Cherry Pickin Time

One of the perks about the home we are renting here in Utah are the fruit tress.  We have a giant cherry tree in the front yard and two apple trees in the back.  All of them are producing lots of good stuff.  Well one Saturday afternoon a big wind kicked up and blew most of the cherries down.  We were sending the kids outside about every 15 minutes to pick them up before the birds got to them.  So it was time to figure out what to do with all these cherries....besides eat them all till we are sick.

We bought a cherry pitter tool at the store, not sure what the correct name is and for family home evening we all helped can the cherries.  Bryan was the official pitter, the girls were the sorters, Brody was in charge of filling the jars, and I just took pictures....ok not really, I was in charge of making syrup and all the other steps involved with canning.  We have already had a couple of cobblers and they were delicious.

Return To Cali!

The days leading up to the last day of school, I was playing with the idea of driving out to California for my birthday.  This isn't really surprising right....I don't plan a lot in my life, just wait to see where the wind takes me most of the time.  So soon after the kids came home from there last day of school we packed up and hit the road.  We stayed the night in Fairfield to spend sometime with family there.  We had a lot of fun watching Carter for Jenna.

The next day we jumped in the car and headed to Monterey.  We needed to get there before Stacey and the girls.  We were planning on surprising them, which was awesome.  She had no idea we were there and cried when we all jumped out from out hiding spots in Ang's bedroom.  It was such a relaxing time, exploring at the beach and going out to eat for our birthday.  It was so nice to be with family again, I miss them  a lot.

Stacey had so much fun on Sat. that she actually drove all the way back to Ang's house on Sunday.  We went back to the beach and played in the sand and than went to Bubba Gumps for dinner.  It was a nice way to spend my birthday weekend.  We stayed at Ang's house for a couple more days.  I suspected the boys might have strep throat and decided to skip stopping in Vacaville to visit and head straight to Yuba City to the drs.  I was so grateful for our good friends the Minards, they let me and my sick kids stay in her trailor for a couple of days.  The kids had a great time visiting and playing with a couple of good friends.  The kids did great the whole trip, even with being sick.  We missed Bryan being with us, but I'm glad that the kids handled everything really well.
