Roche Night at the Museum

Jeff's company bought out the Children's Museum and we had a party there.  Food galore.  A family picture.  And crowds.  Usually, when the museum is that crowded we leave, but we stayed for a couple hours.

"Hey, Mom, we have this at home!"

 Remember this old game?
No matter what I did I couldn't get this in focus!  We were holding people up because they couldn't walk by so this is the best one.  (Of course I figured it out after the kids ran off.)

The boys enjoyed watching these older boys for a bit and they didn't seem to mind.

We were leaving when I got the idea to have the kids copy this statue.  It was too late, the girls were too tired, and this was the best.  It was fun to mingle with Jeff's co-workers, spend time with Jeff and have fun.

New Bed

Over the summer the girls bunk bed broke.  Before we went to Europe we order new bunk beds with a trundle.  For the showings Tabitha's bed was a mattress on the floor that we pushed under the bed each night.
Now they have a beautiful new bed that fits better in their room.  They love it and so far they are treating it nice.  Tabitha loves her new bed.

Tschüs (chuuss) Jun 22

Hester and Andreas let us crash at their place.  This was were we crashed every night.  We were very grateful that they let us stay for days.  It was nice to get to know Hester a bit and meet her family.
Every room in their apartment has a door with a lock.
I loved that she could lock her closets.  Baby proofing at its best.

Andreas was busy while we were there, but we did see him.
We left Switzerland and headed back to Frankfurt, Germany.  We spent the night in a nice (read expensive) airport hotel and headed back to the good old USA the following morning.  There we began a long day of delay after delay, but we made it home.  It was nice to be back.

(the title of the post means good bye in German)

A Walk Through the Town Jun 21

 The town.

 The mountain we walked down.

After lunch and a short break we took a leisure walk through town.  We walked from one train station to the next.

There were colorful cows on the streets.  Some even on skiis.

 A street view.

From the top of the mountain, all the way down and on the street we watched parasailers land in this field.

This was a paintint on a wall.

We bought some ice cream and waited for our train to come to take us back to Bern.
And somehow got lucky enough to walk onto a train with a play area!  Moses was in heaven!  Hester was able to relax after carrying Moses all day on her back.
And after being carried all day Moses was completely happy to roam free.

The Walk Down Jun21

We started down.  Moses fell asleep quickly so we walked and walked and walked.  There was no stopping while he was asleep.
Jeff and Hester were often ahead of me because I kept stopping to enjoy the view and take a picture to remember it by.
Then of all things my camera battery died!  I had checked it the night before.  I shouldn't have believed the charge because it said full and I had taken so many pictures in France and Germany.  So there I was in the middle of the Alps with a dead camera battery (two actually because I use a grip).
Hester came to my rescue.  She handed me her camera and said I could use it the rest of the trip.  What are cousins for?!  She was my favorite cousin right then and there.

The trail changed as we walked down.  The website said it was easy.  It was more rugged than any trail Jeff and I have been on in forever.
 A view of the town.

Would you want to live here?
Moses woke up!  So we took a break and had a snack.  Right on the trail.  No one passed us and there was no where else to rest.

 We managed a group picture!
We found a water fountain.  Anyone thirsty?
 A view about halfway down.

This was also part of the trail.  This explains why our calves were sore for the next week.
Another rest stop.  The view was gorgeous.

We made it down the bottom!  We were tired, thirsty and not sore yet.
I love his eyes.
