Painting and Painting

I started the interior last weekend. I always want to do the rolling first, but you gotta be patient and cut everything out before you can roll. It’s slow going, especially with my little “helpers.”

It’s hard to choose a color, I lived with some sample colors on my wall for a few months.  I finally decided on a light soft gray that wasn’t too cold, not too brown.

Hers my oldest, Kyle, who really was a big help. He took off the outlet covers and reinstalled them later.

Dallin was losing his mind, begging to help roll. He could never do enough. “Can I roll? Can I roll?!” Finally I set up a large area that I felt he could do on his own. And he did great!

A splash of happy

I love having a painted front door. My house really needed some added warmth in the entry way.

Cutting around the door fixtures is always a slow meticulous process.

Yellow is a tricky color. It goes lemon or orange easily. I tried a few samples til I found this one, and I love it!

Fun Park

Summer is winding down, school starts next week! Before summer slips away from us, I’ve been trying to get the kids out and about to take advantage of our last days home. They voted on going to the fun park.

Kyle’s so patient with his little sister!  She wanted to race but isn’t big enough to reach the pedals. He even let her pick the color of the car!

I love this picture of Dallin, look at that serious face! He got really good at this game and won a lot of tickets from it.

Blake playing skee ball!

Blake can jump!
Look at this tall kid!
And Julia will do the yellow slide alone now, which is awesome for me.  I think I'm happy to be done climbing through the soft play to help her :)  We had a great day!

Hogle Zoo

We made it on down to the Hogle Zoo!  It’s been a while since we went and it was super fun!  Everyone’s favorite by far was the bird show. The kids were laughing out loud . One of the birds flew so close to me it hit me in the head 😆

I took the younger two kiddos on the train. Dallin was begging for that the whole time. It was cute.

Look how tall they ar all getting!!

The other favorite was the elephants. We watched them getting fed and that was Blake’s favorite part. Dallin loved the red pandas, Julia loved the tiger, and Kyle’s favorite were the cute black footed kittens.

We debated on going in the summer time, but it really wasn’t too bad. We got there early and were pretty much done by the time it got too hot. We got crown burger on the way home, and made it pretty much a perfect day 😉🍟🦒

Watermelon

Kyle has always loved watermelon. It’s seriously his favorite. In the winter, he pines for summer just to have watermelon again. Evidence of his love for watermelon is the size of this bowl! 😂

Zootah

We spent yesterday morning at the local zoo. I wish all four kids came, but the older two really wanted to go off on their own.  They’re just not as fun. The two littler kids are still easily excited and wide eyed about most excursions. So I had Dallin and Julia time.
It was the funnest trip to the zoo I’ve had in a long time. A few things have changed since I last went and the kids loved it. They gave a little paper worksheet to match up where different species originated. It got the kids excited to read about each animal. They have a petting zoo portion now too!

We got a whole bag full of duck food. I think that was Julia’s favorite part. She laughed when they ate out of her hand.

My favorite is always the monkeys 😊

Here they are with their little work sheet, dutifully marking things down.

There was a zoo worker demonstrating a salamander. He walked right up to us and we got a quick private lesson in salamanders. He showed us one, and told us it was called a mole salamander. He asked, “Do you know why it’s called a mole salamander?” Dallin quickly said, “Because he lives underground!” Dallin was right! How does he know this stuff? He’s got a great memory.

It was a pretty great day with my two youngest. They are still at that magical age. When we got back into the van, Julia said, “Dallin, I love you.”  It was a sweet moment. I sure love these two. 😊

Breakfast in Bed

I wanted to make Dallin feel special so I brought him his favorite breakfast, fried eggs and toast. It’s funny, the other kids like to just cereal. But not Dallin, he loves a big breakfast. So this was how I woke him up this morning. He was so surprised he gasped! Then he gave me a hug and a big “Thank you!”

Pioneer Day

We celebrated Utah’s Pioneer Day with a parade. Got lots of candy!

We got a shady spot so it wasn’t too hot.  Blake and Dallin each got a frisbee.  We love the parade!
