Temple Trip to Detroit

Ryan's niece and her family live in Detroit Michigan and offered to watch the kiddos while Ryan and I went through a session at the temple.  So, we drove to Detroit and made a day of it.  Ben and Megan met us at the temple with little Henry.  The kids love Henry.  He is seven months old and is fascinated by them.  He is a great baby and just sits back and watches what they are doing.  I don't think I've heard him cry except when he's hungry or tired.  They played in the gym at the local Stake Center and Ryan and I enjoyed the quiet peaceful feeling you only get at the temple.

After we were done, we joined Megan and Ben for some frozen yogurt.  The kiddos loved it.  It was a self served place where you picked any topping you want.  They all got their own and I'm pretty sure we all finished and licked the bowl clean.

It was a great weekend and we all had a great time.  Thanks Ben and Megan.  We loved it

Michigan Adventure

As one last big summer activity before Joshua's surgery, we went to Michigan Adventure with Ryan's work.  We had lunch, rode some rides, swam, and then rode more rides.  The kids had a great time.  The lines weren't long and since they are all close in age, we were able to go as a group and stay together to ride and play.  We were there until is closed and they were begging to go back.  We will have to go again when we can spend more time in the water park.  Here are a bunch of pictures of all of us on various rides.

Ryan and Joshua Fernquist's Mission President

Ryan had to travel for business near the end of June.  On his way home, he changed flights so that he could get home a little sooner.  When he got to the airport, he found out that his flight was canceled and he couldn't switch back to his original flight.  They were able to get him on another flight through Atlanta.  While waiting during his layover he came upon a group of people who looked like mission presidents and wives/families.  He walked over and sure enough they were mission presidents from missions in Brazil.  Now Ryan's nephew is going to Brazil on his mission (don't remember the name at the moment), so he asked if the mission president was there.  He was not with the group but was in the international store, so Ryan walked over and with the help of a translator was able to talk to Josh's mission president.  He thought it was one of those great spiritual moments that have an impact on your life.  He felt the spirit and wanted to share it with his sister. The mission president wanted him to tell her that Josh will be loved as if he were is own son.  What comfort and what a great man.  No wonder he is a mission president.

Teenage Ninja Turtle meets Captain America with floats

Jaxen and Joshua also like to dress up on occasion.  They wanted me to take a picture and show everyone how they dressed up this summer.  Here they are posing for the camera.

Michigan Beaches

One day this summer, Ryan decided to go for a drive and find a beach we haven't been to.  I'm not sure the name of this beach, but the kiddos were excited to explore and run up and down the stairs to get there.  Here are some pictures of their adventures with their dad.

Here is the family minus mom.  Aren't they a handsome bunch?

Summer Reading Fair

Our public library had a Summer Reading Fair to kick of their Summer Reading Program.  We decided to go since the local petting zoo, Critter Barn, was going to have animals there.  Here are some pictures of the kids petting the baby chicks.  I thought I had more pictures taken with animals, but I can't seem to find them. Sorry.
