Happy Bday

The kids love to celebrate birthdays!
I made Indian Fry Bread for the first time in my married life!!!   I tried to make breakfast special even though we weren't at home.    It was VERY hard not to want to eat some of this!!!
We love you D and are thankful for all you do for our family!

Z and Baseball!!!

Z played in a fall league.  It was instructional not competitive.  Which worked well for his first baseball team playing experience.

His friend Mateo was on his team before he moved.   Ak enjoyed playing with his little sister at the games.  :)

He tried a new sport and he may try again . . . . instructional and/or competitive league next time?  We'll see.  :)

Random August Activities

Last time at the city pool before demolition and renovations.  They each took a friend and had a good time!

I went to visit some friends in town visiting the Zs and Ak got a surprise ride!   Here is Z and D after golfing one day - walking 9 holes, sweaty!

B got to go to volunteer at Feeding America one night for Activity Girls.
No I didn't make those dresses.  :)  A friend's mom did and they handed them down to us.  :)   Here's the kids jumping in the rain - I used to love to do that as a kid!  :)

B lost her 10th tooth!  Z earned the marble belt loop with Cut Scouts and we played at FHE one night!  :)

Ak had to decorate a "me" box for school.   B got to go to a birthday party where they painted on canvas!

State Fair

We bought some home made ice cream from this stand - the machine behind the kids makes it!
I was so happy we got to see the tree guy!   I saw someone post a picture so I was looking all over for a real tree that they made look like a person.   But D laughed at me when I found out I was looking for something that didn't exist!  It was a man dressed up like a tree on stilts that appeared a couple times a day in random places that he choose!  So I felt blessed we saw him!

Elephant Ears (Indian Fry Bread) was a fun memory at fairs for me growing up!!!

But I choose to eat celery sticks I packed at home and brought instead of the Elephant Ear!
The cow owners let you walk right by their animals.  We could see where they spend the night and eat. The horse owners - didn't let people back near their horses (some of those horses are $$$$).  We happened to see a rare thing - when one owner let us pet their horse!

We don't usually ride rides and I think D expected that this time, but for some reason I felt I needed to let my kids do it this trip . . . so we bought a few tickets and let them pick.   One they wanted stopped working - they choose this one.  Then there was a lot of discussion - so we decided just to ride one more with Dad.

I think he enjoyed it the most.  :)   They got a little motion sick  . . . so they were fine not riding more!  But they were happy for the opportunity.  :)

As we were almost leaving I saw a big display of past singers who won their contest . . . I was like - I WAS THERE!!!  I came to this!!!   I know him!!!  Jantzen on the bottom right corner there!
Fun day at the fair with smiles!   I'm glad we went!  Glad my friend got us discounted tickets!  :)

Great Aunt

D's great aunt Louva died this month at age 95.
This is Ak with her last summer, May 2013.   Ak loved the flamingos on her shirt.  :)

This was taken this year (May 2014) at Pappaw's reunion.  Him with his living siblings.  Louva's in the front.
I drove my kids to the funeral.  D couldn't go since he had to be at opening stuff at school.

Like my mom always says, funerals are a reunion!   Get to see extended family!

Here were a few pictures displayed.  That center picture was Pappaw's parents and their 11 children!
Watching her sister at the funeral was emotional for me.    Missing loved ones is tough.  But it's nice to have good memories!!!  She was a lovely lady!
