I was going back through our pictures for the month of July and I was absolutely surprised how much we crammed in. Looking back I have to say that it was one of the funnest months I can remember. I was flipping through the pictures and thought that is a pretty cool way to remember all the fun times...so I put it to music. Most of you are in these pictures, so I that is probably why the month was so much fun. A lot of these pictures were taken by Liz (thanks for leaving them on our computer).

Pacific Southwest Regionals - Day 3
It all ended...very ugly. Lagoona beat up on us pretty bad. We were playing with them for 2 innings. After 2 the score was Lagoona 4 / Delta 2. In the 3rd they added a bunch and the 4th a few more. Final score 20-2. Not a good note to end on. Despite it all it was a worthwhile experience for the boys. They learned a lot and made some friends.

Pacific Southwest Regionals - Day 2
Los Altos - 12
Delta -2
Another tough loss.
Here is the break down for our pool
Central California 2 wins 0 losses (wins over Northern CA and Southern UT)
Northern California 1 win 1 loss (Win over Southern CA loss to Central CA)
Southern California 1 win 1 loss (Win over Southern UT loss to Northern CA)
Southern Utah 0 wins 2 losses (Losses to Central and Southern CA)
It would take a huge win over Northern CA tomorrow for us to place 3rd in our pool. If we ended up with a tie for win-loss it would probably come down to runs scored. With only 2 scored so far we would have to destroy Northern CA to make up the difference.
Well that was a positive take.
Win or lose it has been a good experience for these boys.

Pacific Southwest Regionals - Day 1
Here we are in Fallon, NV. It has been an enjoyable experience for the boys so far. The pool play started yesterday. We are still trying to figure out how random the pool selection was. There are 2 pools with 4 teams each. Our pool is Delta, Central California, Northern California, and can you guess the 4th team? Yeah, that's right, Southern California. The other pool is Highland, UT and 3 Nevada teams. Oh, did I mention that Nevada only has 4 teams playing in the Cal Ripken 11 year old 70 ft league? So we are definitely in the toughest pool. That isn't so bad, I mean a good challenge is always interesting, but they are eliminating the 4th place team from each pool before tournament play even starts. Anyway enough whining...

The first game last night was against Central California (Bakersfield). By far the best team in the tournament. We knew going in that, if we had a shot, it was our defense that would have to win it. Unfortunately, "it" didn't show up until the second inning. Bakersfield jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning. We had runners on in every inning, we just couldn't get them home.
We held them in the 2nd and only allowed 1 run in the 3rd. Final damage: 11-0, 10 runned in the 4th.
It looks like our best chance for a win will be today against Los Altos (Southern California). Good team, but none of their boys look like they have been juicing.
Look at the size of their catcher (squatting he is almost as tall as David) and 1st baseman. There was only one kid on the team that was even close to our boys sizes. They probably out weighed us 2 or 3 to 1.

No matter what happens, it will be a good experience for these boys. More later

Summer Fun 2009
Here's our summer in snapshot(s)...ballgames, Hogle Zoo, Discovery Gateway, Clark Planetarium, Living Planet Aquarium, The Mayan Adventure, Utah Natural History Museum, This is the place, Thanksgiving Point, 4th of July... whew, we still have a month to go before school starts. I am tired all over again just thinking about it.
All of this brought to you by:
Baseball, Apple Pie, and Fallon Nevada?

What would summer be without baseball? If you are the parent of a player this time of year, the answer is, "a whole lot less expensive!", but in the same breath you would have to say, "pretty boring". So after chasing David to practices, games, and tournaments for the last 2 months, his team competed at the 11 year old (70ft) Utah South State tournament this last weekend. His team is very talented and it all came together for them. For the tournament, you could count the errors made by the team on one hand.
David is playing centerfield, and while he will be the first to tell you it isn't his favorite position, he played extremely well. In the closest game, (1 point win in extra innings) David caught all four of the balls hit to him. Definitely could have been the difference in the game. In the championship game their bats were very active as they destroyed a very talented team from Vernal 22 to 7!
Look at those trophies, they are almost as big as the boys...
We've had a blast watching them and look forward (well sort of...) to the trip to Fallon, Nevada to watch them represent Utah at the Pacific Southwest Regional Tournament.

Traditions are great, especially the 4th of July in Delta, but I have to wonder if you do the same thing every year, when do you try new things...
Here it is:

Alaska
We just took an amazing cruise to Alaska for our 15th Anniversary (Coming up June 10th). Yeah I know, "how in the heck has Amy stuck with that guy for so long?" We had a blast. We spent a couple days in Seattle mooching off of Chris and Royal (Amy's Aunt and Uncle - Thank you so much.)

Beautiful Seattle skyline...

We actually saw the Mariners win!
And then spent 7 days on the Golden Princess cruising through the inside passage.

Alaska was wonderful -
Amazing Adventures

Zip lining ...2 miles of fun... -Juneau

Exploring the Meade Glacier - Skagway.

Snorkeling in the cold Alaskan water -Ketchikan
Amazing Scenery

Mendenhall Glacier - Juneau

Purple Cast
Abi is so excited to almost get her cast off. She has learned to move rather well with it on and I even caught her jumping on the trampoline. I was determined to get a picture of her moving quickly with her cast. Yesterday, Grandpa's new puppy attacked her and for some reason she can't move again. She says he scratched her foot inside the cast. Oh well. Just three more days and she can get it off. She didn't want anyone to write letters, just pictures. She was rather upset with David when he signed his name by his picture. She used Grandma Louise's walker for a bit at first, but we couldn't keep Kadee off of it.

Bubble Fracture
We used to worry that David was all we blogged about, but lately it seems Abi has been the busy bee. David, Alexis and Abi were jumping after school when I looked out and saw Abi bawling and clutching her Knee on the tramp. She wouldn't straighten it. She cried for half an hour, fell asleep (restless) for about 45 minutes and woke up screaming. I took her to the emergency room. We were all hoping for a hyper extended knee, but no luck. The x-rays were kind of hard to tell so he compared it to her good knee and found two spots that looked bad. She just has it in a splint, but we will get a cast Friday or Monday. Full leg. I will post pictures. Anyway, I hope Kadee likes to walk cuz I'll be carrying Abi EVERYWHERE!

Jr High State Wrestling
We spent last weekend in Richfield...again...watching David wrestle...again...in the Utah Jr. High State Championships. He wrestled at 73 lbs in the Middle School Division (5th and 6th grades). After placing 4th last year he had his sights set on a gold medal. He tore apart some tough competition on his way to the championship match, only to meet the kid who beat him in the semi-finals last year. After 2 grueling days (my butt is still sore), he had to settle for second. Nothing to feel bad about and we are very proud of him. See the results here:

Delta took first place for the 4th year in a row. The tradition continues, I guess...

David Wrestling -Beehive Brawl (Utah Nationals)
David has been a little slow getting started this year in wrestling (he was out most of December with an injured shoulder/neck), but has turned on the after burners since the first of the year. He placed 1st at the Juab Tournament (http://www.utahwrestling.org/juabk9_2009.html) at 73lbs Jr. High and yesterday he placed second at the Utah Nationals - 12 and under 76 lbs.

We tried to find a couple of cute pictures of the girls to post, but David seems to be getting all the pixels and megabytes lately... We all seem to revolve around David and his wrestling... poor girls. We did give them a break at Nationals and they spent the weekend in Enterprise. Thanks Grandma's and Grandpa's for making it happen.
