State Fair

Today school was closed so we went to the State Fair. It was really fun. We looked at the quilts and art for me and my mother. We looked at the bunnies, pigs, cows, goats and sheep for the girls. We bought an ice cream cone for the boys. Then we went to see the live Sea Lion show and got suckered into buying a photo. I guess that was a good thing, because I didn't take my camera and this is the only photo I have.

Available

Chloe had her heart broken at school lunch the other day. When we got to lunch, Chloe went and sat my her friends Carter and Jordan. Both of them got up and moved to another table. She had a sad look on her face, but Olivia came and sat by her and she cheered up. When we left the school, we were walking out, and Carter was walking in. She said 'Hi' and he just walked by with out saying a word. As we were getting to the car Chloe said "He is just changing. I don't know. I guess I will have to marry some one else".

Need Fire Wood?

About three years ago the two trees on the south side of the house died. It has been bugging me for a long time. Finally we decided to cut them down ourselves. This is how tall they were. Sixty feet. You can compare them to the height of the house.

That is a 25' ladder against the one tree.

With the help of a lift truck. The trees came down quickly. The green tree behind them was catching the branches and lowering them to the ground. That saved our windows and our fence from getting smashed. Sometimes you would feel the ground shake when a huge chunk hit the ground. We also had some very large divots we had to fix in the lawn.

This is our house dead tree free. I cannot believe the difference it made in our back yard. I didn't think they provided much shade. Well the trunks are huge and they made a ton of shade.

We have a TON of fire wood. If you need some, please come get some soon. I am glad to see them go, but I am so sad. I love trees. I have great pictures of Hannah as a small child buried in leaves. Yes I am glad I don't have to rake them up, but they were fun to play in. Next spring we plan on planting trees in their place.

Rocket Man

This Memorial Day weekend we went to visit family in Rexburg/ St. Anthony Idaho. My dad brought a toy for all of us to play with. My dad made a rocket launcher out of ABS and a door bell switch. It is hooked up to a compressor. When you push the button the rocket shoots up in the air. The rockets are made out of construction paper.

Chas could not be content on just shooting paper. So he found an empty 2 liter and filled it with water. Uncle Scott and Uncle Neal could not be content with shooting paper, so they launched grapes and tried to catch them in their mouth. I think pickles were involved also. I wish I would have got a picture of that.

Chloe was a bit scared of the blast noise the compressor made when it shot off, so she would not press the button. I cannot explain how high the rockets shoot up in the air. They went higher than the trees you see in the back ground. But that still does not explain how high they went.
