Catching Up: May

By the time May rolled around we were starting to feel a little more settled in our new house.  Softball and soccer continued and we just rolled with the punches and pretty much made it through in survival mode as we managed a new baby, still-unpacked boxes, and an already busy schedule with end-of-school activities thrown on top.  But we did it!

Alex ran the Ogden Marathon again and got rained on again (I think it's a sign he should stop running that one!) but it wasn't quite as bad as last year.  A few days later he hopped on a plane to Boston for the convention.  It was a success as usual!  He works really hard pretty much all year for the convention and it's great to see how it all comes together.

We went to the dance festival at Eaglecrest.  It's one of my favorite events of the year.  It was Alli's last year doing it, which made me sad.  Alli's group did Boogie Woogie Bugle Boys, Holly's did a Newsies medley, Brynne's did We Go Together from Grease, and Tyson's did Supercalifragilisticexpialidocius.  Tyson practiced his a hundred times a day at home until we all had it memorized.

Next up was Alli's 6th grade graduation.  She won an award for outstanding PE student and also won the Hope of America Award which was a HUGE honor!  Each 6th grade teacher chooses just one boy and one girl and I was so proud of her for getting that.  She absolutely deserves it.

With Josh Lyman, the boy from her class that also won the award.

 Her fabulous teacher, Mrs. Parkinson!

Last day of school!!  Pictures taken at a different front door than the first day pictures.

WE DID IT!!!

Alli went to a NOVA swim party after school and the rest of us went to our old neighborhood for the big inflatable water slide party.  Great end to a great month!

Alli turns TWELVE!

Oh boy, I was definitely not prepared to have a 12 year old.  Somehow that makes me feel old.  But it happened despite my begging her to not let it, so we had a celebration!  Thanks to some gift cards from our loan officer when we closed on our house, we decided to have her party at Boondocks.  Abbey and Brandon were able to come down for it and we spent a good 3 hours just having the best time.  The girls got dinner, opened presents, played arcade games and laser tag, did the race track, and then we finished with ice cream and took everyone home.  It was a great party because everyone had a blast and I had to do nothing for it but drive there and take pictures.  Win win win!!!

Alli has some really great friends and I love that they are good influences on her.

Opening presents!

Waiting for laser tag: Brandon, Holly, Alayna, Dakota, Brooke, Alli, Abbey, Sammi, Isis, Lexi, and Lauren.

We decided to give Alli an ipod touch for her birthday and I love this series of pictures when she opened it:

Alli is a dream child.  I keep waiting for the raging teenager side to come but I honestly don't think she'll be too bad. (Or maybe wishful thinking?) But she is responsible and sweet and eager to be a good person and I love her.
