Post Kronos!

hi all!
SO. we've survived kronos, syf and the WHOLE shebang. how did we do it? i'll never know.
i would like to thank ALL YOU STRINGERS out there in making this year so worth it!
i've grown really attached to all of you people and i really wanna keep all of us in touch!
thats one of the reasons why i've started this blog. for past, present and future stringers to keep as a whole. ok enough with the sentimentalities. time to fill you guys in!

1) we MIGHT (i repeat might) be playing for an aldersgate service. if so, we'll have a practice on friday and play next tuesday. haha fast no? but we can SO so it!
2) our(the j2s) VERY last performance will be for national day, aNddd ladies and gentlemen, we will be sawing away in the HALL with the choir and band! finally you say? haha yes. As this date is so close to the prelims, the j2s will only be called down for 2 rehearsals max so you can STUDY. not play dota or some other rubbish. haha
3) interviews for committee positions will start in term 3 week 1, so please use the june hols to think about what position you want to run for. it is compulsory for ALL stringers to nominate a position for themselves.
4) finally, the fun anouncement. there will be a strings barbeque at MY(wayne's) house on the 18th of June(saturday). hopefully all of you will be free. if you can go can you please tag on the board? it will be around 6+ and i will be forcing all of you to have fun. to qualify to come for this barbeque, you'll have to be able to play a four stringed musical instrument of some sort. however badly.

Now that our season is over, i'm really glad that i DID pick to run for president. you guys made it a good job to do! haha so get back to me about the 4th notice yup. and check the board! i''ll post the notice for the next rehearsal. soon.

A viola player decides that he's had enough of being a viola player--unappreciated, all those silly jokes. So he decides to change instruments.
He goes into a shop, and says, "I want to buy a violin."
The man behind the counter looks at him for a moment, and then says, "You must be a viola player."
The viola player is astonished, and says, "Well, yes, I am. But how did you know?"
"Well, sir, this is a fish-and-chip shop."

established string quartet requires 2 violinists and a violist.

hey guys...today's practice was... ... ... super tiring.
...heh...

got a few comments though...i hope that everyone is as serious abt kronos as much as syf, if not more... i think we should really put on a GWH standard...no...in fact we should put on a platinum with honours standard...

tickets are sold out... people are coming to hear US play... we should be practising doubly, triply hard... and some ppl, including seniors, can't even get tickets... it's really quite rare... perhaps we should hold kronos somewhere bigger next year.

string.e has always and is still being blessed...
(1) the gold is a blessing.
(2) having mr. tan as conductor is a blessing as chan is pretty busy with his other commmitments...
(3) our dear and dedicated committee members are a blessing.
(4) so are the rest of the dedicated string players...
(5) the mdms and many more...

perhaps we should work towards and aim to bond string.e closer together...perhaps a chalet or sth would be good? meals are always good for bonding too...got to know a really cute albeit a-little-cheeky boy this afternoon during lunch...(benjamin... just don't delete that sms yah?? *grins*)... jiang lai, dawn and andris will know what i'm referring to...

also, i remember that during my time (yesyes grandmother story...) we were constantly being compared by chan to "the people at the other orch" and he kept on saying how we are soooo quiet whereas they are full of energy blah blah blah...

perhaps it was us being too quiet or too inanimate that "chased" the previous conductor away? haha...it's only a thought...perhaps the guys can consider including mr. tan in their male-bonding tau-pok-ing sessions... =p

i guess string practices were quite tiring for us then cos it came at the end of a super long day (the same exhausted looks are still present on current players on tues nights as observed by some seniors...=) )

ultimately we are all in it for the music...it's good to turn up for all the practices and try to keep absentee rate to the minimum... to quote, "we have very little time left"... it's really a rare coincidence that syf and kronos should be so close to each other...and we should really be (or look like we're) enjoying ourselves. and since it's THIS close to Kronos...let's all give our best!
