Gavin's 1st Day of Preschool

Gavin had his first day of preschool today, he was like a kid on Christmas morning, so excited! Last night going to bed I reminded him that today we would get ready and go to preschool so when he woke up this morning he couldn't stop talking about it. He got dressed and tried to go out to the car, I was only able to stop him by saying we had to get pictures of him with his backpack. Then as soon as I took one picture he said he was all done and that we had to leave because we were going to be late and that his teacher was going to be waiting for him. Drop off started at 8:20 it was only 7:45 so for the first time I dragged my feet and did everything I could to slow us down leaving, it only worked for 10 minutes. So we left, I drove slow, and we were still early so I just parked on the street down from the preschool house. Well that didn't make Gavin happy, he just sat there complaining that we were going to be late and that his teacher was waiting outside for him. So finally I drove down to the house and he about exploded from the car! He put his backpack on and just walked right up to his teacher and was ready to go in, adorable. We had to coerce him into taking one more picture with Miss Kerry and then Boston got mad at him so he had to say goodbye to him and then he was off! When I came back to pick him up he got in the car as fast as he had gotten out, funny because I could tell he had fun and wasn't sad but I guess just ready to go. I asked him what he did and he said they read a book about a frog that didn't eat flies and he got a folder with a paper for me in it and if he brings it back tomorrow he gets a Dora surprise. Overall I think he loved preschool and can't wait to go back again, hopefully tomorrow goes just as well.

P.S. He for sure loves his "school" shoes I got him (Pumas from the Nordstroms sale) because he wouldn't take them off all day today! And Boston did really well without his big brother to entertain him, hopefully that will last too.

P.S.S. He just came in from swimming and put his "school" shoes back on! Love it!!!

So excited

Lock 'em Down!!!

Boston is my curious child, he likes to open drawers, cabinets, my wallet, anything he can and see what's inside. Gavin could've cared less about that stuff so I never had to fully baby proof my house. Thats not the case now! hahahaha (evil laugh!) Aaron just installed cabinet locks on our bathroom cabinets because that was Boston's favorite place to get into mischief. He'd spray my hair products, spray the sunscreen, and pull out every bottle of anything he could find. I just finally got tired of having all the contents of my drawers on my bathroom counter. And it works! Aaaaah, now I can get ready without having to stop every 2 seconds and take something away from Boston. But the sad/funny thing was his first reaction to not being able to open the drawers/cabinets. He got so mad, I could hear him yelling from the other side of the house. He would just work his way down the row trying to open each one, getting mad and moving on to the next one. Then he came across one that we didn't have to lock and slammed it open right into his face! Ouch poor guy but he has learned and has given up on the drawers.... at least for now.
Now onto the 2nd part of my lock down... Last week Boston climbed out of his crib for the first time and I hoped it would just be a fluke. But its not, he has climbed out 3 more times since that, once with me in the room. So I now have to get a baby gate for his doorway to keep him locked in there since he woke me up at 6 this morning. Gavin is already locked in his room because he wakes up so early, makes lots of noise and then he tries to escape through the garage to Chandy's house. And the dogs are locked in our bathroom at night so now our whole house is going to be on maximum lock down, I feel like I'm running a jail or something.

Gavin's 4 years old!!!

Gavin's 4th birthday started out with mickey mouse pancakes and opening 2 presents. Then we went to the gym came home and I got in the shower so we could take him to lunch. I get out of the shower and hear just a weird noise so I look around the corner into the family room and Gavin has opened ALL of his birthday presents!!! Aaron was in the office busy and couldn't stop him so after all my hard work wrapping, decorating and getting ready for his birthday and I don't even get to enjoy watching him open his presents. Aaron tried taking some pictures of Gavin sitting in the middle of torn wrapping paper and empty bags but Gavin wanted no part in it, grumpy birthday boy. So then we went to Red Robin for lunch and he got a free kids meal and an ice cream sundae. They came out to sing to him and he tried to dive under the table and hide, Aaron had to hold him up, he was just so shy/embarrassed. Then we went home and got ready for the family birthday party.
I had to ice his cake, which I had all planned out in my brain exactly how it was going to look, and to me it was a disaster. I wanted a silver cake with a red Transformers symbol, the silver ran out and the red came out as pink, then I didn't have any silver to touch up the red bleed spots, and then I had to mix icing for his cupcakes, the yellow and blue, and they looked 'baby showerish'. But oh well they tasted great and I've learned not to decorate ice cakes anymore from now on just basic icing for me.
So birthday dinner with the family followed by presents and cake and ice cream. Gavin does not like being the center of attention, he got so shy again when were singing to him and he refused to blow out the candles. He wanted Aaron to help him so Aaron pretended to blow and Gavin finally did it! Later that night after Aaron had put him to bed Gavin came out and told me that tomorrow at his friends party he was going to blow out the candles...
The party continues.... isn't that the best stretching your birthday out over multiple days? I planned a Transformers party for him and his little friends, the first 'friends party' for him. It was hilarious, we played musical chairs I wish I could've taken pictures, the kids would run in opposite directions and kept going back to 'their' chairs before the music would end. Then they would be so loud they wouldn't hear the music end, anyways they had tons of fun and it was hilarious to watch. Then we just had a dance crazy break before doing the pinata (which is that blurry pic in the slide show). Next the came the world's strongest pinata ever! All the kids had 2 turns whacking this thing 3 times with an aluminum bat and they barely made a dent in it. Finally I think the sheer weight of the candy in it made the handle start to rip off so Gavin was able to make it fall down but I had to shake all the candy out of it. (I took pictures of all the kids hitting it and they're all blurry/sun spotted, dumb camera!) We then went inside to do cupcakes and guess what Gavin would not blow out his candles! Seriously what it up with this kid? So Sam and Ryder did the honors. Then on to opening presents, Gavin scored some awesome toys and was very excited for all of them. Then later that night we watched Transformers but Gavin passed out from sheer exhaustion.
All in all he had a great birthday thanks to everyone that helped celebrate it with us! He's so excited to be 4 years old!
