Ribbon

I've had a very productive day today and managed to get a lot of things checked off of my "things to do list." Which is always nice, but it means I'm a tad sleepy.
So I'm just settling down for the night but really wanted to pop by and say a quick "HELLO"
I wanted to share with you some lovely little crafty supplies that my little sister gave me last week when she came to visit. ..... Some adorable ribbon!!

I don't think it could be any cuter!

My favourite is this one with the soldiers, I think it's so sweet.

And a bag full of buttons :-) I was rather happy to receive new buttons as my supply is running short and they are sooooooo expensive here in Germany. They will definitely come in handy!

I believe she bought all of these cute gifts from The Makery Emporium in Bath. Its one of my favourite little shops from home! Thank you Hannah!!!

Anyways.... Sorry it's only a short one from me tonight. I'll be back soon!

Fox Scarf

Last week when sipping on my usual morning coffee and sleepily browsing the internet, I stumbled upon an absolute dream of a crochet project.

I found this project on one of the facebook pages I follow, and was smitten the moment I saw it! I knew I'd be making one of these bad boys sometime very soon.
It's a fox scarf by Beeskneesknitting and the pattern can be found on her Etsy shop along with many other gorgeous creations.

It was when showing pictures of this project to a friend and seeing him also fall in love with it that made me rush out and buy the yarn. I just had to make it!!! In fact I have three planned....One for me, one for my friend Adam, and one for my little sister, Hannah.

I chose to use Soft Merino wool, as the colours seemed perfect! It's also a total dream when worked up and draped around your neck and is perfect for the cold months here in Hamburg.
I  also bought some bright shiny eyes from the craft store, they seemed appropriate for a red haired fox!

Then I began working up a foxy frenzy!
The pattern was extremely simple and easy to follow. I  had a little concern about the changing of colours at the beginning of the pattern. I thought it may be too tricky and the result would be me throwing a strop! Nothing to worry about! It was all plain sailing and I was chuffed to bits with the results!!

Once the head was complete, it was time to add on the bright glass eyes. They certainly added some character.

Then some ears.... The ears were made separately and then sewn on to the head of the fox.

Once I was passed working up the head of the fox, I added the front legs to this menacing character.

The legs were attached and it was time for the main section of the scarf to be worked up. This section was very simple and extremely soothing to crochet. Row after row of thick luxurious wool. MMMMMMMMMMMM!!

Finally another pair of legs was added and a tail was created to finish off this fox perfectly.

Makes me smile just looking at these pictures!
Of course I couldn't let my sister be in town and not have her model her new fox scarf.

I am beyond pleased with how this scarf turned out! I've finished one for Hannah (she loves it!)  and will be finishing off the other to post to Adam later this week.

Maybe I'll wait with making mine until later in the year, ready for next winter. The thought of this cute scarf keeping me snuggly and warm thrills me endlessly!! (it does't take much!)

and the WINNER is...

I've got to say, that was a lot of fun having a little competition here on the blog! 

Many of you were very keen to get your hands on this lovely set of crochet hooks!

I can't say I blame you! I just wish I could send each and everyone of you a set.  Then again, that would be a little too easy and there would be no fun in having a competition. 

I was swamped with guesses as to how many beads I had in my jar. Some people were very close with their guesses, others were way off the mark! :-)

Shall I put you out of your misery and tell you how many beads were in the jam jar?

A couple of people actually guessed the correct amount, so clever! However, the FIRST person to guess the correct amount was the lovely Juniperjune from Long Beach California!!!

I'm quite excited by the fact these hooks will be making such a big journey!

Hello gorgeous people! Did you have a nice Valentines Day, I do hope so? A dozen red roses and chocolates from your special someone?.....

I was hoping to get this post up to you yesterday, but time really got the better of me. As per usual things have been a little hectic, but hectic in a very good way!
I've been busy playing host. I've had a friend from London come to visit and had a jolly good time catching up and reminiscing on past times. Now my family are here for the weekend! It's so nice having Mum, Dad and my lil' sister here in Hamburg, I'm sure we are going to have a super weekend!

Here's what I wanted to share with you yesterday:

Out of all of the different brands of crochet hooks I've tried, these fit best to me.  They are "Knit Pro Symfonie" hooks and I adore them. I've made many a project with these hooks:

Working with wooden hooks seems to suit me best. They feel so nice when working up a crochet storm! They really are my favourite and I guess thats why I'm so excited to be giving them away to one lucky reader.....Yes that's right!!! We're having a little competition/giveaway!!! WOOOOP!!!

loveknitting.com is a fabulous website and resource for all of your yarn related crafting supplies. A little bit of love

Good evening lovely people!! I can't believe we're well and truly into the month of February! The first 9 days of the month have flown by and it's only now that I find the time to come and say a quick "hello".
I've been a busy bee! Lots of things going on at work and so my much loved hobby time has been dramatically reduced!
Everything is good though, as I have had a little time to fit in a lovely little valentines project. A project which thrills me bucket loads!

Here, I'll show you:

I've been making some felted hearts! SUCH FUN!
It's the first time I have ever tried needle felting and I have enjoyed it immensely! I decided to give it a whirl after I received some gorgeously vibrant felting wool for my Birthday last year.

I wasn't really sure what to do with felting wool, but after a google search I discovered that it could be felted and formed into many things with the help of a very lethal needle!

I say "lethal" as I have stabbed myself a few too many times whilst working on this project. These needles REALLY hurt when going into your finger! Not only sharp and pointed, but barbed as well!!! OUCH!

As this was my first time needle felting, I read that it would be easier to get a better shape and less stab wounds by using a cookie cutter to help form the desired shape. 

I had seen in a recent issue of "Mollie makes magazine" some very cute felted hearts and decided to also to make hearts. 

The actual felting process was extrmely simple. Tear of a lump of wool and place it into the heart shaped cookie cutter.

Gently stab at the wool until it starts to fit to the cookie cutter shape.
I was gentle at first but once the wool was a little felted I was able to be a little rougher. Great stress relief stabbing at the wool! Stab, stab, stab until the wool was nicely shaped and pretty dense.

Cute huh!

I had a lot of fun playing around with lots of different colours and sizes.  However, in the end I decided to stick mainly to traditional valentines pinks and reds.

Once I had made an assortment of hearts I raided my bead collection for some happy beads to jazz up my little project!

Some little bells for a finishing touch

and pretty embroidery thread to join everything together!

Here's what I made! Cute little Valentines ornaments, ready to hang and send to friends I hold close to my heart.

I added buttons to a couple of them, just for an extra special touch.

This one is for a very special friend of mine, It's my favourite :-)

I'm going to post it off to her and keep my fingers crossed that it arrives by Valentines Day. I hope that when she receives it, it will brighten up her day!
