Postcard Machine at Art Murmur

Peter was sad that I have discontinued the blog. But I am on the computer blogging all day for my job. So here are some pictures from Art Murmur. It is a postcard machine!

We got two postcards.

One of Oakland and one of patterns. It was fun. The end. I'm sorry. I have no energy left for blogging after writing 8-10 posts a day. Frowny face.

We Need Band Help: Hot Club or Nola Brass?

There's the Parisota Hot Club

And there's the Twin Cities Hot Club

Also, the Clearwater Hot Club (we could get a clarinet, sweet!)

And in another direction, there are two New Orleans-style brass bands we're looking at. I love their tiny trombone player.

I would love it if Mama Digdown's could play, but they're a bit out of our price range. Peter may try to talk them down $500, and then we could probably swing it.

And there's the Southside Aces (who share a guitar player with the Twin Cities Hot Club). There's no video of them, but please go take a listen and let me know what you think.

And finally, there's the Brass Messengers, who play awesome Eastern European gypsy music with 10 brass players. Sweet!

I need some direction here! Ugh!

Weekend in the Redwoods

Peter drove me six hours north to the redwoods.

He found the super-swank eco campsite, and we wandered around the unbelievable Fern Canyon.

We played with the pup and played Scrabble and watched Roosevelt elk and playful seals in the surf and relaxed beneath the giants.

Ozzie wanted hobo dinner, and to get away from the terrible campfire.

And up on a bridge, above Home Creek, beside this waterfall, he asked me if I'd marry him. I don't think I've ever heard Peter sound this nervous and lovely and sincere and sweet.

I laughed a lot and he said, "This is where you stop giggling and hugging me and say yes." So I did. And then these sweet older couples walked by and high-fived us and hugged us and took our picture.

We are engaged. We are happy.

You should go here for Peter's super-sweet version of the events on the SOMB.

And save the date: well, sometime next July....we can't wait to party with you!

Home Today with Tragic Stomach Illness

So naturally I thought I'd post the trap-shooting photos from the morning of Ian and Emily's wedding.

I love shooting guns. It is true. And yes, I am shooting in my nightgown.

Due to this successful trap-shooting session, Peter is now going to a hunter's safety course on October 6th and the next weekend he will be flying out to Eastern Washington to shoot grouse and mule deer with his cousins. Ah, he is the hunter to my gatherer.

We also went to another lovely wedding this weekend, which involved no gun shooting, but an excellent spin of the tune "Foxy Little Girls in Oakland." And also some tear-inducing toasts from family members of the bride and groom.

I wish I felt better.

Goodbye, I'm off to to the toilet.

Best. Wedding. Ever.

Yeah, so we had a mildly good time. More photos to come. Or you can find them over on my flickr account in the meanwhile.
