druid, is in Bear Form most of the time in combat. 800 maul crits is just the beginning :) And I've been critting over 1k so often in Cat that it's no more worthy of any mention since it's so common. What can I say? Feral druids pwn!

My first XS meeting is tomorrow and I got an SMS from this Jon Tang guy who was asking me to join my CG for dinner before the combined XS meeting... I have no idea who those seniors are and have much less spoken to them... Perhaps I recognize some of their faces here and there after seeing them in church for sometime now but still, I'm pretty intimidated and unsure. I don't know if I'm ready for this but at least Justin's in my CG... I was kinda hoping that all the boys were together just like in previous SS "classes" but I guess life needs some variety sometimes... I'll probably get to know my CG better some day...

I've realised that closing a blog post is rather difficult since I have no idea how to close... Should I end off with what I'm going to do (which is most probably sleep or read something)? Whatever, I shall just end abruptly and laugh in your faces! Bwahahha! Good night :)

EDIT -
Just thought of a random fact... My cousin has the same birthday as me, 26/12/1990... My uncle also has the same birthday but different year (duh)... :)

EPIII

Remember when I said I'd go watch Episode III the other day? Like, last week or so... Well I lied... Moreso, it was being "ECONOMICAL with the truth" and "just contained a misleading impression" (I like the way Tesae puts it :)) I just went to explore the extras and was halfway through the "making of" documentary when I had to go off to my relative's place... So yes, EPIII DVD is a good buy even just for the show itself! Extras include the usual stuff, Xbox playable demo of SW: BFII, and some access to SW Hyperspace online thingy...

Here are some of my favourite moments from EPIII, some just made me laugh, some just made me cry (almost) and some were just downright (no, upleft :P) exciting...

Chronologically...

1)
The first opening space battles and the rescueing of Palpatine (that SOB!!!)... Buzz, bang, boom! Just love the laser blasts and special FX... Short but intense lightsaber duel against Dooku (what a dumb name -.-') and the first evidence of Palpatine's influence on Anakin. Remember when Anakin was gonna kill Dooku? "KILL HIM! KILL HIM! DO ITTTT!!!!"

2)
After you skip some of the boring political scenes and jibjabberish, Obiwan goes off to find General Grievious... The lighsaber battle was laughable...

Grievious: "Foolish Jedi! I have been trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku!"

and then goes on to be OMGWTFPWNed by Obiwan... EAT THAT!

3)
Ooh, betrayal of the Jedi... Damn sad seeing the Jedi die at the hands of their own allies... And then Anakin slays the younglings.... Why that *TOOOOOOOT*!!!! The atmosphere, music and tone fitted the scenes perfectly... Harry Potter 4 but failed when EPIII had succeeded... I think it was because of the kids... They're so short and cute and innocent, you cant help feeling sad for them...

4)
Mace and gang attempt to arrest Palpatine but Anakin betrays Mace Windu... I have to say this: Palpatine. Is. UGLY!!!! AND HIDEOUS! Hideous rhymes with sidious... Nia nia nia :P So anyway, we find out how sly Sidious really is and how he tricks Anakin...

Sidious: "Oooh, I'm getting SO weak!!!! Anakin! SAVE MEEE! *insert more cheesy and lame lines here that somehow Anakin believes*..."

And this part is where Anakin becomes that evil SOB you see on Mustafar...

5)
Fast forward to when Obiwan stows away in Padme's ship and they find Anakin on the planet Mustafar... Padme and Anakin talks about stuff and then, my favourite part...

Padme: "Anakin you're breaking my heart!!!"

Lol! That part was so funny, she acted really... Padme-ish? And after some brief exchanges, Obiwan stands at the door with his hands at his waist acting macho and stuff... Gosh, that was awfully amusing too...

6)
Battle between Anakin and Obiwan... Shows the emotions assailing the two as they clash and do battle... Then the special effects were amazing as they jump from the tower and fight on debris in the lava... Obiwan wins and severs all but one of Anakin's limbs leaving him crawling pitifully in the dirt... It really makes you want to save Anakin from his torment and just make him GOOD! The foolish idiot! Anakin is then engulf in flames which I have no idea where it came from, and then burnt to a chao tar crisp... Starts to look like Gollum at this part... And when he screams, "I HATE YOUUUU!!!" at Obiwan, you can really feel the emotion and hatred... Gosh, good acting! Hayden Christanssen (I think that's how you spell)! Unlike Harry Potter's "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"... I think I found it amusing because of Darth Vader doing that in an overtly cliched manner...

7)
Yes, Darth Vader's "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" part... Hahahahah... Go watch it again!

8)
The babies! Baby Leia was so cute!!! It's unfair that Leia gets royalty while Luke lives in the deserts of whats-that-place... At least he's got Obiwan to look after him...

Alright then, I hope I didnt miss anything but the movie was good on a whole! Watching it again is so much better...

Here's another random fact!
I HAVE A CRUSH ON!!!!! DUN DUN DUN... Not telling.... Pfft, /bonk if you actually thought I was gonna post it :P

Oooh ok... Real one: 99% of my clothes are BLACK or dark blue (which is like almost black)... Queer choice considering how hot Singapore is.... But nevermind, I just like it :) What? You want me to wear pink? Marcus Loh can believe that real men wear pink for all I care! I dare you say that to your army seargent/commander/whoever's in charge... Dang!

29 November 2005

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Justin! Yes, you're older than me by a month but still shorter! :P :P :P Don't worry, you'll grow sooner or later :P Don't worry too much about your results, life isnt over, you have other achievements in life! God bless!

I <3 USA!

So much for patriotism...

OK, lemme get this out of the way... I know what you guys bought for me and I'm already laughing now... Small, cute and furry character... Haha but thanks anyway... You know who you are and what I'm talking about :) Thank you all very much!

I'm really missing San Fran and SMUNC... In retrospect, I felt that I've should've taken more pictures, really socialized more with the other guys and gals, participated more and BOUGHT more stuff! In short: gotten more out of the trip... Goodbyes are sad alright... Every night before I go to bed, I always like to reminiscent that trip... Until now, my mom still talks about it saying Ms Fong should've let us go there earlier or something... Certainly memorable and unforgettable... There's no point regretting things now because there's certainly no way to relive those 4 days... /sigh All in the past and the past stays dead... But at least I've got pictures! And another non-consumnable I brought back is my Nano... Bought from Stanford and dropped/scratched by Stanford floor... I swear, the memories still seem so vivid its always like yesterday (CLICHE!!!)... I feel like I'm holding onto a dead relative for too long... Perhaps its time to let go and embrace the future...

That's so sad....

On a more argumentative note, I think we've all been influenced too much by western culture, so many of us intend to migrate (especially you know who... no not voldermort, pfft!) to the US. I must admit I'm lacking this sense of patriotism and loyalty... I feel like I'm depicting myself as a cat... USA feeds me better so I choose to ran away from my current owner to a, perhaps, better owner...

I don't think I've really supported Singapore much, especially in sports... Perhaps maybe when I was young, innocent, and not so worldly... Sometimes I really admire those avid fans of Team Singapore... To be able to continually support Team Singapore besides being disappointed on countless occasions. And to die for my country... Not gonna happen... It's scary how some jaded and cynical people go through NS and at the end of the two years, they've all changed and are willing to sacrifice everything... Cynical and jaded -> f(NS) -> Patriotic and loyal

function(NS) is a machine... A brainwashing machine... Well before someone questions my content, I shall state Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which I believed Singapore has also signed - SG joined UN in 1945, Declaration signed in 1948;

Article 19
Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media regardless of frontiers...

Pretty self-explanatory... I keep a copy of this in my school bag... Useful when arguing with teachers :P Which I seldom do anyway...

I watch the news (very rarely though) and when they start mentioning team singapore and the sports, it's my cue to switch off the teevee... I already know team SG CMI, no matter how many medals they win, still CMI... And I'm uninterested in SEA games anyway... It's pretty obvious that the sporting sector isnt really flourishing in Singapore. I mean look, we have to "import" China players to play ping pong for us! Puh-leeze, there's no local talent, just admit it and get over it... And look at Singapore idol too! Bananaman!? And so many failures... Remember that "Lemon Tree" guy... Seriously, William Hung-wannabe... Don't even get me started about Taufik winning... I'm not saying he sucks, he can sing and pretty good at that. But like my grand uncle says (he's EXTREMELY EXTREMELY cynical and some other character I cant describe), the voting was government influenced. The government paid a group of people to vote for Taufik so prove that Malays werent treated with prejudice. If we all Chinese voted for Sly, he'd definitely win... It's all a government conspiracy I say... No government tells the truth I can swear that...

A little other minor irks and gripes: 1) Weather is warm and humid, not good for my skin condition (or whatever is left) 2) Pizza delivery is expensive and small 3) People arent very courteous and outgoing as US people 4) Uh, did I mention its warm?

That's not to say Singapore is all bad... For one, the games here are hella cheaper compared to the US. Food is pretty good once you get past the hygiene barrier and Singapore's pretty accessible compared to US where you have to go DOWNTOWN where's its all hap'nin... And they live in nice big houses in large sprawling neighborhoods where you can play hide and seek and never find each other again... And did I mention the weather is darn good... 5 degrees and you can see your breath condense :) Yeah, my baby fats protect me from the cold :D Oh and there's WALMART and GAMESTOP and EB GAMES and its just gamer haven... Walmart, literally, sells EVERYTHING... And its a bit cheaper by 80 cents or something.... Oh wait, this part's about Singapore right? Uh yeah, I don't really know... I'm at home playing American games on an American computer/console breathing nice cold "American" air... Hahahha...

I'm probably gonna get a lot of flak from some of you I-Love-Singapore-More-Than-I-Love-Myself-And-Him-And-Her-And-Everybody-Else people... Whatever, our life is fragile and temporary, my allegiance (rightfully so) lies with God. He gave me this life and I'm just happy living it playing WoW and doing what I do best - gaming :) You don't need to be American to game! Although Xbox 360 just launched this tuesday...

In a WoW Uldaman instance run....
"So where you from?"
"I'm from Singapore :)"
"Oh, my sister went there"
"says its a nice place..."
"You speak very good English by the way... Don't worry, you can go all ching chong cha here, we wont mind..."

Lol... We've branded and stereotyped ourselves...

Xbox 360 launch

If you havent heard already (if so, I smite thee!), the Xbox 360 launched this tuesday and all sorts of news have been popping up... I've read stories of people queueing up for 10 hours to get an Xbox 360, lucky customers getting robbed of their 360s, and check out this Penny Arcade comic! To cut the crap, just click here for all the news and articles about the Xbox 360 :)

The biggest issue about the Xbox 360 launch is the MASSIVE shortage... Microsoft has warned of the shortage and claims that it's because they're semi-simultaneously launching the 360 across the US, Europe and Japan too thats why they're facing a shortage... Bullshit I say... It's pretty obvious that Bill Gates (aka the richest man on earth), Microsoft's CEO, is certainly capable of foreseeing this so-called "shortage" and would've definitely enough resources to produce more Xbox 360s. Analysts believe that this shortage is a free publicity stunt. Look at all the hype generated and report after reports about Xbox 360 shortages and thieves pilfering Xbox 360s. It certainly is working for Microsoft... Now I'm not a detractor of Microsoft or a Sony zealot (I dont have a PS2)... Logically speaking, it's obvious that Microsoft had more than enough resources, and foresight, to overcome this shortage. They're just trying to create the demand... By Christmas, we might even be seeing Xbox 360s on our shores (of Singapore)...

I don't hate Microsoft, neither do I love Microsoft. Everyone knows that Microsoft, or at least the huge MNCs, are evil... They've dominated 99% of the home computers with Windows and to add to the revenue, they're making us pay for MS Office, they have their own game studios (Halo, Age of Empires, Rise of Nations) and their own console. Hm, even I think their marketting executive, Peter Moore, looks evil:

Oh darn, I lost my train of thoughts after finding the picture....

SO anyway, people are selling their Xbox 360s for WAY over the price and someone actually sold his for 3k!!! Some of the smarter ones got their 360 on the spot and resold it immediately to the crowd outside of the store... Some are crazy enough to go to that extent of forking out exorbitant (and absurdly enough) amounts of cash to get an Xbox 360 when a week of waiting, would've gotten their hands on one for a lower price... Hell, by next year, the price would've dropped! Those people certainly are desperate for some "Next-gen" goodness...

I on the other hand dont intend to get an Xbox 360... The current-gen games are expensive enough at 70 bucks each. Next-gen games are going to be MORE, probably 90 bucks I reckon... Anyways, lets just say I havent gotten enough out of this-gen... In my previous post, you know I've not finished Mercenaries, Burnout Revenge and barely scratched the surface of Winning Eleven 8... And I'm left playing WoW most of my days... It's true, WoW pwns all... So yeah, my Xbox is more or a less a white elephant for me... Well my bro plays the last level of Halo 2 and screws around with the Tartarus level again and again... I don't understand what so fun about killing Tartarus over and over again for 2 hours straight... He even found a Banshee in that level... Gee, I killed Tartarus once and it over and done with... He's playing Spiderman 2 now btw... Cousin lent it to us... He also plays Pokemon over and over again and thinks he's so big just he can pronounce what's-that-pokemon's-name and acting all smug when he knows when dragonair evolves and I don't.... Do I look like a Pokemon guidebook!? Pfft, little brothers... And the most annoying thing is that when I'd play Spiderman, he'll ask me to let him play saying he can do better and after much fuss, I give in, he comes back and starts whining to help him. And if I dont, he'll go to my mum and whine about it...

Huh oh what? Xbox 360! Yeah um... Perfect Dark Zero's a good game! Go check it out here. Too bad its for the Xbox 360... Like I care, I'm satisfied with WoW :) 4 more levels to 60 now... Oh, and I crit 1.6k today.... So scratch that old record... Ever since I respecced Feral, been seeing 1k crits over and over... Especially on those lowbie Horde that we were ganking in the Barrens... Haha, until this bunch of 60s came and spoiled the fun :S Yea, Zen and I would stealth into crossroads, ambush and ravage the low levels and run out before you could say "OMGWTFPWNED". We also killed Araj the Summoner today, this level 61 elite who was insanely difficult to kill. We wiped 3 times and it was really funny... First time, Xen went in and tried to tank Araj, I hit moonfire on Araj, two adds came after me and I died in a flurry. In the end, we wiped faster than you could say "OMGWTFPWNED" too :) We were like asking 60s to help us on general chat then this 50 warrior offered to help. So our group leader, a 60 warlock was being nice, he said ok, invited him to the raid and act as canon fodder. We started to summon him, the moment he spawned, the moment he APPEARED, he aggroed this bunch of mobs and we were caught offguard. Someone then went on to aggro Araj and mayhem was abound... Most of us survived in the end with only the person who aggroed Araj dying... It was so funny, I was laughing while fighting one of the mobs the 50 warrior aggroed... The group leader told him never to move an inch but of course he didnt listen and aggroed other stuff but they were nothing but brief and minor annoyances...

Oh dear, 1:30AM! Left less than 7 hours of sleep! Remember not to buy an Xbox 360 import unless you're out of your mind!
