A New Beginning!

Okay this is crazy but I decided to start using my blog again! Sometimes things are too personal for Facebook! Not that I have super interesting stuff to post or anything!!

Our Corny Conversation

I was explaining to Rider where oats come from. I mentioned they grow, and then are cut from a farmer's field, and so on.

Rider puts two and two together and exclaims~

"You know that apple seed I planted?"

"Yes." I said, knowing for certain where this conversation was headed.

"It's going to grow and make corn!"

I have to admit, I was blindsided a bit :)

When Rider grows up (and turns into corn), I will miss these conversations we have.

Things Forgotten

I was going back through pictures downloaded on the computer and found these. I was always going to post them, and forgot. These are trips we made before and during the move from Ohio back to Utah.

Home of Original Buffalo Wings, Buffalo, New York.

We also went to Niagara Falls.

It was lovely.

I think the kids favorite part was rolling down

this grass hill that between the falls.

Then we went to Palmyra.

We were able to see the cabin where Joseph Smith grew up,

and my personal favorite The Sacred Grove.

We attended church in Palmyra

where I ended up reuniting with a girl that I had met 20 some years ago,

while working at Seahawk Seafoods in Valdez Alaska!

It's a small world when you're LDS!

Click on the panoramic view of the grove and enjoy...

The Hunts

The Spike Bull Elk Hunt is over, we didn't get anything, but we had a nice time trying.

The Deer Hunt is on and I was able to shoot and kill a nice (and yummy) buck! I am the only one in our family that drew out. We went on the Monroe mountain with Lance's family. It was awesome to jump right in after our hiatus from hunting due to leaving for residency.

We had a BLAST!! Lance and I spent some serious quality time walking our buns right off!!! Our hard work paid off and it was awesome to hang out so much together :)

Lance Albern and Hunter took turns walking in with us, and so did Trapper. I didn't take any pictures when we were deer hunting, I think I was too caught up in the hunting part of the deer hunt :) So, Lance made the boys take the pic of me with my buck right before I took it to be processed.

We came home with a Mt. Everest size load of stuff, and sun-burnt-mud-caked-faced-children, and it has made my year! I love getting away from everything (even soap :) and just taking a deep breath ...and shooting things :). It does the soul good.

The Other Side To The Stone

Fisher was working sooo hard at playing with Rider (in Power Ranger costumes and all). Then he comes out to me with a nice bright red handprint on his chest. He is crying, saying how he was playing with Rider (because I told him to) and how Rider was being mean and hitting him!

The injustice!

So, I call Rider to come out, and I tell Fisher that he doesn't have to play with Rider anymore.

Rider comes out with his sad blue eyes looking up at me and asks politely~

"What mom?"

I told him how "not nice" it was that he would go off and hit Fisher, when Fisher was being kind and playing with him.

Rider looks down, knowing this wasn't his best moment and...

...as picked on as he could convey he says~

"But Mom, it hurt my hand...."

We Be Educated

Rider is home with me. I didn't send him to school yet. He is a summer birthday and I just wanted to wait another year...hopefully it's Mother's Intuition and not Mother's Co-Dependency :)

My day is filled with little quips and one liners that make my day perfect. I guess next year I will have to volunteer a lot to keep my cup full!

A bit of our day today~

"Rider, let's go upstairs and get a book to read, just like if you were at school." I said

And Rider answers~ "So, you're gonna learn me to read, like at school?"

I guess I better get a move-on to learning him to read!!!!

Go Buckaroos!

The first day of school was August 18th, here in Monticello. It was a lovely experience. I love the new clothes~new backpack~packed lunch~fresh start feeling :)

Shylee started the day in her (temporary) cheer attire for the pep rally. (Her actual uniform arrived before the first football game, and she is thrilled :) When she came home for lunch I shot a few pics of her "first day of school outfit :)

Football is on!

We played a pre-game with Price (which is a 3A school) and we did very well! Lance got in some action and I will post those pics later!
