Beach + Disneyland = Perfection!

Newport Beach 8/27 - 9/5

Our official last trip of summer, somehow we had absolutely nothing planned this year until the last month or so of summer and then we were just gone nonstop. In my opinion this is the best way to end the summer, or start it, or just anytime really.... We just had lazy days sitting on the beach and doing absolutely nothing. The only down side was that it was cloudy 70% of the time but that didn't stop the boys. Boston's favorite thing was going out into the ocean on Aaron's back and bodysurfing or boogie boarding. Gavin would not go deeper than his calves with us but if we just sat and watched him he'd be out jumping waves and getting pummeled, totally enjoying it. We were there for Gavin's 5th birthday so we surprised him and went to Disneyland/California Adventure on his birthday. His favorite ride this trip is the one in the dark with the stars, Space Mtn. Boston's favorite ride this trip was either Autopia or Gadget's Go Coaster. He actually cries and throws a fit getting off a ride because he loves them so much!

Gavin totally covered in sand (I didn't notice until now but Boston's in the same pose behind Gavin.)

Boston just being silly

Boston boogie boarding with Dad

Boston is chasing me as I'm taking his picture

Gavin checking out the waves... he never actually went in on the boogie board.

Boston is totally fearless

Aaron & Boston are playing bags in the background as Gavin is running across the beach and sliding down the hill.

The 5 year old birthday boy with Boston in their matching shirts and shoes.

Gavin got to wear a button that says "Happy 5th Birthday Gavin" and Boston got one that said "Celebrating." All day every worker that saw it would tell Gavin happy birthday. By the end of the day he was getting sad because they weren't saying it as much to him. I had to explain it was because it was dark and they couldn't see the button.

Dad, Boston and Goofy

This pic just doesn't do justice to the size of the waves. This is down at The Wedge and the waves were 20+ ft, if you look closely you can see some crazy body surfers on the face of the wave.

Cake and presents for the birthday boy

Enjoying his cake on some down time from the beach.

Gavin and Aaron having a sand fight.

Ryder and Gavin being buried.

Gavin and Ryder after they dug themselves out.

Boston was hilarious and nonstop, he never wanted to leave the beach. So every now and then he'd stop and rest on his sand covered towel.

Me chasing Gavin to get a pic of him.

Boston saying. "Daddy, daddy daddy!!!" Until he got Aaron's attention/woke him up. "I want to go on your back." (aka go out in the waves) This was a common scene with Boston and Aaron, adorable!

Gavin's 1st Day of Kindergarten

Gavin has been waiting and asking and so excited for this day to come! He gets to start kindergarten. He's been saying for the last 6 months, "When I turn 5 I get to go to kindergarten" and "I'm going to get to ride the bus when I go to kindergarten." I have no clue where that came from but he's been sooo ready. Since his birthday is THE day of the cut off we're doing half day this year and then full day kindergarten next year.
Here's the scoop: He is going to Zaharis, his teacher is Mrs. Taylor, school STARTS at 7:45 am so I drop him off and he gets to ride the bus home at 11 am. He has never let me take a picture of him getting off the bus... oh well.

UPDATE:
Gavin is still LOVING school, he's doing great and we haven't had any I don't wanna goes or complaints of any kind.

Colorado 7/29 - 8/7

Get ready for another picture post...

Our family plus all of Aaron's siblings and kids in one house at Purgatory Resort for a week = crazy fun! We spent the majority of our time in Silverton up on the mountains riding Razors, half the time bundled up from the rain, just enjoying Colorado. Aaron could live there year round and all he thinks about all year is the next time we can go to Durango/Silverton so I had to practically drag him home. The boys had a blast just being boys and exploring.

Of course we saw the train, usually multiple times a day

We were driving up some remote pass and got stuck at the top in a HUGE rain/thunderstorm! I thought the mountain was going to come down on us. We had on our ponchos but were still getting soaked so Aaron rigged a tarp over us and we just went white trash. This pic is after the storm at Lake Como (? not the one in Italy, I wish!)

Bundled up trying to stay dry and warm, Boston has no problem sleeping.

This is a really cool mine entrance dug right into the side of a hill.

Yep thats snow and its the end of July!

Aaron, Dave Bair and Boston hiked up to this marker. Kendall Mtn. 13066 feet ABOVE sea level!!!
(Really we drove most of the way and the last little bit was a hike.)

Boston just chilling at the top of Kendall Mtn.

Boston and Daddy Kings of the Mtn!!

So stinkin cute!

Peek a boo!

I swear Gavin was on this trip with us and he is in a few of the pictures but most the time he was gone or he didn't want to take pictures so Boston is the star this trip.

Utah 7/11 - 7/24

We invaded Steph's house for 2 weeks to escape the heat, visit and for Aaron to get some work done. The boys had so much fun playing with their cousins.

Riding horses at Thanksgiving Point farm place

Really?? I mean this is seriously adorable! This is on a rock climbing thing at Park City.

Gavin got to climb up this tower and then slide down the inflatable slide.

Me and Boston riding the roller coaster up at Park City.

Check out the concentration

Foul ball!

Wrestling with dad at some random park.

Boston aka my facial wound child. He was chasing Aaron and dove for him and hit his head on the wooden entertainment center. Luckily Steph's pediatrician saw us on his lunch break and glued it together, for free! Thank you Dr. (And the glue is still on there to this day, it was suppose to wear off in 10 days and its been 54+/- days now!)

Just hanging out listening to the stream and enjoying the cool weather at Sundance.

WOW am I behind!

I'll do a quick post of random summer time pics and then more in depth posts covering our summer adventures...

Who needs clothes when you can wear frog rain boots?

Lil' munchkin snuck out of his room during his nap and then fell asleep on the floor.

Gavin's self portrait

Gavin got a hand me down baseball helmet from his cousin Tate and is in love with it.

Just in need of some hearing protection...

Howdy I'm Woody aka Boston aka The Law in these hear parts

Lots and lots of scorpion hunting and killing.
