My day Trip to Marseille

Today, Christina and I went to Marseille together…. And it is her birthday today!
First, we did the Château d,If in which it was a separate island from Marseille. We took a 25 minutes boat ride to get there. It was a prison and it had a beautiful story behind it by Alexandre Dumas ”The Count of Monte Cristo” Christina told me the book was great so I got a copy of it. It is…. Really thick. I wonder if I can ever finish it .=X

Before we went to the island, we saw this fish market by the Vieux port. It was nice, they had many different species of fishes.

Anyway, After our visit to the island we were suppppperrrrrr hungry… so, we went on to eat at Hippo! Hahahhhaaa my favourite restaurant in France. So yah…. I ate my hippo beef again and my favourite French onion soup…. After the wonderful meal, we went walking by the old port and to theCathedrale de La Major (Old Cathedral - registered as a National Heritage building in 1840). This Cathedral was really different from the other Cathedrals. It had some golden coloured designs on the wall that made it so beautiful and distinct. I liked it. Then, we walked around and was a little bored. So, we decided to take a metro to the Palais LONGCHAMP the fountain was so beautiful and old. I loved it. Then, Christina and I got a little tired and decided to take a short nap at the garden in the Palais LONGCHAMP. And…. We headed for the movie Theatre! We watched an film in engish. “Jeux de Dupes” this show had a very ancient setting and it was about football but I liked it. It was so different. And it so nice to experience the theatre at least once.

After the movie, We walked around the town it was already 8pm, many shops were closed so, we headed for Mac for dinner… and then, that is how we ended our trip at Marseille.

Overall the trip was good , but Marseille was just another big city. I wished I had gone for the Frioul Islands instead of visiting the old city. I still think that Château d,If and Palais LONGCHAMP are the most interesting things I saw today! Loved it.

I love london

I AM BACK FROM LONDON!
London is such an ancient place with rich history. BTW, for those people who thought that I will miss my flight coz I am careless… Sorry to disappoint u. Hahhahahaha.

Ok… here is what I did for my trip:

DAY 1: Touched down at London’s Luton airport, took a train to black Friars and then, a bus to Victoria coach station to meet up with Auntie Suzanne and Steph.(they are very friendly and nice people.)(thank you so much for your help!) they took me to my hostel and Steph was so nice, she helped me carry my heavy bag pack- that is giving me shoulder aches now. =(
After that, we headed down to Lecester square (China town) New World restaurant for Dim Sum. Yummy.! I am missing authentic Chinese food soooooo much!
Then, we headed down to embankment tube and saw the night scenes of London. I saw BIG BEN, took the London Eye flight. It was SOooooooo beautiful. I love London.! Then, we walked around for awhile and headed home. Because Auntie Suzanne and Steph is headed down south of london the next day and needed rest.

DAY 2: Woke up at 7am, took a heavy BUFFET breakfast and waited patiently for Dee… that was one of the guide that brought me for the Old City Tour in London.
We reached tower hill and my tour guide was Oily. He is such a charismatic Guy.! With this funny hair-do(like Elvis). It was raining heavily that day and Oily brought us around, braving the wind and rain. (It was a fantastic tour) I met a Girl from LA ; Terra. She is so nice. She waited for me as I was always the last person walking in the tour. (I was busy taking pictures!) hee- Then, I headed to Lecester square; Wong Kei Restaurant for a bowl of Soya chicken noodles. The noodles was not so soft as I hoped it would be.. but… I love the soup base and Chinese vegetable.
Then, I went to convent garden market. It is like our Bugis street where you can find very interesting graffiti clothes, bags etc…lots of buskers and food too.
Then, I Headed down to Oxford circles for shopping! It’s a long street of shopping brightly-lit like our Orchard Road. Went around Soho to find…. The Gays? But maybe I was too early. 6pm so… I did not see any around. I was dead beat, so headed back to my hostel straight. Met a brazalian lady (Marcia), and I spent my 3rd day in London with her.

DAY 3: Woke up later because I was really very tired from all the walking. Had my breakfast at the hostel again , with Marcia. We went for the Royal walking tour together and then, had our lunch at Wong Kei again because I had craving for Char siew duck Rice. Lolx! Marcia Ate Beancurd vege rice. She is such a small eater. Anyway, we then headed down to Madam Tussauds(the wax museum) at bakers Street and Had a GREAT time there. The execution path we walked was really scary and the London ride is the best ride I have ever sat in my life.! (Rating: 10/10.)
Was tired and headed to the science museum and natural history museum which is just opposite my hostel to see the night scenes. So.. that’s the end of my 3rd day.

DAY 4: Woke up late again, took breakfast and headed down to Tottenham Court road for HILLSONGS LONDON. The praise and worship is good! Wheet-weeet!!
The people are so friendly.
Headed to Kensington Garden and Palace for some Sunshine. Did not go in though.. becase I had to catch my 6.20pm flight.
That is the end of my trip! 4 days in London is NOT ENOUGH…. So…. Yes… I must make a trip down with mummy and daddy next month. =D

Learning points from my London trip:

-It is just so nice to travel in an English speaking country
- Communication barrier really affects your whole trip
-People in London are friendly and extremely helpful
-Travelling alone is super fun and exciting
-To be independent(time management)
-God is protecting me and have path right and nice people for my trip. Making it extremely enjoyable.
- Learn to open my eyes and find directions.!

-I can’t wait to go back to London Again!!!

My 2nd last day in barcelona!

This morning started out rather sad for me. Because.. Winnie and i had some disputes regarding her excessive shopping resulting in us not being to complete our chocolate museum. But... that turned for the better after lunch when we learnt to respect each otherś interest. So, we splited up for personal time. That is a GOOD practice.
Today, I managed to see a wet market which was quite interesting. I saw huge GREEN eggs, lots of cheese, meat and seafood. We went to the Museu de historic. Where we saw how Barcelona come this far . 2000 years of history. Interesting fact: Snails represent ressuraction. And, the people of barcino wore vines on their hands and a bull design necklace to ward off evil.

The most disgusting thing that i saw in the museum is this.....we saw the bones of this baby that was squeezed into a small urn during the war time.

After the museum, we went by this ancient market that sold old stuff... i din see much of it...as it was kinda boring. but... i saw this busker outside the cathedral de barcelona .. plucking his guitar.. playing the spanish song by jennifer lopez.. I was mesmorized by his playing of the guitar. HE is SOOOOOO good! I would probably get his CD tomorrow.

Ok... then, we went to the beach next....... the sea here is Enchanting! Jiralda and I took of our shoes and went crazy at the beach! when my feets touched the sea waters.. it felt...... goooooood! i enjoyed every mintue by the sea...

then we headed to the travellerś bar for our free drink! Barcelonaś special drink.. it tasted like red wine and beer mixed. It was not to our liking so we headed back to our hostel.

So... now im here at the hostel with 14 poeple behind me. drinking! oh man... gotta run back to my room. because when they get drank... they wiĺl start to wanna take pictures with u... so... dats all folks!

Barcelona rocks!

Guys, i am now in SPAIN barcelona. It is such a beautiful, ancient place. The amazing architect Gaudi has really made barcelona a nice place. today, i went to the casa museu, where Gaudi lived, seeing his famous artworks. he practically designed everything in his home...from his house structure to...his own furniture in his home and the cupboards etc...he is so amazing! We went to the garden around that also showed case his artworks! nice! we saw the famous lizard there...and hisMosiac arts- that is what gaudi is practially famous for.

We went to a hospital which is one of the attractions also. and... the hospital is still in operation.. really cool. gothic hospital.. yes... very different from our usual hospitals in singapore.

We also went to the Sagrada Familla! ...... jir, win and i came out of the metro and went like. WOW!!!!!! though the place is still in construction, but we still went in to take a couple of photos and visited the museum in it. This building is also by Gaudi. What i really liked about this building is that it showcases the bible on the building itself.! Parts of the bible.... where Peter Denied Jesus 3 times before the the cock crowed? meaning... before 5am in the morning. Also, the scene where the 3 wise men presented their gifts... when Jesus was borned? All these ..... are just so interesting and meaningful to me.

Also, my trip here is great, we got to know a teacher from Norway. She is a christian too and she listens to pastor princes messages. she went for his conference! she shared with us how Pastor princes messages has actually touched and impacted her life especially brought her out of her dark days.. oh man... this is God Planned. and she just sleeps right beside me.. hehehehe.
we went for lunch with her today and we learnt alot from norwagienś culture. amazing!
Other than the teacher.. we met an australian guy and a china lady. They were friendly. It s so nice to meet people all around the world. hahaha by the way... the australian guy was so cute.. hated it that he left so early. else i would have gotten his contact! hahahaha.

Ok.. i am just so into Spain now.. and i dun want to go home! I may wanna consider living my life like a ang mo.. Work and travel at the same time. See the world and experience life!

I really think now that Asians are so pampered and closed within our country. The world out there is big and i want to explore it bit by bit with my life....i wish i can just dedicate my life to travelling around the world.(My new founded hobby)

Mid term quizes results are Out!

Ok... since i was half hearted in my studying because i was at Paris! i can consider that i did ok. Stats business quiz 42.5/50
Stats Mid Term 81/100
Macro quiz 20/20
French- i heard i passed it!(surprisingly)

I seem to be studying very hard here... maybe because it s a university and there seems to be tons on quizes and mid terms pouring in.But my policy sticks. (No test, No study) opps.

Dad, mum... i did ok rite... dont worry. i'll study harder next time.

Now....
For the past week, i've been really busy planning my trip to barcelona. I will be there 17th feb till 22th feb. and i am so excited! on man.... I was suppose to do the planning this time. but .. i was so busy with the quizes, Jiralda has gone on doing the planning i guess. =X babE i love u. !

My journey here in France has been so blessed! We manage to go for a chocolate fair at At Antibes without our knowledge there was such an event going on.. We just wanted to walk to the market and have a look. but. Ta-ta........ we went to the chocolate fair. There were many exquisite chocolates, carvings of the effiel tower... a nokia handphone , puzzles etc... it was cool!

And... our trip to barcelona is a blessing in itself. Because.... we planned to travel this evening to barcelona... in which Jiralda and Winni have to skip their HRM class on friday. But because Jiralda wanted to go for HRM class becasue the lecturer was going to give a briefing on the Mid Term guidelines, she insisited that she did not want to skip class and so... our planned shifted back our trip till sunday. AND.... guess wad... Because of that..... we are able to travel to Nice for the"Carnival de Nice"for the flower fight event or something. Yes... see... Daddy God is working in ways we cannot see..

So this time.. its Jiralda, Winnie and I....... to Barcelona!

BTW, Rae(I'll miss u), Faizal, V, John, Jage... take care at London.. Bon Voyage!

Mot.... thanks for the Ear Rings! love u!

Valentines day is coming and i am missing my love ones so much..... including my little son LARRY!

Take care my love ones! and... Happy Valentines day!

Paris Trip!

I am Back at Antibes! Have been to Paris since Thursday morning and touched down yesterday morning. Though I have lots of test and mid terms coming on, I managed to study a little through my trip and my Macro test was still manageable. Next is French mid term tomorrow and Stats mid term on Wednesday. Don’t worry mum dad, I am mugging like mad. I wun fail u. Have studied most of it before I left for Paris!

Our first day at Paris was worrying because Winnie booked a room in a3 star hotel room for 2 and 4 of us girls are suppose to squeeze in it. But the receptionist did not kind of allowed it. So, it was the WORRY of THE DAY. Rae kept saying she had a bad feeling that we will not have a room to sleep for the next 2 nights and blah blah. She kept grabbing my laptop to search for hostels. But because the hostels were at the outskirts of Paris, it will definitely disrupt our itinerary. So, yah.. but of coz, Jiralda and I felt peace in our hearts right after we prayed and I kept taking my lappy back from Rae and told her to Relax.. we will be fine. Thank God ! and the receptionalist managed to conviced her manager and allowed the 4 of us to stay in the room. All of us squeezed into a king size bed and hahahhaa… horror starts.. u can imagine right. Flying kicks and hands flying.. lolx. Some fell to the floor coz it was too squeezy etc. hahahahaa
Paris- 3 degrees
DAY 1-, we placed our bags at our hotel and went for lunch. Winnie ate the salmon set at a restaurant and Rae ate a burger set .I was feeling unwell from the flight so, I did not eat my lunch. Then, we went on to Notre Dame Towers and the Cathedral. We climbed 482 steps up the tower and the view was scenic. We managed to see Eiffel Tower from there.Freezing cold up there.
The cathedral was nothing special, all cathedrals are the same I guess. Then, we went around walking..shopping. Dinner was nothing but sandwich with tarts and a boisson(drink).

DAY 2- We went to see the Eiffel Tower and the palace nearby. But it was raining heavily and we bet the view will not be good, so we did not take the lift up the Effiel tower. 11.50 Euros. Very Ex. Because it was a rainy day, all of us were freezing cold and did not have the mood to see any other attraction sites. So, we went for lunch at Hippopotamus. I ate a 2 course meal, $15.90 Euros. Starter- French Onion Soup, Main Course- Fine beef. You can eat all the garnishes and side dishes. I ate one big Potato and ordered lots of garnished. The scallot garnish seems to be the famous thing is Paris! Yummy. Then, we went on shopping till evening before we went into the Museum.(FOC) We saw lots of famous paintings. Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Egyptian’s art and jewellerys like the crown of European kings etc…..going into that museum makes me wan to just stop studying and just be an artist. Hahahahaha. Imagine. Da Vinci took 5 years to draw Mona Lisa and yet he did not complete it before he died…. France is a place with rich history. Every building here seems to have a history. Even The Metro(the mrt) is 200 years old. Cool huh.! I love Paris!

I bought a roxy sling cum computer bag for only 9 Euros. It’s a steal man.lolx. hee-

DAY 3- We went to the World’s Largest Flea market. ok. There was nothing to buy. To me, its just old things there. But of coz, there were exceptionally old televisions and radios that we can see. Interesting. We were hungry and headed to Hippo again for our lunch. This time I was not really hungry so I shared my meal with Jiralda. The Hippo was another branch. Crowded but the food and service was not up to standard. There was hair in the food, onion soup was diluted, the service crew was slow, took wrong order of food. Oh man… bad bad bad. Thumbs down.

We went for our afternoon shopping, saw the Cleo Petra’s Needle and then to the Ark at night. 2 Feb 08 was a special night. At the ark, the soldiers at Paris commemorate the deaths of the people who died in the world war 1. There was a marching scene and giving of flowers to the tomb. We went to the top of the Ark and saw the night scene of Paris! NICE! Ok, that’s all I’m writing for now. Hungry. Lunch time! Will post my pictures up soon. After my row of test.

No Chinese new year for me =(

Italy and monaco!

Have been really busy these days.tons of Quizes are pouring in and yet I am still travelling out out out all the time. I have decided that next week will be a BREAK week for myself… To recuperate my health back and also to catch up with school work. Thursday, I went to nice to see the sweet factory, Saturday with the school to Italy and Monaco…..and Yesterday, I went to the CIRCUS! Wow. It was such an eye opening experience. We went for the finals of the circus competition. We saw, seals, tigers, ponys, horses, elephants and people from all over the world performing their extraordinary gymnasiam spirit. On man… there was this girl that can hold her body weight with her teeth. A guy who can cycle a bicycle on a string. OMG! It was fun. But… hahaha our route there was tough. We walked out through the wrong exit from the train station and we ended up stucked by the Car racing activity that had blocked the short cut route for us .Hence, we had to walk one big round. We tried to hitch a ride but because we were in too big a group. 5 people. No car was willing or able to fetch us up. So…. We walked there.! There was this family that we saw…. (the boy had a clown’s face on) and we asked them if they were going to the circus and if we could follow them. And they led us to the carpark and asked us if we had a car. We were exhilarated that we have found someone to lead the way to the circus. But our hopes were smashed! The person had 2 cars but was totally unwilling to fetch us when winnie asked him for a ride. He acted dumb. Wadeva!

So yah… I have walked A LOT since I am here and I am so glad I bought myself a good pair of shoes before I come for this trip. OR ELSE… I am so dead. That day to the sweet factory… we walked at least 5km. And the SATURDAY’s trip to Monaco and ITALY… hahahaha. Another 2 km? and yesterday… 3km? OH MAN we are having workouts everyday! Hahahahaa.

My Italy and Monaco trip was FUN! We went to Italy’s SANREMO MARKET. I bought a fake belt . Gucci. Oh man.. cheap cheap. Also, we went to the Mediterranean sea side for lunch….. and we went to MONTE CARLO. We went to the cathedral, palace and Casino. And I bought some gold coins. Really nice ones that show the areas that I have gone to. The casino was smoky and looked like an adult arcade. Though I still prefer the Normal arcade. But of coz… it is cool to enter the famous Monte Carlo casino.

Will be posting pictures up soon.!

Rae says that my cooking has improved! hehehehe.....Because i had to do my HRM readups before lesson, I did not go to the Ceram SA's buddy party. So, Jiralda n I ended up home alone... and we chatted all night instead of studying. hehe. slept at 1.30am. and i am so tired now... Singapore... i am missing u.

Sunday was a great day, winnie managed to borrow the vaccum cleaner frm the counter. Which is of great help to me because…. I cannot sweep the floor clean with the lousy broom we have.! Ok.. yes.. I am bad at doing housework too I admit. =X anyway, Sunday was a boring day, we did our cleaning, washing.. and this time, jiralda was here to help! No church…. We were all tired from our trip to nice.. Shopping. I only bought a shirt and winnie’s damage was like 600 euros. And we’ve only shopped half the streets. Yes.. and we are going back this Thursday again for shopping. But I am not gonna buy much. We will probably be visiting a candy factory … Hahahahahaa my favourite. And we’ll have a guided tour and free testing I heard. So yah. I am so excited.!
Life here is not easy for me. The cleaning, washing , cooking buying my own groceries, managing my school work and planning my travelling trips are tough for me. Its taxing because somehow our group here have lots of disagreements in terms of rental and stuff. Some feel that we should be united and rent should be shared by all. Some feel that the extra 200 euros that they have to pay are not worth it. So…yah… lots of unhappiness. But! I decided to pay my own rent which will lessen my friend’s load… and we have decided on the split in rent. Girls room, and boys room kind of split. Though I have to pay more, but I believe that I pay for what I use. So yah. Its justifiable. Anyway, I am just hoping that this dark cloud will pass soon and we’ll all be happy like we just came here.

Yesterday, I cooked my very first fried rice with sausages and my second plate of Chinese cabbage with oyster sauce. Thank u Rae for teaching me how to cook! I think I’m getting better. (a little)

Mummy, daddy, I am missing home so much.! Now I can appreciate all I have…the maid, the constant meals on the table when I reach home, the clean clothes and well fed dogs when I wake up….I can’t wait to come home..!

I am missing Larry so much.

I miss my princess life in Singapore.

I am missing my friends and u..

Bad night!

Anybody wans to know how suay i was yesterday. Ok. i was at school printing notes for the lectures. and whe i left it was about 7.15pm
it was pitch dark that i could not even walk the short cut route. then it was raining cats and dogs so i decided to run to the nearest bus stop(using the long route) from school instead of the usual ceram bustop since i din have an unbrella with me. And guess what. The Last bus Went pass me without stopping and i was stranded at Sophia Antipolis. I wanted to cry so badly, but i told myself... shirleen u are a big girl... u have daddy God with you. Dont worry. Í contemplated on whether to hitch a ride or call for a tazi but the taxi ride here is expensive. like 5 mins ride... 12 euros. so yah.. i was pondering and i deceided to walk to the beram bus stop and there i saw 2 china exchange student too and they too missed the last bus. luckily they stayed at antibes and we shared the cab together. allowing me to save $60.
the total ride cost me 15 euros.... It was supposed to be 45 euros if we din share and it was only a 10 mins ride. OMG!
i felt the pinch....
I went home soaked and upset. and i had a french quiz today.. so i was home late... and din even want to bathe since i was in a bad mood. I ate instant baked rice for dinner and winnie and geralda was laughing at me for my small appetite that night. saying that the 15 euros burnt my pocket and i was trying to save the money back by eating lesser. but NO. thats not the case babes. i was just in a bad mood. Ate my dinner, studied abit and voila.... slept till this morning.

Ok, class is starting.. will be posting pics up soon. Stay tune.
